Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teenagers can begin to drive. Virginia's legislatures are considering raising the minimum driving age from sixteen to eighteen years old. I believe this is an excellent idea because of safety concerns. Raising the age would allow time for young drivers to acquire maturity and needed experience. Scientists have proven many health problems occur to younger drivers
First of all, studies have shown that younger drivers are more likely to be the reason for vehicle accidents while driving. Ascending the age limit will lower that rate by giving inexperienced drivers to to gain needed practice before driving by themselves. Statistics have shown that three out of every car
Many people think it is a good idea to change the driving age from 16 to 18. They think it would reduce crashes and stress on parents. They also think it would help out parents that has jobs. However, I believe raising the minimum driving age from 16 to 18 is good because some people has a job, some have sports, and some people are responsible.
There is a debate of whether or not the legal driving age should be lowered. This can effect citizens because there will be younger people driving. Some people think that younger people shouldn’t be driving. I believe that the legal age for driving should be lowered because people should learn early, the age is too high and they have more time to learn with their parents.
Many people think that the driving age should be moved up to age 18 or 21 for teenage drivers in the U.S. I believe that that idea is a futile idea and will not be very effective.
Many states have increased the driving age at which teens can begin driving because of safety concerns. Some people say that teens need to understand how to handle situations or be more mature. Others would say that teens need to be more aware of the dangers that come with driving. The age requirement to drive should not be raised because driving gives one freedom, driving allows teens to work, and driving teaches responsibility.
Raising the driving age will cause more death to the older teen by them waiting until their 18 because if they wait they wouldn't have to go through the hoops young teen had to go through. Aubrey’s article states, “ 18 year old drivers increased, and they were behind the wheel and 1,086 more fatal accidents including 18 year olds.” Although scientist have found that 16- year olds have more fatal car crashes. 16 year olds have better experience then 18 year olds because some 16 year olds go through
The minimum driving age should be raised because teen drivers need more experience and deadly car crashes will decrease. As a teenager one of the many things wanted is freedom and independence. Although knowing what you want is a good thing, it is not so good to take a risk on something as serious as driving and have a “know-it all” attitude. With motor vehicle crashes being the leading cause of death for U.S. teens, raising the minimum driving age is a very important decision. When considering this change we need to remember that it is a decision that will affect all of us.
Once I turned 16 years old I started learning the basic rules of the road and driving. I was learning many things without even having to get on the road before I was ready. I was taught by my parents whom which have been driving for 20 years and more with a license. I had to learn the basic fundamentals of how to be responsible for myself and others before getting on the road with other drivers. Once I got enough practice I was driving on the road with supervision until I was able to handle driving on my own. Of course I had restrictions on where I can go and what time I have to be back by. The restrictions didn’t even have to be by law it could be from parents as well. But coming from someone that has been driving for about a year now I believe the driving age should not be raised.
In my opinion I believe that the minimum durning age should be raised . The minimum age can dangerous or not in different people's opinion. Teenagers don't have that much experience as other adults who been driving for a while . Teens it's not that they are reckless but they make simple mistakes , like failing to scan the road , misjudging driving conditions and become distracted . Some of these problems are because they can be addressed through what experts call narrative driving , having adults drivers point out to teenage passengers , examples of unsafe driving and explain to them how they are dealing with distractions on the road
In 2014, 2,270 teens in the U.S. ages 16-19 were killed and 221,313 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. State legislature should raise minimum driving age from 16 to 18 because of the immaturity level of 16 year olds, responsibility, and they would be older and have more experience. If driving age was moved up it would make the roads a much safer place to be.
Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown on CBS News, shows that “More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16-year-old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration” (CBS NEWS). One huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times states, “The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a minimum driver's license age of 17. The report cited a study from 1992-96 in which the rate of crash-related deaths among 16- and 17-year-olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver's license age of 16 and 4 months” (Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while driving is highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver.
No matter the age, there will always be accidents, it is a part of learning. It is ridiculous to even consider raising the driving age. The driving age should stay the same because teens can help their parents, teens are starting to become mature, and the driving age has always been sixteen, so do not change it
All of the studies that have been carried out in this field show that younger drivers that are behind the wheel are more likely to be involved in serious accidents - raising the age would make the roads a much safer place for
On the counterclaim side if the driving age is raised to 18 then it will save young lives. On Average about nine teens ages 16-19 are killed everyday from car wrecks. If it's raised to 18 then there won’t be as many teens ages 16 and 17 killed in car wrecks. A lot of teens lose their lives a year do to car accidents. On average about 6,000 teenagers die a year due from car wrecks. So that's why it might be a good idea. According to( DRIVE-SAFELY.NET) “ A sixteen year old is almost twice as likely to die in a car crash then a 30 year old.”
Raising the age should help teens not commit car accidents. In 1995 through 2004 there was 30,917 fatalities in accidents involved 15 to 17 year olds, according to a study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. A third of those fatalities were teens themselves. The others were pedestrians, passengers, and people in cars that got hit. Raising the driving age may seem burdensome to parents and teens.
For safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. My state legislature is considering raising the driving age to 16 to 18. I think this is a horrible idea. How can employed teens get to work? How can some teens get to school? Teens like me have to drive home from practice every day. Everybody cannot ride with their parents because they’re busy.
