Camping in Alaska, Arizona, and Colorado The wilderness is vast, unforgiving, and beauteous; those who visit it unprepared find thorns instead of roses, but even as tough as a trip into the wild is, the pros can be worth the cons. Many venture into camping with no wary thoughts about the dangers it brings; the wildlife, environment, weather, and location can instantaneously alter your seemingly perfect trip. Surprisingly, these problems can be avoided, but only through careful planning. Planning a camping trip revolves around: climate, location, and environment. For example, I would like to discuss three different places you can camp: Arizona, Colorado, and Alaska. To begin with, choosing a season like spring, summer or fall can greatly alter the temperature, and also determines the amount of rain you will experience. Because of its limited rainfall, Arizona is an extremely dry, arid state. If you arrange to camp there, you would need tools and nutrients fitted for a desert-like landscape. One of the more important items is water, without it you would be helpless; water is important no matter where you are, whether a barren desert, or bitter arctic wasteland. There is no doubt, In the Arizona desert; temperatures of over 125 degrees Fahrenheit have occurred, yet the average in July and August is commonly found to be around 104 to 107 degrees. Having escaped rule from a tyrannical British government, the United States was founded on ideals of freedom and equality for all people. These fantasies of universal egalitarianism turned out to be merely that: fantasies. American history is full of stories of the oppressed struggling to get the rights they deserve and of the controversy over these issues that consequently ensues. “The Hypocrisy of American Slavery” by Frederick Douglass and “We Shall Overcome” by Lyndon B. Johnson are two speeches made confronting two of these issues. Douglass’s speech, delivered in 1852, condemns the institution of slavery and maintains that slaves are men and are therefore entitled to freedom. Johnson’s speech, on the other hand, was written in 1965 and discussed the civil rights movement. In it, he implored local governments to allow all American citizens, regardless of race, to vote. Despite the significant gap in time between these two addresses, both speakers use similar persuasive techniques, including ethos, pathos, and parallelism, to convince their audience that change needs to be implemented in America.
In 1983, Raymond Carver introduced his short story “Cathedral” to the public. The first-person narrative takes place within the narrator’s home, where his wife is waiting upon the arrival of her blind friend Robert. The narrator, however, becomes more concerned about how Robert’s visit will affect him rather than enjoy the situation. Once Robert arrives, the narrator tries to understand the blind man, but he is unaware of what tasks Robert is capable of performing due to the narrator’s inability to “see”. In time, Robert shows the narrator the difference between looking and seeing through illustrations of a cathedral, drawn by the narrator with his eyes closed. “Cathedral’s” narrator exposes readers to anti-heroic views

Over 7,500 animals are killed in zoos because they are deemed surplus, as stated by Liz Tyson an animals rights activist. This giraffe in particular sparked a huge controversy. HIs name was Marius, he was homed at the Copenhagen Zoo and was 2 years old when the staff killed him with a bolt gun. Marius was then dissected and fed to lions in front of ongoing zoo goers. What got people fuming is that he was a healthy, young giraffe. Therefore I believe the killing of Marius should not be justified.
Michael Jordan once stated, “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb over it, go through it, or walk around it.” This inspirational quote motivated many to overcome adversity when challenged by it. The texts, Speak by Laurie Anderson, “Third and Final Continent” by Lahiri Lahiri, and “The Art of Resilience” by Hara Marano, all have themes similar to Jordan’s quotation. All three articles support this through symbolism, foreshadowing, and character interactions. A common theme that one must stay resilient in order to overcome challenges while also staying level-headed during the positive and negatives is shown in Speak, “The Third and Final Continent,” and “The Art of Resilience.”
The cost of college tuition is continually on the rise and has placed many burdens on high school students as well as their families. Some of the burdens that are placed are a result of parents putting pressure on their children to earn scholarships. Some of the burden is a result of students putting pressure on themselves to earn scholarships. Then, there is the burden of high college debt once the student graduates. Is this pressure really helping our students or is it hurting them? The bottom line is college tuition is skyrocketing out of control and something must be done before it destroys our families and our children.
With NFL Players kneeling everywhere and soldiers feeling unappreciated, our country is in shock. It all started by a player named Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, in 2016. This event persuaded numerous NFL players to continue this process. One by one, players all over the league began to protest to call attention to the issues of "racial inequalities and police brutality". With mixed reviews of this protest, I believe that kneeling during the National Anthem of the United States of America is disrespectful because it is abrasive, selfish, and hurtful. Also, I am not sure that all of those protesting in this manner know the true meaning of our national anthem or the flag that represents our freedom.
Many people in our society have been cast away and looked down upon because they are different from us. Others convey these messages including Harper Lee , in To Kill a Mockingbird , and "What , of this Goldfish , Would You Wish ? ",by Etgar Keret. We can accept others in many ways including ending discrimination , disregards people past action or choice , and being able to see stuff from others people's point of view. Humans need to always accept those who are different for the greater good of our society .
Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Donald Trump, has been under fire in the aftermath of possible collusion. Kushner has gone under investigation after emails were leaked of a Russian meeting and is being interviewed to get information. The dishonesty of Kushner, has shaken the trust within the government and the incriminating evidence keeps surfacing as the interviews conclude. The news focused on the four meetings that occurred during the 2016 presidential campaign, and the main people that were involved in the meeting.
In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet claims to be feigning madness. He decides to fake his madness to reveal the truth of his father’s death. Also, Hamlet does this to protect his own life and get revenge. Hamlet informs his friends that he is going to act crazy, and he acts crazy in the play. Hamlet informs Queen Gertrude that he was never mad. Throughout the play, Hamlet is merely acting mad because he has a clear plan that involves killing Claudius to get revenge for his father’s death.
Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
Throughout my period of searching for arguments and discussions, I had come across a couple videos on YouTube that appealed to me the most. One video was about how a girl had pushed her so-called boyfriend to suicide. The people in that video had mentioned how the girl was wrong with her actions and how could a human ever push anyone to do that. Another argument was a video over an Anti-Rape activist who had posted an explicit video to stand up against rape. The people in that discussion argued how she was either doing right or wrong in her actions. Both of these arguments are the most appealing to me so I will focus on them for my analysis. The reason I had chosen these arguments is that I like how they both have people who bring their emotions into the discussion to argue for their side of what they believe is right in the situation.
‘We are going to have so much fun guys!” this was one of many moments when I could confidently say I don’t believe I am my mother’s child. She was talking about our upcoming camping trip for spring break. While my friends went to Florida, South Carolina, and Hawaii, I was stuck driving 12 hours to my parents favorite camping spot in Maine. I can appreciate nature in small doses, yes butterflies are cute, and waterfalls are beautiful. But I don’t do camping. I mean why does anyone? The bear warnings at the beginning of a camp site should be scary enough. But if that doesn’t do it for you, think of the lack of running water, heat (or AC), and hot meals. Counting that day, I had a week left before being dragged to the woods.
Although most people might think that going on a camping trip is too much of a hassle and a time consuming activity, there are several tips from camping experts and enthusiasts on how to make the camping experience easy and enjoyable. Camping should be thoroughly executed in order to prevent speed bumps from turning into full blown issues along the way. When all the check lists and to do lists are executed properly, campers can truly maximize the overall positive outcome of the camping experience.
