Social life is not easy, for young adults our society shows that drugs and addictions are somewhat ok. We can turn on the radio or the television, the common things that pop is common addictions and drug use. The environment we are growing up in has a lot of effect on the human day to day life style. For example, a friend of mine named Henry that is really into music. One night he decided to try a pill called Xana at a party, the reason he tried this because he heard from music and saw it on the T.V. showing what it does to. One night he decided to take two, later that night he cashed his car because the Xana knockout him out cold. After the accident he still continued to do the pill and became addicted to them knowing the consequence that came with Xana from the first time. In The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, Angie Bachmann, a mother and homemaker who got addicted to gambling, got sued by Harrah’s for not paying her debts and tried to blame her addiction and habit for her actions. Bachmann knew that she was getting out of control because although her parents acted as enablers, they ended up cutting her off after they realized it was a mistake. Also, she was in deb because she kept going to the casino even after knowing she wasn’t going to be able to pay it off. Then she cut up her credit cards, and she filed for bankruptcy because she had to confess to her husband because if she didn’t it could’ve ruined her marriage and family. She could’ve chosen to do anything other than gambling, but she didn’t. If she chose another activity everything could’ve turned out differently. She should have learned her lesson after everything that has happened, but she didn’t; therefor she is mainly responsible for her
