Our community is very controlling. For example, at birth, we are given necklaces with half of an intricately shaped pendant. The person we will ultimately end up with possesses the other half. We are also assessed then tattooed with a symbol. This symbol represents a talent that will serve the community. Once you are given this symbol, you are placed into one of three categories. Protecters, Providers, and Leaders. It’s all pretty self-explanatory. Protectors guard the city. They patrol the streets and keep the civilians safe. Providers can be anything they want, as long as they provide for the community. Somebody classified in the Provider group could be a seamstress, carpenter, or farmers. And last but not least, Leaders. You guessed it: they lead. They make all of the decisions, whether it’s about building a new factory or writing a new law, it’s up to them. Only a few people get chosen to be Leaders. They go through more tests than the Protectors and providers. They are also tested on how good of a leader they would make. The better they are, the higher rank they get. Sounds sane, right? Well, they way the choose the highest position, our King or Queen is not even remotely sane. …show more content…
It’s like the Hunger Games. They roam the wild for a few months, and whoever survives the longest is the winner and therefore ruler of our nation. The theory is that whoever is strong enough to last in the wild, is strong enough to rule the land. As you can imagine, it’s not the best way to find a ruler for the nation. Sometimes, the survivors are so stricken by what they’ve seen and done, they’re not even comprehensible. Then, it starts all of again. Most kids placed into the Leader category pray the get a high position, but not as high as King or
Leading a country takes more than just having a high status. Being a leader of a nation incorporates abilities that can make or break an administration. The life of a leader leaves little time for oneself. From the time of waking up, until the time to return to bed at night and that is if sleep can be permitted due to the hectic schedule to be kept while the leader is surrounded by servants. In today’s era, it is like being a celebrity and the paparazzi is everywhere taking
There are many different levels of government which exist and have a direct or indirect impact on people’s lives.
Contemporary society has developed a connotation for the title - leader - that correlates it to power, authority, and control. In reality, a leader is no different than their follower. As an ancient proverb states, “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” It is the leader's responsibility to make sure there is no weakest link, but that everybody exerts an equal amount of strength upon the chain in order to create a robust team. However, one link in particular is in charge of making sure the rest of the links maintain their fortitude. This specific piece is considered the leader, who shouldn’t display any apparent dominance over the others. This analogy is displayed in two contrasting excerpts - In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia
All societies, whether it is the United States of America, your high school football team, or just your group of friends, have some kind of social structure. Sometimes the rich have authority over the poor, sometimes the strong have authority over the weak, and sometimes the many have authority over the few. These patterns of authoritative structure can form or change in the blink of an eye and almost always have extensive consequence and
As individuals gain power, their higher authority often strives for an easily controlled and often manipulated
It is easy to presume that that person is in the position they are in because of money, connections or an extraordinary intellect. We may suppose that any adversity or problems that this type of person has encountered are on another level to those that we face. Perhaps we don't imagine that there were private obstacles to overcome, personality traits that needed adjustment or adaptation, that private insecurities or personal failings had to be surmounted. It is simplest to assume that the role of leadership was cut out for him/her alone. More often than not, one imagines that the "leader" in an individual emerges early on in life, apparent from an early age: a bright child with above average intelligence, active in all walks of life, successful in anything that he puts his/her hand to, popular with peers and admired by elders. But nothing is that simple.
group can become too controlling, unlike what we have endured under the hand of king after
There are several reasons I believe it is important to keep the leader from becoming too tyrannical. One of which is that the whole reason we broke away from England was because we wanted to get away from a system of government in which a single person rules
In examining the relationship between those who hold power and those who have status, when one holds power but doesn’t have the status to go with it, there is often negative behavior that follows. “Across
Having power is a domino effect. One person will rise to power and soon everyone will follow in their footsteps. No one likes to be dictated and that makes us start to rise to power. Just a little bit of power; like being in charge of a sibling can be the start of it all. Once they get a taste of it they will do anything to make sure they have it. In doing that they end up having a effect on the people around them because they don’t want to be dictated. That
For the vast majority of mankind's history, individuals have lived in stateless social orders, portrayed by an absence of concentrated expert, and the nonattendance of expansive disparities in monetary and political power.
In a pack of wolves, there will always be one alpha wolf. This would be the so called leader of the pack. The leader of the pack has the most influence. Society works in a similar way. In America we elect the president that has the most influence in the country. As in the pack of wolves, leaders tend to have a special something which makes people gravitate towards them.
With great power comes great responsibility, something every leader knows. A group’s appearance in essence is what its leader creates. This creation can be good or evil, in most cases it ends poorly. Men such as Hitler were great leaders, but what he transformed his group into was truly evil. He allowed all of his followers to belief that moral responsibility was of no importance, that ability to completely change others is what turns groups immoral. With no true conscience and without a leader promoting peace, violence and a lack of moral responsibility will always prevail in groups.
For centuries, the human population has progressed through the establishment of civilizations; some of the most advanced and notable ancient civilizations thrived on the foundation of a political or social hierarchy, in which a particular group held more power than the other. In Mesopotamia, for example, the king, who was at the top of the ladder, declared laws while slaves worked for the wealthier class. Even today, this hierarchical trend persists; in the United States, members of the judicial, executive, or legislative branch have more influence in politics than ordinary citizens. Within every republic, democracy, monarchy, etc. there will always be a person or group that contains more power than the majority of its citizens. Power can be
We believe it's the people’s choice of who they want in charge. The people look for a person who is responsible and have the characteristics of a strong leader. The longest a person can be a leader is 2 years before we have to vote for another. We do this so that our leader doesn't misuse his or her’s power and become a tyrant.
