Autism is a syndrome from the result of a neurological disorder that has a huge effect on the normal fuctions of the brain. In the movie, Rain Man, and the book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, the main characters are autistic. In the book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Christopher has another adventure, after his neighbor’s dog is mysteriously murdered, which leads him to find his mother. In the movie, Rain Man, however, Raymond Babbitt, the autistic brother of Charlie Babbitt, inherits all the money from their late father. When Charlie finds out that he gets a mere car and a rose garden, he searches for where the rest of the inheritance has gone, thus sparking the adventure with his brother, whom he had never known was his brother. Both main characters, however, are similar: they both need specific instructions, both of their fathers create family problems, and they both get upset when someone moves the furniture around. Firstly, Christopher and Raymond were similar, because they both needed specific instructions. In the book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Christopher is usually confused by instructions that other people give, because the are not detailed. He, also, didn’t stay away from investigating the dog’s death, even after his father told him to. This is very much like Raymond, from the movie, Rain Man, because he, also, needed specific instructions, which caused a lot of trouble. One time, Raymond was crossing the street, when immediately, the pedestrian crossing light changed to stop. Raymond stopped in the middle of the streen, because he got the specific instruction to stop not move out of the street.
