3.1) On April 12th I attended a People First of Neenah-Menasha meeting. This event was significant to this target population because it taught them how to address their own needs in the context of their own communities. 3.2) I have analyzed models of assessment and have learned about the pre and post assessment procedures in SOAR’s Adult SRR program. (an aptitude of understanding of this concept was expressed in my Assessment III assignment for Program Evaluation II) 3.3) I have fostered an understanding of how the expression of social skills is very important for SOAR’s assessment process. SOAR’s participants’ are assessed on what kind of social skills they have learned and how they use these social skills appropriately. 3.4) Concerning my

1 I chose to read this book because I like ww2 and science which both are involved in this. The title also sounds interesting to me.
Training on how to file documentation of the participants was provided. Mr. Abdullah gave instruction on how to file properly. Documents that were being filed were only from the social services department. For instance, flow sheets, narrative notes, assessments, and reassessments. Guidelines on how to assess and reassess participant were given
As a Program Director working with this population of people my focus is for physical, social and psychological integration. However, for this to materialize it is essential that those that provide the direct and indirect care are properly trained. Without the wherewithal to know yourself and continually having a reflective practice incorporated in human service routine, it is quite easy to be part of the
Competency 6 is the interaction with individuals, families, groups, and communities. This competency demands a knowledge of theoretical frameworks in social work to connect with clients. Such interaction with clients is accomplished through the use of effective interpersonal skills. Competency 7 requires an understanding of the theories of human behaviors to evaluate individuals, groups, families, and communities. Using critical thinking and theoretical frameworks, examine and explain the data collected about clients.
In this paper I will identify the need for the group that was chosen. Part of the discussion will concentrate on the three key values used in the group approach with this population. The other will address models and theories of group practice, and the approach used by this group. The paper will also look at the key challenges or obstacles in group interventions with this population. Using the worksheet planning guide for social work group’s eight headings will be discussed. Briefly the readings from the course syllabus will be used in the development plan and incorporated in the paper will be the plans for an initial group session. Based on the skills inventory three critical skills will be addressed. Lastly a critique of a proposed group will be conducted.
The complexity of the case meant I had to draw on a large range of social work skills to facilitate my engagement with the service user and carers and to complete my recommendations for panel. My Skills strongly developed throughout the process of assessing the service user and carers and they were acknowledged by my practice assessor.
Assessment is a basic skill of generalist social workers. As my current place of employment does not employ any defined assessment, I will utilize
Use this proforma to organise your response to the reflective assessment task. Use the steps as headings and write in paragraphs below the headings. This is not an essay task. All your sources should be referenced using APA style.
The self-assessment tool specially evaluated my personal culturally competent abilities. Two areas of weaknesses I targeted are as follows:
This process felt rush to me seeing that I joined the course on the 8th of January, which was the day that the post was going up onto the main board. I decided to share a minimum amount of information about myself based on the question that was assigned to the pod for the week’s discussion. I was uncomfortable answering some of the questions that were asked of me by other pod members in my group; before on introduction was conducted, I was asked my age, my ethnicity and where I lived. Toby stated in his work; the tasks and skills of the social worker across stages of group development that "…at the initial stage, the group qua group is non-existent and therefore is a source of stress rather than support to members. The work of the group is
For this exercise, I assessed an experience that occurred almost twenty years ago. I do not believe that this assessment was beneficial in reframing my narrative of the experience. Until I completed the readings, I speculated that this may be in part due to the time that has elapsed since that incident. However, research indicates that there is no relationship between age of participants or time since the event (Tedeschi and Calhoun, 1996). With that said, I still don’t believe the assessment was beneficial in reframing my experience. I did find the assessment questions a reminder of how far I have come since the incident. Shortly, after the incident I saw the positive the emerged. This assessment could be a valuable tool to help others find
For this end of module assessment I will be looking at the case study of Safia Nazir, her husband Nazir Rashid and their 3 children Taqi, Asif and Amina who live in Scotland and have been bought to the attention of social services for various reasons. I will be demonstrating my understanding of what the social workers role would be in relation to this family, including the skills and knowledge needed to meet the family’s individual needs. The social worker in this case study is called Shona and what I have read of her and her initial steps to work with the family come across as appropriate and professional. I will go into more detail about Shona’s work and my understanding of her role later in the assignment and make potential comparisons or reflect on what I may or may not do differently. I will consider issues in relation to my personal and professional values and will also refer to policy and practice from English legislation; as this is my country of practice. I will be focusing on early intervention and the initial steps in social work, such as making contact, meeting and the initial assessment.
