The colour used is important to the artwork because together they create a place of tranquillity meeting on coming havoc.
The lines that are used do not outline individual objects in the painting but define the shapes of each. They show the direction that the artist took when painting this particular art piece. They are delicate and sensitive lines in the sense that they are not always visible but they still define the object.
The painting has been painted to a deep 2D form. This form creates an illusion of a large amount of space. As if to create the illusion that you were looking out past the village towards the horizon. This was important so to capture the full effect of havoc reaching the harmony.
The shape of the artwork is soft and flowing into each section. By using this format the artist has created a piece of volume and depth.
Interpretation
A peaceful village in a sense of harmony with an on coming storm, darkness and gloom. The black birds are flying out of the impending doom to shelter.
My interpretation of what is happening is the village is peaceful sort of like the soul and then the storm comes and suddenly everything is in havoc. As if the painter had some form of inner turmoil when painting.

The color tone is mostly analogous in the mural; however, there are complementary colors in detail elements such as the artist uses blue and green for large areas to represent river and mountains, uses red and orange to paint houses, huts, horses, small roads and clothes in the village to create emphasis point. The type of line is actual line, which is continuous. The edges of the objects do differ from the background because they are separated by color. The texture is visual, because Flack is using line and color to create the illusion of texture in this flat painting. The emphasis and focal point is achieved by intensifying color, however, the placing of the objects and images could also be another method. At first, I believed that the objects were just placed at random, but if I look closely, each object is placed so we can distinguish it from its surroundings.

When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it was more. In the picture the shadowy men look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake that forms into this river that is surrounded by tall grass is the way out, or at least a place to hide until the coast is clear. During that time in my life I felt
