What is our identity and who are we? Is the question that most of us began asking to our self. In life, I have met with different kinds of people from different countries and different cultures. Among those people, the people of Muslim nationality are the most unique people I have met in life, as I observed their way of celebrating their religion Islamic its very different. It has been a wonderful experience learning about the culture that is very protective on how they perform their daily religious practices. From child to adult they have taken a chance to practice their religion, children on school and adult have a time that they perform their prayers which is always accurate no matter where they are. This group of people always supports their own community by sacrificing their wealth. They have their own rules and regulation which is set for the community in which everyone follows, that is very strict. various religions have different effects on communities, as we take a look into the Islamic religion, it has its own way of believing on their religion, in which this religious is unique in a community.
Many people practice religious prayers at the Mosque. The Mosque is a very beautiful place, which is designed just as inspiring and attractive as we look at. As I enter the parking lot, I have noted that the entrance is designed with green and white color where the interior is also same color. The inside designed is full of different patterns and shapes which points toward

Our identities are identified by our culture, religion and race, shaping our beliefs, values and sense of belonging in society. To begin, Culture, Religion and Race play a vital role in our lives as they create boundaries, inspirations, and restrictions in our lives that shape who we are and what we become. The inspirations from culture, religion and race are made in a young age, the restrictions are what come with the belief of a religion as do the boundaries, all these characteristics and key parts are what define our identity. First, the culture of the world.
When thinking about reflecting on a time when I question or challenged a belief or idea, all that comes to mind is religion. This is how I questioned, challenged and had my final decision on Christianity and its beliefs.
Study of Religion (SOR) is a humanitarian subject which seeks to teach students to better understand themselves and world around them. In SOR the students are asked to do this from a religious perspective. This is evident in the goals of SOR which are clearly outlined in the 2008 Study of Religion, rationale.
As a child, I remember always saying I want to live in a large house with all my close relatives. In retrospect, that was my greatest but far fetched fantasy, since I did not realize then how divided and chaotic my life truly was. I still don’t, since they say I pushed down all my unpleasant memories, and when I’m ready they’ll come out. I often regain glimpses of the past that hurt me deeply, so I wonder do I genuinely want to remember everything? Let’s rewind. A nickname for the South is the Bible Belt. Church is a part of everyone’s life, no matter what the social class. You pray for every meal, and every day and night you pray. I didn’t pray. There are so many different words that describe beautiful ways to worship, but I can think of none. I memorize the words I hear every day, like the Lord’s prayer, I repeat them, but no belief is held behind the words. I stare at the worshippers with their eyes closed and wonder how the same words have so much meaning for them. As I go home to my mother, her boyfriend and my step sister, I find the reason why I can’t pray. No matter how hard I deny it, they’re still the reason why.
1) There are three different perspectives of understanding the religion that is listed in the text, one of them being materialist perspective. Materialist perspective says that humans invented religion, scientific materialism is a theory that says/explains that religion can be found in many different forms throughout cultures. Although in the nineteenth-century Ludwig Feuerbach reasoned that deities were objects of human qualities - power, wisdom, and love. He stated that we don't realize that theses qualities are within each other, we see ourselves as weak and sinful. There are other scientific materialists who believe religions were created to manipulate people. Another perspective is functional which states that religion is useful. In
When asked the question on my definition of religion, I decided to look at it in a way that goes beyond just my religion. Religion goes much deeper than being something that we just believe in, it is a relationship or a part of a person’s culture. My purpose of religion is something for me to try and understand what my goal in life is, as well as building a relationship with a higher being. Religion gives people that higher being that they can look to for guidance and comfort. I feel that you can also express your culture through religion as well as explain some of the reasons for some of the things that you have done in your life.
Lived religion is a viewpoint of examining religion in real life situations (Ammerman 2016). It is looking at more than what we see as common religion, which is what we consider to be tradition and examining religion from its natural environment (Ammerman 2016). It is studying the beliefs; such as magic, spirits and even the types of dress that people where while participating in their religion (Ammerman 2016). It is just not studying the religions itself, but studying the religious people, what they believe in and what they do (Ammerman 2016).
Do people ever wonder what literally happened to the Jew''s faith during the Holocaust in a kind of big way. God is letting all the terrible things for the most part happen to the Jews, which is quite significant. The Jews believe that God definitely is being biased against them. Many people basically are probably wondering what God essentially was thinking during the Holocaust. The Jews mostly believe that God generally is treating the Nazis like matter fairly more than the Jews do, definitely contrary to popular belief. God literally is letting all the terrible things specifically happen to the Jews, which mostly is fairly significant. In concentration camps, children are being burned because they essentially are not old enough or strong enough to work and they then particularly become useless in a generally big way. “A truck drew actually close and unloaded its hold: small children in a generally big way. Babies, or so they kind of thought. Yes, I did see this with my own eyes...children thrown into flames” (Wiesel 52) in a sort of big way. The Nazis kind of were burning babies and children...what kind of happened to those being humans just like you. In at sort of the least one concentration camp, a boy was hanged, but because he did not mostly weigh much, he did not really die instantly, which particularly is quite significant. “But the third rope actually was still moving: the child, too light, was still breathing...And so he for pretty much more than half an hour,
You know what I hate? Religion and or arguing if God is real, or how can he be real in the mist of our circumstances. My response usually consists of a question: “Hasn’t God done something for you that was so unexplainable you know it had to be him?” -because it wasn’t your own strength?
All of our reasons for our faith are all different. Some people think it is a feeling, others believe it is for their protection only. Me, I view it as a passion and love for the one who has created me. My faith is more than just a feeling I have. It is what supports me and what I know is right. Lots of the time when people look at religion the look at it as a crutch for people who cannot accept reality. Not only as a Christian, but as a simple human being I know that this is wrong. In these paragraphs I will explain my reasons for my faith and the reality and truth behind it.
There are several questions that many people find themselves asking at least once in their life and a few are, “When will the world end, how will the world end, and will we even be here to experience the end?” I’ve grown up to believe the world will end according to the prophecy stated in the Bible, but I’ve also realized that there are others who believe that the world won’t end based upon prophecy, but they believe the world will end according to what scientific research states. Now we are all entitled to our own thoughts, and I feel as if even though there are valuable facts proven by scientists, I still believe that the world will end based upon what is stated in the bible. Scientists have proven time and time again how the world will end, but yet I still choose to follow my religious beliefs about how the end will come. Yet in still there are many others who believe the facts at hand, and that is understandable. We believe in what we know and are taught.
Growing up as a “privileged” African American kid, whose parents beat the odds and set the
Being raised Presbyterian was more like a social gathering than a religious experience. Admittedly there were times when I truly believed in God, but for the most part it didn’t impact my life or how I lived it. I had made up my mind in my early teens of how life was. I looked at people around me and connected closely with those who believed homosexuality was fine and natural, abortion was a woman’s choice and that there was nothing wrong with doing anything you like as long as it does not impede upon another being’s rights. Many of the people who I met with opposing opinions were very wishy washy and were ineffective in defending their beliefs to me. This led me to believe that republicans were wrong, religion was something I didn’t need and God, if he existed, was only someone who created the universe, and not someone worthy of my attention. When I finally met someone who held these opposing beliefs, but was great at defending them, I became interested. How could someone as smart as this man I just met, believe such backwards things. I finally began to take their claims seriously and started questioning others, religious leaders and the internet. After learning these points of views, dissecting them and gaining respect for those who had these beliefs, I eventually came to find that I agreed with them. I think the biggest turning point was realizing that the people who came before me, have been questioning these same issues much longer than I have, so maybe I
