Pulling out from the Paris Agreement
Sea level are rising, Glacier are melting, forest are dying, and wildlife is struggling and it is called global warming. The earth’s temperature is increasing day by day due to the greenhouse gases, which is caused due to humans activities. So human are responsible for this and it is the moral duty of a human being to take care of this problem. In order to maintain balance in earth and controlling global warming, the whole world was assigned to participate in the Paris agreement. Paris agreement is working as a team to control global warming, focusing on using renewable energy and fighting against climate change to make earth as healthy as before. So, the Paris agreement is protecting the earth and

Nevertheless, Trump has gone against this theory and made a decision against human welfare. In the language of Aristotle, Trump is not recognized as the virtuous person because he is unable to determine the situation properly and not capable of bringing happiness to humans. So, there was another reasonable and beneficial choice which Trump did not choose. Instead of pulling the United States from that agreement, Trump has an excellent chance to help his country and lead the world for the better future of human kinds. If only Trump decides to participate in the Paris agreement, United States would have been important part of that agreement because United States has the highest emissions of greenhouse gases which is the main cause of global warming. So, that country can focus on alternating the use of fossil fuel and coal with renewable energy sources. This action will lead to a maximum reduction of carbon dioxide and other dangerous greenhouse gases which finally helps to control global warming.
There was another better choice for Donald Trump than this irrelevant choice. If I was in that situation, I would never withdraw my participation from that agreement because it is beneficial for all people and can make people happier. According to John Stuart Mill’s greatest happiness principle “actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote
Global warming is the steady heating of Earth’s land, oceans, and atmosphere caused primarily by human activity. Climate change is one of the world’s biggest challenges right now, from people actively arguing that it doesn’t exist- to other’s who don’t care enough to do anything about it. There’s evidence showing that climate change is happening and affecting our world now and from what it seems, if action isn’t taken, major consequences will soon arise. Most of the world’s land mass has experienced a 0.2-1.0 degree Celsius average temperature increase since the 1970s, the temperatures of the Artic has increased at almost twice the mean global rate. Climate change is caused by human factors such as greenhouse gases and ozone depletion and because humans are so dependent on fossil fuels in their day to day lives, the issue at hand is only going to get worse.
Ovid one said “Happy are those who dare courageously to defend what they love.” Have you ever had courage to defend someone or something you love? I have had courage once, it was when my sister was being bullied. This is just like the theme of the story Rikki Tikki Tavi. The theme of the fictional story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling is Courage is key when it comes to protecting loved ones.
Pulling out of the Paris Agreement is a Rejection of the rest of the world! It's a wall between US and almost every other country in the world. It's telling the Whole World we no longer want to participate in Making the World Great.
The UNFCCC is working with the various governments around the world to stabilize the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere to keep the planet from warming more than 2ºC above pre-industrial temperatures (Watts, 2015). The most noted of the work is the annual Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings that began with COP1 in Berlin back in 1995. The COP3 adopted the Kyoto Protocol, even though it wasn’t fully accepted by all member nations. The COP21 was an effort to legally bind members to their submitted plans of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs), defining what level of greenhouse gas production each nation would commit to not exceeding from 2025-2030. Prior to the INDCs, a bleak outlook was forecast in 2009-2010 of global temperature rising between 4-5ºC. That figure was restated by the UNFCCC prior to the COP21 in Paris, to below 3ºC, due to the commitments of the INDCs (Watts, 2015).
The decision to ratify the Treaty of Paris threw the United States into the category of imperial power. In the minds of Americans at the time, this was different from that of the English and their colonizing project. Americans viewed European colonization and imperialism as that of dividing and conquering. European nations intentions were to place a flag wherever possible to extend borders. For Americans, their role was much different. Instead of creating an empire, they were helping those who could not help themselves. In Cuba, the U.S had ideals of spreading democracy and creating a better country for those who lived there. Spanish control of Cuba had led to heinous living conditions and much of the people living in poverty. The same was
If President Trump follows through his “America Free Energy Plan” promise it will undo a majority of President Obama’s actions to reduce the United States greenhouse gas emissions. Thus having a negative influence on the climate. Another problem that can occur is
The aboriginals are the first people of Canada they spoke in many languages and each group has its own name, John Cabot the explorer sails to Canada's east coast and claims it for England but my 1534 Jacques Cartier claims that now the area is known for France. The Treaty of Paris ends seven years of fighting between France and England. France gives its Canadian settlements to England by 1763. Colonies now known as Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec join to create the Dominion of Canada. Its government is similar to Britain's and includes a governor-general, who represents Britain's royalty.by 1867. 1873Canada creates the North-West Mounted Police, now known as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or Mounties, to help keep order.
It requires all parties to put their best efforts and requirements to report emissions on a regular basis. Every 5 years, there will be a global stock take to assess the progress toward achieving the purpose of the Agreement (UNFCCC- The Paris Agreement, 2018). A climate change conference where leaders all over the world came together to address climate change, have a goal to deliver action by 2020. In order to be successful, participating countries must make enough provisions to develop financial and technological support to help developing countries. The Marrakech partnership for good clime change action provides agreed outcomes in Paris, by providing a detailed structure to help speed up and get rid of gas emissions, scale down the pace of climate action among parties and non-parties steak holders in all parts of the world. Each year the action plan will continue to evolve as progress is made and new challenges and opportunities arise. The Paris agreement requires all parties to forward their effects nationally determined contributions. This includes regular reports on emissions and plans to success. As all parties have agreed to work together during the time frame 2017-2020, there has been current progeress to minimizing emissions (UNFCCC- Marrakech partnership for global climate action,
(Scientists say we must stay below a two-degree increase to avoid catastrophic climate impacts.) To help make the deal happen, the Obama administration pledged $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund, an international organization dedicated to helping poor countries adopt cleaner energy technologies. Under the terms of the Paris agreement, participating nations will meet every five years, starting in 2020, to revise their plans for cutting CO2 emissions. Beginning in 2023, they will also have to publicly report their progress (© Natural Resources Defense Council 2017).
Whether it is in the interest of the nation or not, Donald J. Trump's policies are sure to generate quite a lot of turmoil within the United States of America and other nations around. If he tries to force his way through most of his policies, rather than establishing diplomatic techniques in getting people to agree with your desires, it may spark an international unrest against America. It may further strengthen the tension between the U.S. and her neighbour nation, Mexico. In life, you win some and lose some. He has to be somewhat malleable in his
On June 1, 2017, from the White House Rose Garden, President Donald Trump announced that he will be withdrawing the US from the landmark Paris Climate Agreement. This could be a step back from the progress that was being made during the Obama administration. It was a very puzzling decision because the majority of Americans supported the agreement. Although some people think that the Paris Climate Agreement is not important, it was a poor decision to withdraw from the agreement because it has the potential to be a very important to Earth's future.
As Brandus also points out, “Trump’s actions… have spoken louder than any words…”, not only has he pulled out of the Paris Climate Accords, but he has also scrapped a bill that was put in place to curb carbon emissions for the sake of more ‘efficient’ business. The worst part is that this decision seems to already be backfiring on President Trump. President Trump cut former President Obamas Clean Power Plan, with the result being that businesses are not required to calculate how much their project cost in terms of carbon emissions and the effect on our planet. This will cost so much in the future, not just because we will be further damaging the earth, but our later attempts to repair any damage will be that much more expensive. Brandus also points out how Trump’s EPA head, Scott Pruitt “He has weakened water safety rules and moved to eliminate programs that limit children's exposure to lead-based paint -- which is known to cause brain damage” (Brandus 2). This is directly affecting our nation’s future in a negative way. These actions that are being made are going to damage our children, and leave them hurting worse than we are now. Of course there are some criticisms to the Paris Climate Accords as well, such as the points made by Marcos Arruda, in Political Challenfges of the Paris Climate Agreement. Arruda rightly comments that the agreement
Among the main goals of the Paris Agreement is to hold “the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels” (Paris Agreement, 2015). That is, countries involved in the agreement are expected to implement measures that
The white male shows obvious signs that he is hijacking a car and continues to do so for 30 minutes, but bystanders are not even giving him second glance. A policeman passes by without even intervening with what the white male is doing. The black male does the same, but there are whispering among the spectators and looks of disapprovals are given. 2 minutes later, a policeman approaches the black male, swears and says, “Get your hands behind your back”. It’s in human nature to have this evil assumption that someone different from them is an immoral being. In this case, white skin to black skin. To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee takes place during the 1930’s in the small town of Maycomb. A quiet, humble, and respectable black man, Tom Robinson, is accused of raping a white girl, Mayella. No man steps up to defend this man, for blacks were deeply looked down upon. But Atticus, Scout’s father, makes it his job to defend Tom against all the odds, for it is the right thing to as well as to uphold his own morals. When it comes to equality for Atticus, whether one is poor or rich, black or white, all humans are equal no matter what. Readers see Atticus’s firm standpoint on equality as he defends Tom Robinson in the courtroom and through his lessons to his children, Scout and Jem. As Tom Robinson’s trial draws to a conclusion, Atticus makes his final comeback, declaring that Mayella kissed Tom who is a black male. In doing so, she did something that was so unspeakable in society
Global warming is the environmental and social changes caused by emissions of greenhouse gases. Human activities have been the primary cause of this significant change, resulting with extreme weather conditions, increasing sea levels, and climate changes. In this paper I will compare and contrast natural versus anthropogenic climate changes of global warming, mitigation strategies, mitigation effectiveness, policy implications, costs, and address some policy changes to help stabilize global climate.
