What is the main purpose of our government? Our government’s purpose is to protect the citizens, and provide guidance to those citizens as they live under its protection. Sure, the government has other responsibilities such as money, production, and trade; but its main purpose should be to keep its citizens safe. By having a government that runs the country and protects its citizens, the people can live knowing that they are safe. Our government and all those that work in it, should make our protection its top priority. Many presidents, scholars, and important leaders before us have claimed this as well. Abraham Lincoln, for example, stated that “the legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to
This is why it is commonly called the supreme law of the land. The purpose of the government is found in the Preamble and for the government to be successful; the Founding Fathers established three main principles on which our Government is based:
The six purposes of government are to: keep order, provide security, settle conflicts, set policies, make budgets, and interact with other communities.
The purpose of our new constitution is to create a government structure, while also having provisions to keep the government in check and keep the people protected from the government. It also helps to to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
The Declaration of Independence is a document, saying how the British government wanted to halt their authority, thus wanting to construct their own government . It starts off, by saying that it introduced reason it was created- colonists beliefs about the purpose of the government. Also, complaints against King George lll, actions he took that the colonists believed violated their rights and principle of government. Finally, the colonists officially declared the United States as a independent nation. "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not" (Thomas Jefferson).
Protecting America is the first and most important duty of our federal government. The Constitution wisely distributes important roles in
As stated before, Locke determined that the purpose of government is to protect life, liberty and property. In chapter IX, he gave us the basic concept of government. “First, there wants an established, settled, know law, received and allowed by common consent to be the standard of right and wrong, and the common measure to decide all controversies between them (P. 124). This, as he described later, is the legislative branch. He goes into more detail in chapter XI. “Secondly, there wants a
To adequately explain the purpose of government, we must first understand what government is. Humans learned early on the importance of needing an organized set of rules to govern over one another. Whether it was a dictatorship, a monarchy, or even a democracy, history has provided us with many examples of various structures dating back to some of the earliest known civilizations. The one thing they all held in common is that they embraced a system, also known as a social contract to create and enforce laws for those living within their lands. What most interesting is all the influences our founding fathers drew upon when creating the American governmental system.
The role of the government in our country is defined in our Constitution as to, "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the
When looking up the definition of a government it says, “the governing body of a nation, state, or community”(dictionary.com). This helps to understand it a bit more, but what is the purpose of a government. Government has many purposes that keep its people safe and protected, this includes to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. There are so many ways that the government is use and there are so many sub categories and even those have categories. So when one is faced with a question like this there any number of responses, and but the main purpose of a
There are several functions of American Government that are important to the success of this country but I am going to choose three that I think are the most crucial. One of the function of the American government that is important is to protect their sovereign territory and their people and to provide national defense. I think this is a key function of the American government. This protects citizens from both at home and abroad from acts that endanger them from their well-being. An example of this is in the event of a war it is crucial to have national defense to protect the citizens of their territory and those who are in the armed services. Though the rules and responsibilities vary through time, governments must create them. Governments offer the limits for everyday behavior for citizens, protect them from outside interference and often provide for their security.
Why is government necessary? In the words of Alexander Hamilton, “Why has government been instituted at all? Because the passions of men will not conform to the dictates of reason and justice, without constraint” (Federalist No. 15 137). Men have a sin nature and must have an authority set in place to keep them from falling into anarchy. America has federal and state governments with a system of checks and balances for exactly this reason, but one sector of the government has overstepped the bounds that were set for it in this country’s infancy. In order to answer the question of whether more power should be put into the hands of the federal or state government, three things must be considered: the history of state’s rights in America, the differing types of government, and the constitution itself.
The structure of our American Government was founded in the Constitution of the United States. The Constitution was written to be the “supreme law of the land,” and produces a democratic republic, where citizens govern themselves (Our American Government, n.d). The purpose of our government, is to “establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” (Our American Government, n.d.). For our country to accomplish this purpose our Founding Fathers created three principles, “inherent rights, self-government, and separation of powers” (Our American Government, n.d.). The government was developed to ensure order in society and protect its citizens, but with all systems, there is strengths and weakness, let’s examine those strengths and weakness. Let’s first look at the strength and weakness of the U.S. Constitution.
What is the purpose of our government? Is the meaning of Lady Justice true? Does every citizen have equal rights and opportunities as stated in the United States Constitution? If so, why are there so many cases of people fighting for equality? How can we approach this effectively?
The fundamental guide to our government, the US Constitution, lists the obligations of government. Among these obligations is the promotion of the general welfare of the people of the United States. (D'Augostino, 2008) Personal safety is a primary advantage of public order. Sanction against and
What is government? Government is a person or group of people who control and make decisions for a country. It has a number of particular roles to help make a country survive and function successfully. I believe that without the roles a government provides a country would not function and would eventually fail. Therefore, I think government is necessary because without it there would not be any provided protection, resources, and regulations.
