Music in the American Revolution.
A 3D project by tynell hazel
Purpose of music during the American Revolution was, to boost morale, to communicate and to be organized. The music consisted of drums and fifes. The drums were used to signal the army where to go Drums also told the soldiers in camp when to wake up, fetch wood, or food, and when to show up for church. The drummers and Fifers was little boys whose fathers were soldiers or older men who are no longer at fighting age. Music for the army standardized from Drillmaster Baron Friedrich Von Stuben. ⅓ of the colonist supported the revolution. ⅓ of the colonist was loyal to Great Britain. ⅓ was undecided or neutral. Music was used to reflect a deep divided within the colonial population
For this extra credit project, I watched 1776, a musical that goes through the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence. It begins with a song, as any good musical does. The story focuses on John Adams, a delegate from Massachusetts at the Continental Congress in Philadelphia. The story begins on May 8th, 1776, and John Adams’ unrelentless tirade on Congress to vote for independence. Congress is not fon of the idea, and Adams turns to Ben Franklin for help. Franklin suggests that they send Richard Henry Lee, a delegate from Virginia, to the Virginia House of Burgesses to get a resolution on independency. About a month later, he returns with a resolution. The colonies vote on whether to debate the issue, with a 6-5 vote for debate.
General Lee once remarked, “Without music, there would have been no army” (Kehoe). The New York Herald concurred with Lee in 1862 when a reporter wrote, “All history proves that music is as indispensable to warfare as money; and money has been called the sinews of war. Music is the soul of Mars...” (Bowman). It is evident from these quotes the important role music played in helping soldiers from both armies cope during the war. The Civil War would have been immensely different without the considerable influence that music had on both the Union and Confederate armies. Music played a significant role in motivating soldiers to overcome their hardships in both the Union and the Confederate armies by entertaining and comforting, bringing back memories of home and family, and strengthening the bonds between comrades and helping forge new bonds.
Parading on the outskirts of Mobile while dressed up as a Chickasaw chief is how one man became an important factor in the history of Mobile, Alabama, in the mid 1800’s. Now, a day set aside for this man, parades with floats, beads, moonpies, and loud music remind Mobilians of their favorite time of the year, Mardi Gras. The carnival celebration of Mardi Gras has played a big role in the history of the southern cities Mobile, Alabama, and New Orleans, Louisiana, but the history that everyone believes about the carnival and the people that have contributed to it is not always as true as it seems.
The American Revolutionary War was the most influential war in American History. The Background of the war is the British were taxing the colonists heavily and creating outrageous laws. Such as the Intolerable Acts, where the British took away access to the Boston Port. They also took away some of their rights to self government. They made trail for British officials available in Britain and made it legal to search homes and buildings. The colonists were fed up with the British and started rebelling. They had rebellions such as the Boston Tea Party, where they dumped tons of Britain's tea into the Boston Harbor. The start of the battle took place in Lexington Massachusetts. A unknown minuteman fired a shot at a British soldier which, started
I believe that out of all the revolutions that occurred in this time period, the American Revolution was the most important out of all the others. In this revolution, Americans created many sets of reforms which inspired other countries to reform their government and economy. The American Revolution was the most important because it marked a turning point for America and its economy.
Music was important to the Union and also to the Confederacy. The troops sang on battlefields, around campfires and while marching. They sang to make
The American Revolution started for numerous motives, some of them were; political changes, declaration of freedom and equal rights. In the British colonies, prior to 1750 provided the basis for a course to America becoming an independent nation under its own control with its own government. Eventually, the relationship between the colonists and the British brought in consequences the Revolutionary War. America political thought came from the Enlightenment, American Revolution, and American Industrialism.
Alexandra Theodore Professor Cameron HIST 4600 6/4/2018 The war for freedom and independence did not apply to all men. The American Revolution is a war that was fought between 1775 and 1783.
Music played a major role in the way people lived during the World War II era. It affected the way people coped and the way people grieved. While this era was a very serious and bleak time, people still found joy in music. World War II was the first war to happen in the age of electronically mass distributed music. The role of music during this time helped keep positive spirits among people all around the world. On a different note, the Germans played music to their soldiers to motivate them to continue to fight. Music was used as propaganda throughout the countries involved to gain public support.
It is generally agreed upon that the Revolution was guaranteed- even foretold- since the idea of settling on it was even suggested- no one can give a large group of people the idea to run themselves and still keep control from thousands of miles away. England had it, but lost that control of their child nation in 1766 when they revoked the Stamp Act and gave the colonists the notion that they had the power and authority to independently run the budding country. After being allowed this minute freedom, the colonists were not pleased with Parliament 's taxes and attempts of an iron fist hold on the Americas- and along with their opposing views on nearly everything, decided that they were no longer pleased with being considered British. Salutary neglect also contributed to the colonists ' inflated sense of pride- aptly named because at this time England 'neglected ' the colonies, giving them room for individual theories, politics, beliefs, and the abilities to run their own lives for a while. The freedom was too much for them to go back to how things were before when England decided to tighten their grip. At this time, the colonists started a war to free themselves.
The Results of Unchecked Ambition William Shakespeare’s skills have allowed us to dive deeper into the human condition and the analyzed results of unchecked ambition through a piece that has stood unrivalled over the centuries known as Macbeth. Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare is a powerful tragic and action packed play where the audience is implanted with a deeper understanding of the results of the decisions that we make. Macbeth is the 16th century story based on a man by the name of Macbeth. He was originally a loyal and honest man, and his descent into murder and unfaithfulness is the tale of how ambition can smear even the cleanest of the souls.

The reason I chose the American Revolution as my topic was mainly because to me I thought it was very relevant subject to speak upon and not many of us have knowledge of how we even became the United States of America. Basically the American Revolution was one of many steps taken to develop our democracy type of government that we do have today. Also it tells about how the original thirteen broke away from the British harsh government taxes. To be honest I chose this topic simply because it was and I’ve done a report on this back in grade school. These are the causes that led up to the war (not the signing because its already prior knowledge)
Music has played a vital role in human culture and evidence based on archaeological sites can date it back to prehistoric times. It can be traced through almost all civilizations in one form or another. As time has progressed so has the music and the influences it has on people. Music is an important part of popular culture throughout the world, but it is especially popular in the United States. The music industry here is, and has been, a multi-million dollar business that continues to play an important role in American popular culture. This is also a art form and business that is forever changing as the times and more importantly, technology changes. Technology has changed the way music is made as well as how it is produced,
In addition, a president who is abusive to others in their administration can create a toxic-workplace that won’t benefit America. When Infowars made the claim the Clinton is a rapist and sold shirts with his face and the world “rape” down below. Of course, the viewers believed the claim and they bought the shirts. Some took it a bit far as they committed character assassination. They went to Hillary Clinton rallies with their shirt and yelled out that Bill Clinton is a rapist.
