We all know reading is boring, time consuming, and compulsory. All though, most kids would agree with that statement, some may disagree. Some can say that if one does not read they can lose knowledge and become less smart. If you don't read there can be consequences for stopping. Reading is valuable because it gives readers the power to escape, to maximize their potential, and to strengthen their mind. Reading is valuable because it can help you escape from anything in life. First, Douglass says how just by learning something small gave him something even bigger. “The first step had been taken. This shows how those people not only helped her maximize her potential but also how they gave her strength and power. In conclusion, reading can be important due to the main benefits its has to the human. Reading is valuable because it has the power to strengthen your mind. First, malala explains how she thinks that the most valuable thing is to have knowledge and that strengthens your mind. “Let us pick up our books and pens, they are our most powerful weapon.”(malala). This shows how the pens and books strengthen your mind and she thinks that, knowledge has greater power than any weapon. This also shows how malala feels that the pen and book are a great weapon but not in a violent way to fight, but to fight back with books. Second, Douglass explains how anyone should want to read and expan their thinking. “To show that a slave will find any way to learn how to read and educate himself.”(Douglass). This shows how Douglass gave an example of how a slave would find a way to read, and that shows how they wanted to make their thinking greater and become a smarter person overall. In conclusion, is valuable to read due to the big benefits it has like being able to strengthen your mind, maximizing your potential and being able to escape with a book.
