For years, people around the world have argued and debated whether or not Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are beneficial.
The Public Service Announcement (PSA) does not do enough to impose distracted driving. Distracted driving threatens to become a deadly epidemic on U.S. roads. In 2008, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that nearly 6,000 people lost their lives and more than half a million were injured in crashes involving driver distraction! With all the technology advancements, teens are finding new ways to text and drive causing more crashes and deaths according to an article published by BUnow. One may say, "Well this will never happen to me.” but if the PSA is not doing enough to stop distracted driving with all the technological advancements, your loved one could be part of that 6,000. States are passing a bill that fines
Sometimes when you put off doing something you get hurt. I learned this while doing a project in my eighth grade English class. We were assigned a Public Service Announcement project during the last weeks of school. Everyone was required to choose from a list of topics for their public service announcement. Our topic was on what people can do to save the environment. We made the project with a mixture of photos from the internet and photos we personally captured. Then, we added music and the project would be complete once we recorded. Two-thirds of the way done with our project, my group decided to slow down our pace. We stopped the project altogether and we remembered the assignment once our teacher reminded us. She told us that it was scheduled
Methamphetamine also known as "meth" is a very addictive stimulant drug. Meth is classified as a Schedule II drug, thus meaning it has a high potential for abuse. Approximately 1.2 million Americans report using meth in the past year, and 440,000 in the past month. Meth can be swallowed, injected, snorted, or smoked and goes by the street names crank, fast, ice, and crystal. When meth is injected or taken by mouth the effects last for 6-8 hours or 10-12 hours when smoked. When a person uses meth they have an increased amount of energy, and are more alert, however the effects of meth are very dangerous because it increases your blood pressure and heart rate. The reason individuals feel pleasure when using meth is because meth causes a quick
Around 570,000 people die annually do to drug abuse, 20,000 of these deaths are from illegal drugs such as crystal methamphetamine. Crystal methamphetamine, also known as “meth,” “crank,” “chalk” or “speed” is one of the most, if not the most addictive drug to abuse. When using meth you develop a false sense of happiness and well-being, and automatically get a strong desire to continue using. Meth can be used by smoking it, snorting it, or injecting it into your body. some even consume it orally. Any way you decide to use it, it is going to ruin your life. Not only will it ruin your life it is going to ruin the lives of everyone that loves you.
The brain is a complex machine that can be disturbed by many stimulants. Methamphetamines (abbreviated as “meth” not the same as methadone) are highly addictive psychostimulants. The brand name for meth is Desoxyn, however, slang terms include the following: crystal meth, speed, ice, fast, chalk, crank, etc. (Harper, 2015). The media has impacted the popularity of the drug, primarily seen in the television series Breaking Bad, which makes the business of crystal meth appealing to its viewers. Meth is a relatively inexpensive drug as it is usually manufactured in small mom and pop shops, which are family orientated and passed down from generation to generation. Meth can be sold as a pill, white crystalized powder or in chunk form which is bitter tasting and odourless. Intravenous injection is the most common route of administration, however, it can also be administered through an intranasal route, inhalation or oral consumption. According to the United Nations, more people are addicted to meth than to heroin and cocaine combined because it is cheaper and the high lasts much longer (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, 2014).
methamphetamine), also known as ecstasy or “Molly,” is a psychoactive drug that is similar to both the stimulant drug amphetamine and the hallucinogen mescaline. Those taking the drug typically experience feelings of increased energy, euphoria, emotional warmth and empathy. However, there can also be negative side effects to its use, including confusion, depression, insomnia, and anxiety. Additionally, heavy users also experience confusion, memory loss, and problems with attention. It is unknown whether or not the drug is addictive, but some experiments have shown that some users report symptoms of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal. (Volkow, 2013)
Other amphetamines, which differ from amphetamine by small changes in molecular makeup (composition or structure), include methamphetamine, Benzedrine, MDMA, and Dexedrine. The most commonly abused amphetamine is methamphetamine, also commonly known as meth. While this substance, like most amphetamines, does have medical uses, it is the most widely available (generally in the form of crystals) and provides the most intense high. Further, the chemical qualities that make methamphetamine (and amphetamines in general) a popular recreational drug also make it highly toxic to the body. Meth users are at a high risk of losing their teeth prematurely, a condition known as “meth mouth.” This is due both to the dry mouth caused by the chemical qualities of meth and the poor personal hygiene of meth users (as paranoia and other psychological disorders, which are not terribly conducive to personal cleanliness, are side effects of meth use). Also, meth users are at elevated risk of Parkinson’s disease because of the way methamphetamine promotes enormous release of neurotransmitters in the
Methamphetamines are priority substances to prevent in the framework of the National Drug Strategy 2017-2026, there are two issues will cause difficult to prevent Methamphetamines users from ice drugs. Firstly, it is hard for Methamphetamines users to recover from dependence and withdrawal symptoms that is because they are highly depend on the crystal methamphetamines than other form. The second one this ploy drug using always along with ices abuse, this will put them in a more dangerous situation, and they will not realize it, thereby, they might miss effective treatment.
Meth is one of the top addictive drugs in the world and falls in at the fifth most addictive.Meth can cause very traumatic things to your facial and body features. It can cause itching and scratching of the body and hallucinations. Even though people know the affects they will still try and buy it and sell to it gain a high and money.Sometimes people will sell it to get more than what they already had.People that do this get really bad affects that in the future cause them to lose body weight and muscle. After people see this and think about what has happened to themselves they undergo a grueling process to undo the mess it has caused but in reality the things they done and people they’ve hurt will never be the same.
Public service announcements have historically been used to inform and persuade audiences on a specific subject. Numerous theories and techniques have been used to accomplish this. As television and film have evolved over time and spread to more diverse audiences, the subject matter and techniques have also evolved. The environmental movement did not truly form until the mid-1900s; therefore, information on environmentally themed public service announcements are limited. However, the PSAs that have been created took place in more modern era; thus, having greater previous knowledge than other movements and fields.
PSAs, or public service announcements, are sent out by government or local institutions to help reduce the number of incidents relating to a certain area. PSAs are often about public safety, covering issues like bicycling protection, anti-drinking and drugs, and car safety. One big issue that is given a lot of attention to by the Department of Transportation, highway safety, and police departments are distracted driving incidents that they believe can be stopped. PSA’s can help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents because if they are presented effectively, they can make the people think about their driving skills and habits, and make them think about it both out of driving, and while driving. However, many people believe that PSAs
No one gets up in the morning and says I think that I will drive distracted so that I can kill myself or take the life of an innocent bystander today, but that is exactly what happens over nine times a day in the United States because of distracted driving. Nine lives are cut short. The United States Department of Transportation reports that cell phones are involved in 1.6 million auto crashes each year that cause half million injuries. Individuals who drive while sending or reading text messages are 23 percent more likely to be involved in a car crash than other drivers. There are many media campaigns that have used Public Service Announcements with no effect on reducing the number of distracted driving incidents because teens are overwhelmingly compelled to constantly monitor and respond to their cell phones because they do not believe that anything bad will ever happen them. So, wasting more dollars on Public Service Announcements will not reduce the number of distracted driving incidents. Hopefully, technological advances can countermand the teen brain. Nevertheless, some say that Public Service Announcements that make an emotional appeal utilizing convincingly credible logical information do help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents by making teens aware of the terrible consequences that can occur from distracted driving. Granted that, no one sets out to take the life of another or their own, but the teenage mind can’t wrap its self around the aftereffects
Public service announcement; Tomorrow I begin classes as a Junior in college. I'm very excited for this upcoming school year. I will have a heavy and structured schedule this year for I am taking my college courses, maintaining a morning and afternoon job, and staying as an active member of two organizations on campus. Unfortunately that means I will not be available to speak to friends and family as much as I would like too. There will be multiple times where I will have my phone on "Do not Disturb" due to me being at work, doing homework, in a meeting, or working on an event for the school. The plus side is that I am able to work on school work while I am at my job and I have a fantastic group of friends and family that support me. Please
An individual’s first experience with Meth is typically accompanied by acute anxiety with sweating and compulsive talking, while the comedown generally affects more physical fatigue and depression. What most users seek is the initial rush or flash, which can last up to fifteen minutes. Only experienced users can identify the difference between the rush and the flash, which is brought on by ether or other additives. Some additives can be dangerous or deadly, and dealers who cut their product with these quickly become known as “burn artists”. Drug users will avoid such dealers, and instead look for Meth that has been commercially manufactured, such as Desoxyn.
