Adoptions are also an option for unexpected mothers to turn to. One reason women choose adoption is because women are afraid to go through the abortion process. The possible risks scare these mothers which some consequences including the high risk of suicide, incomplete abortions, and possible damage to the uterus. (NHS Choices. NHS. May 14th 2018.) The second reason for adoption is because the mother wants their baby to have a future. “When a woman finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, it may be at a time in her life where she’s simply not ready for all of the responsibilities of parenthood. She may be completing her education or focusing on her career, or she may feel that she is too young or unprepared at this point in her life to offer
A woman is more than a fetus. Though a woman might be pregnant with a child, she is still her own person and has every right to decide what she wants to do with her body. Many people argue that having an abortion can be emotionally damaging, however, so can abortion. Women develop an emotional bond with a child when they carry it through the full term and go through an experience of delivery. Giving up that child for adoption might be the only reasonable option for a young girl too immature or poor to raise a child. However, that woman has to live with a feeling of abandoning their child for the rest of her life. In my opinion, having an abortion can be psychologically damaging to a woman; however, giving up a child from adoption is a great deal worse.
When a couple or individual decides to adopt a child, they know they are going to take on the responsibility of taking care of someone else’s child. Due to the biological parent(s) who can’t take care of that child anymore, because of either drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abuse to the child or if the parent(s) had died and there is no other care for the child. So that’s why this gives other couples who cannot have kids, the opportunity to promise themselves to be a great parent to a child in need. Though there are some bad things about adoption as well. Like adopting a child from another country of another race, because once that child is adopted into an American family, he or she will be cut off from their culture and never know about their
Adoption, a process that every Pro-Lifer will tell you is a viable option for a baby that is “unwanted” or an “accident. But for a woman who has decided that she will carry a child full term (all 9 months of pregnancy cycle), adoption is anything but an option. Many statistics show that
Adoption can be a wonderful and joyous situation for a child and parent. I personally feel like the ideal of adoption is the birth mother or father, basically giving their child a better chance at life. “About 10% of couples in the United States are affected by infertility. Both men and women can be infertile. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1/3 of the time the diagnosis is due to female infertility, 1/3 of the time it is linked to male infertility, and the remaining cases of infertility are due to a combination of factors from both partners. For approximately 20% of couples, the cause cannot be determined”(webmd.com). Adoption gives these families a chance of having a family that includes children. “Compared to long-term
A third reason might be that the mother might already have as many kids as she wants, but she does not want a time in her life where she can not help all them and have to give them to social service to put up for adoption so she believes it would be better not to have the child. Wanting to keep a baby alive that has so many problems that it would have a completely painful life an uncomfortable life is a bad choice.
Adoption was not recognized in the United States until the late 1800s and was put into place in 1851. Since the beginning when adoption was put into place, adoptions have increasingly became a more unique way of creating a family. According to Marvin Olasky, adoption is an alternative to abortion and single parenting (Opposing Viewpoints: Adoption 32). Although adoption may put strain on the lives of those going through the process, it is a far better choice than abortion. In the United States, an abortion costs anyway from $0 to $950, the big range of price all depends on your insurance, income, where you live, the type of abortion, and how far along the woman is in her pregnancy. Taking the cheap way out of giving birth to a baby is a mistake. You are killing the life of a child that had no opportunity to live in this world just because a parent wasn’t ready or didn’t want to give birth (Parenthood). Adoption goes unnoticed in this world because people may think it is too expensive and that can be true. Although it is expensive, you are saving the lives of children who may have not had the opportunity to speak for themselves. “Adoption is viewed as a successful society solution for problems confronting children whose biological parents could not or would not provide for them,” (Brodzinsky). The whole process comes with choosing which type of adoption is best, that includes open and closed adoption.
When you unexpectedly became pregnant, it likely took a lot of tough soul-searching and contemplation before you finally decided that it would be in your baby's best interest to place it for adoption. It takes a very selfless person to put a child's best interest before their own, and you likely know you are making the best decision. If you know who the father of your child is, then you may be contemplating not telling him for fear that he will try to make you keep the baby. The father may be an ex-boyfriend or one of several potential past partners. However, if you don't at least attempt to notify the father, it can pose problems later for you, the baby, and the adoptive parents. Read on to find out why you must try to notify the paternal father and what to do if he wants to keep the child.
There are many reasons and scenarios to why people may have difficulties in raising a child. Financial reasons may be one of the major reasons people consider abortions or adoptions. It cost a fairly decent amount of money to raise a child and provide for it. In some tragic cases women decide to have an abortion or an adoption due to rape. In such a case it is almost conceivable to consider that as being an exception. Premarital relations and teenage pregnancies are other reasons as to why one would choose either of these alternatives. No teenager wants to be a parent or be forced to grow up while they are still in their youth. In today’s society, the
In today world there’s a huge population of children in foster homes. Why not give LGBT people the chance to adopt. They probably want to raise a child or even children of there own today or someday. The LGBs community overpowers the foster care community. Therefore, LGBs people should be able to adopt children from foster care. LGBs community should be allowed to adopt because they nurture the neediest, they foster tolerance, and they choose the responsibility to have children, despite the fact it goes against society’s religious and moral values.
It can be extremely difficult for a mother to be unselfish and do what¡¯s best for her baby but she eventually learns to have flexibility. After the mother gives birth and picks a family for her child there is always the option of open adoption.
When the average American citizen today thinks about the concept of adoption, what images are typically the first that come to mind? Although different people are sure to have equally as different experiences in this field, one picture continues to remain the most commonly-accepted. This image consists of a man and a woman who cannot have children of their own, a newborn baby, and a single mother who will certainly be unable to provide for the infant due to her young age, lack of financial support, or another variety of unfortunate circumstances. Making the decision to adopt a child is without a doubt one of the best options available for couples who are unable to conceive, but by thinking of adoption as nothing more than the fallback
Adoption is a wonderful and rewarding way to grow a family. When you open your heart and house to a child through adoption, you make an everlasting commitment. It is an important decision that requires thought and discussion among the entire family. Adopting a child is without a doubt a life changing experience that requires patience and dedication. This experience allows families to change a child’s life who one day may have thought that they would never be loved. Parents who adopt from infertility have already felt what loss and disappointment feels like due to not being able to bear a child. Many times these same parents have experienced prior miscarriages or even unsuccessful fertility clinics. For them, the opportunity to adopt is a
The choice between adoption and abortion changes millions of lives every day. Some advocates of abortion feel if the mother of the child thinks that she will not be a good parent or thinks she will harm the child, that she has the right to abort the child. Abortion is a life changing decision and has the reputation of being an easy way out of an unwanted pregnancy. Adoption, on the other hand, is one way for a woman who is not prepared to be a parent to provide her child the best life possible without being involved in the child’s life. According to national estimates, one million children in the United States live with adoptive parents and from 2% to 4% of American families include an adopted
Since 1776, the United States of America has had a growing problem with orphans and childhood adoption. Orphanages become overpopulated while foster homes shelter up to 3 children on average. The foster care system has been viewed as positive reinforcement for American homes; yet the point of fostering children is consistently overlooked. Adoption is necessary for orphans, foster children, or children in abusive homes. The act of adopting a child comes with positive benefits and fiscal responsibility, such as government assistance and wiser spending. Children obtain a healthy childhood with a familiar sense of belonging. The drawback of this is the long governmental process of petitioning for adoption. Seeking the birthparents, if they are alive, retrieving consent, being fiscally responsible, and having a safe environment for the child to grow up in are all responsibilities to look forward to when adopting a child. The adoption rate in the United States of America needs to increase dramatically, as there are social benefits, mental health improvements, and economical advantages for families who adopt.
“There are no unwanted children. Just unfound families.”, a quote from the National Adoption Center. Do you think adoption should be encouraged? This is a good question because we need know that adoption is a good thing and it’s a blessing to someone’s family and to a child’s life. Adoption is good because it’s a blessing to a married couple that can’t grow babies. It also gives the child being adopted a better life and a new beginning. The problem is that there are children and teens that need a new family, and that are suffering at home. The cause to this is that their parents are neglecting them and abandoning them. The solution would be adoption, and giving them to families that care.
