Genesis teaches us many things in regards to the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. Genesis is the book that describes the beginning of the known world. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh, which we refer to as the Sabbath. It tells the story of how animals and plants came to be. It tells us how we as the human race came to be. It also gives us an insight into relationships and the human race and cohabiting the earth.
When God created heaven and earth, he wanted to also create those that would be a reflection to his image. He wanted to create more and something that could be good to what he created in the beginning. Earth was created by him and with doing that, he thought to create humankind that could be good to the earth and be superior to everything around them. In Genesis 1:26-27, God talked about how he created humankind within his image so that they would be like God. In Genesis 1:26-27, for humanity to be created in image of God, this meant that God wanted humankind reflect the attributes his aspects of joy, love, peace, compassion and mercy the same as he did. God is the ruler over the entire earth because he created it and he wants human kind to be that ruling monarch over what he has created. God wants humankind to be good to what he has created just as he is good to every living thing. Humankind is the summit of creation and was created for good. God created humankind so that they could have a relationship with God. In order for humankind to be in the image of God, they have to know God and what he resembles. God states “be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the

The story in Genesis 16 is about the slave girl Hagar, her child, God’s promise to Hagar, and how the Abram household deals with this pregnancy. The way the household and characters deal with this story are important to explain what happens to Hagar and her unborn child. What does this story try to each the reader? Genesis places God in the center of the human identity. “So God created man, male and female, in His own image and it was very good (Gen 1:27; 31 emphasis added). Hindson reminds us, “People are created with a God awareness, even lost people with cry out to God when they are in dire trouble.” The human identity was created with God’s heart and character at its core. Genesis 1 distinctly points out that man is part of the original creation not an angel or god that descended from a heavenly domain to populate the

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of humankind was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that he had made humankind on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the lord said, ‘I will blot out from the earth the human beings I have created-people together with animals and creeping things and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.’ But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord.”(Genesis 6:5-8)
The first five chapters of Genesis provide not only historical information about Creation, the Fall, and the first generations of mankind, but they also describe God’s attitude toward His creation and towards sin. These chapters also provide insights into the nature of man. For example, we learn from Genesis 1 and 2 that we have been made in the image of God. This means that humans have authority, value, and purpose because God possesses these traits. The first four chapters of Genesis give us insight into how each of these traits specifically apply to human life and society.
On the second day God creates the sky, which is described as separating the waters above from the waters below' and the sky is named heaven
The Book of Genesis derives from the First Testament of the Hebrew Bible and explains the story of creation, or how the world came to be. While the author isn’t proven, it is widely believed by many that Moses authored the first five books of the Bible, also known as the Torah. In the story, the timeframe isn’t specified expect that it is said to be ‘in the beginning’ of all creation. The story goes on to detail how God created the heavens, the earth, and all its creatures. On the sixth day, he created man, Adam, in his image and placed him in the Garden of Eden. From Adam’s rib, he created a woman, Eve. The Garden of Eden was a lush and plentiful garden; however they were forbidden by God to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
In Genesis 1:28 God says, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” By giving humans dominion, God wanted them to tend to the earth and take care of it—instead of dominating it—in the same way that he tends to humans and takes care of them. This shows that God gave humans authority over other beings for the purpose of nurturing them just as God has authority over humans which he uses for the purpose of nurturing. In this way humans’ authority shows that they are made in the image of

Genesis is the first book of the Bible. It begins with the story of God’s creation of the universe. The Lord is the Almighty Creator of the world, skies, heavens, seas, animals, man, and woman. He governs the universe and develops relationships with man. Throughout Genesis, God acknowledges the fact that human beings make mistakes, and accepts their imperfection. Throughout Genesis, God changes from one who does not tolerate disobedience, to one who shows clemency. Early on in Genesis, God punishes Adam and Eve for disobedience. After making the mistake of flooding the world, the Lord realizes that even He is not perfect, and does not allow Jacob’s deceit of his father to taint his future.
The book of Genesis is often referred to as the book of beginnings. Genesis is the first book that begins the Old Testament, it is also the first book of the entire Bible. The Lord also began the world in the book of Genesis, He made the heavens and the earth, man and woman. In Genesis chapters one through eleven, the Bible teaches us stories that most of us have grown up hearing in Sunday School such as the creation account, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and the flood and the tower of Babel. Through these teachings, we are able to see that God ultimately in control and holds everything in His balance. The stories of Genesis aren’t just stories; they are real life accounts that can help build and shape a worldview on things regarding the natural world, human identity, human relationships and civilization.
