It has been estimated that America has nearly 300 million guns, nearly one gun per member of the population. Imagine you are watching a film at the Cinema and suddenly a man enters with a pistol and starts shooting innocent people. Even though this seems unbelievable, this is possible in America as their citizens are allowed to own guns. They claim that they use guns for self-protection, however, it is used to create violence. The majority of the US citizens support the gun laws, which is shocking. Guns are the main cause of crime in the USA, they have given their young citizens a misleading path which pose a high danger to the whole of the US population.
There are numerous reasons why guns should be banned in the USA. One of the reason is

When one American kills another, they typically use a gun. In fact, Americans use guns twice as much as any other deadly weapon. At the current rate, 339,000 Americans will die by guns over the next 10 years. In the USA, states with the most weapons are prone to confer high assault rates. This shows that guns are the main cause of crime in America. The USA has the highest gun ownership rate on the planet as there are 89 guns for every 100 Americans. A nation with the most guns are likely to suffer more gun related crimes. Between 1999 and 2013 there were 270,237 firearm suicides in the United States. A person who wants to kill himself is most unlikely to commit suicide when a gun is not accessible. This shows that guns lead to all sorts of problems in the USA. This is another reason why guns should be made …show more content…
This right comes from the 2nd amendment of the US constitution, the country's supreme law, which was written in 1791 by the founding fathers. It reads: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” They are allowed to own guns for their safety and to defend themselves in the face of danger. Individuals who are in favour of guns say that it is their right to carry and own guns. Guns are part of Americans way of life. This is why citizens should be allowed to own
Owning a gun is legal in the United States for self-defense or hunting or sports, and it’s the second amendment. However, in recent years, violence has significantly increased in the USA because of guns. There are more cases of children and young adults engaging in violence or getting caught in the crossfire. It is shameful to say that almost every day we hear about some gun violence. Guns can be used for self-defense or sports, however they also can be used for robbing, shooting and many other violent purposes. We can get safety and reduce crime rate by banning guns. These are the reasons why guns should be banned.
In the short article "Guns in America" by Esmé E Depres, she shows that firearms are involved in the deaths of more than 30,000 people in the U.S. annually, about two-thirds of which are suicides.
The general argument made by author Shiha Dalmia in her work, “The Case Against Banning Guns” is that instead of trying to ban all the guns in the world, we should try using different methods to reduce the amount of harm weapons sometime cause. There are roughly 300 million guns in this country, which means there is nearly one for every man, woman, and child. With about 300 million guns in circulation, it would be nearly impossible to ban all of the weapons in this country. The topic of banning guns is a very controversial topic because not everyone who owns a gun is going to use it to harm other people, he or she might be using that weapon for hunting, gun shows, maybe even to symbolize something that is meaningful to him, or if worst comes to worst, use it to protect himself and his family incase an intruder were to enter his home.
Did you know you are 4 times more likely to be killed with a knife or other cutting instrument than you are by a rifle or a shotgun? Gun rights and gun control are always hot items during any political discussion, whether it is between peers or politicians. One of the many great advantages to being an American is the ability to choose for one's own self what to believe in. Another advantage, in my opinion, is the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Laws should not restrict gun rights because first, it would infringe the second amendment, second, guns are a part of our culture, and finally, if guns were outlawed, citizens of the U.S. would become vulnerable.
The rights of the second amendment of the United States constitution grant individuals of America the right to bear arms. Recent actions throughout the country have caused many people to consider restricting the use, purchase, and the ownership of all types of firearms. These actions limit the rights of people throughout the nation who use their firearms for domestic purposes such as hunting or sports. Gun control is an ineffective way of limiting gun related violence within civil areas.
Although, many Americans believe they have the right to bear arms and use guns for protection. According to the article, “American deaths in terrorism vs. gun violence in one graph” the author Julia Jones states “The prevalence of guns go a long way toward explaining America’s terrible record – they are used in two – thirds of all murders. This demonstrates, guns are the most common weapons that are used in most of all the murders that are occurring. Due to the fact that guns are the most common weapons, it makes the United States have a horrible record. According to the same article “American deaths in terrorism vs. gun violence in one graph” states guns play a large role in suicides too. The article, also states that in 2013; 21,175 Americans killed themselves with guns, while 11,208 were killed by others. This means, people buy guns to take their lives away without a hesitation. This also means, people die no matter with a gun, either they commit suicide or someone kills them. As shown above, there wouldn’t be so many gun attacks and suicides if stronger gun control laws should be
The United States is one of the few countries were the right to bear arms is protected by the constitution. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most violent with incidents involving guns this year reaching an estimated 36,212 and an approximate 9,050 deaths (“Gun Violence Archive”). There are an estimated 310 million firearms in households across American, these are only estimates because current gun laws do not require them to be registered or tracked. A more staggering estimate is that most of the guns owned by private citizens are semi-automatic guns, the same type of gun used in almost all mass shootings. While these privately owned guns are legally purchased, many times, they land in the hands of criminals, and owners never report them stolen. Mass shootings and gun crimes are not the only issues with gun violence the one never talked about is suicide, more guns available equals more suicides. The United States is one of the easiest countries to own a gun legally or illegally, stricter gun control laws are necessary.
On January 1st. Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, signed a bill into law that allows licensed handgun owners to openly display firearms out into the public. Open carry being legal in the majority of the United States is terrible. Getting licensed today would be fairly easy because background checks are horrible. One out of every veterans come back from war with PTSD. A mere sight of a gun would cause them to have a major anxiety attack, and after all, we should be respecting them and not shoving guns to their faces. Plus if you think about it, there is no good convenient reason to show your guns to the outside world.
This country is known for its freedom, but it’s slowly being taken away from us by the government and protesters who think that guns kill and cause violence and murders. The protesters like to blame the gun for what people do, the gun doesn’t shoot itself, and it’s the ignorant person behind it. America is known for their gun power and strength and if you take that all away then countries will be able to attack us more easily. The key is to be responsible with guns, which would make no problems. It is not easy to stop the crimes but we can always make an effort to. The main reasons we need guns in this country is for self-defense, safety, security and rights. People in the United States have the right to bear and keep arms.
First, guns are protected in the second amendment. In the 1700s, our founding fathers wrote our constitution. Within it, there were many written rights given to Americans that were called amendments. In the second amendment, they claimed that all men should have the right to bear arms. The founding father put a lot of thought into this amendment and if the people who built our country from the ground up believed that we should have the right to own and use guns, then why should anyone believe that they were wrong in making this decision? People nowadays are trying to change our given right and those people will lead our country into turmoil. They plan to discredit the founding fathers and rewrite our constitution with rules that they want. They cannot do this yet because there are not enough Americans that will go along with this plan, but in the future things may change and we will have to suffer the consequences. Our rights are secured by the Declaration of Independence and nobody can ever change that.
5. The vast majority of gun owners are not all crackpots. It’s just those few who are mentally ill and take a gun and kill innocent people. Most people keep a gun
The United States is the number one country with the most gun ownerships. “It has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capita number in the world” (ProCon, 2017). The United States has the Second Amendment that states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Which states that all Americans have the right to own and carry a gun. This Amendment was written back when military people were taking civilians properties and they felt that they needed to protect themselves. But now times have changed and most Americans don’t own a gun for self-defense. “In 2010 there were 230 “justifiable
The right to possess guns is a fundamental element to American identity. The right to own and operate guns under certain circumstances is in fact guaranteed as part of the United States Constitution. Over the course of American history and particularly in the 21st century, there exists a great debate over the possession of guns of private citizens. Both sides of the debate argue with fervor. There are those that argue fervently for the right to possess arms; they argue for guns with regard to home protection, property protection, personal security, and that it is a fundamental right as a citizen.
Gun ownership should be banned to reduce the 100,000 deaths of americans that are shot every year in the United States. Throughout America’s history, we have been known as the extremely gun violent country unfit to protect our citizens from danger. The television news reports continue to display the violent crimes and school shootings that has harmed innocent people especially children. When the government allows guns to be legal in the United States, they are giving people the responsibility to use this weapon for self defense purposes and recreational sport such as hunting. However, gun owners have been unable to handle this responsibility
“I argue that location-specific gun bans (commonly known as “gun-free zones”) are typically unjust” (Pg.1, Hsiao)
