I have carefully read and examined the clues and articles related to the so call crucified Canadian soldier. After doing so, I have come to a conclusion that the Canadian was not in fact crucified as many believed. In this article, I’ll explain the reason and clues that I found that confirmed that this Canadian had not been crucified. The first thing I looked into was the articles written around the globe on both May 18th, 1915, June 28th, 1915, and The Great War video posted on March 18th, 2017. The one thing that immediately caught my attention was the fact that there were only 3 eyewitnesses. Wouldn’t you think there would have been more considering it was near a battleground that had thousands of men? Not only were there only 3 eyewitnesses, people are claiming he was found in different places. Some are saying they found him at a barn door well others are saying he was found pinned to a cross. Based on these 2 articles and the video these are the main reasons is why I believe the Germans did not crucify the Canadian. …show more content…
This clue was an article written by The Toronto Star published on May 11th, 1915. According to The Toronto Star C.J.C, Clayton reported the incident to a sergeant and went on to say he the victim had been pinned and tied up to a tree. The Dublin Fusiliers, on the other hand, claimed they found the body nailed to the door with bullets. After reading this clue it just further confirmed that this story was false and most likely just used for propaganda against the
All Christians believe that Jesus is their savior, but there are many different ways his death can be interpreted. One of the ways we can look at Jesus’s death his through historical accounts. Almost all historians believe that there was a man named Jesus who had a large following, and was put to death by the Romans. But why, from a historical point of view, would Jesus be crucified? One major reason is that the Romans seen Jesus as a political threat. The Romans view order as the most important thing in their empire, and around that time there was a zealot uprising. Then, they see Jesus preaching about the coming of his “Kingdom” and so they thought that he was leading a revolution. Therefore, Jesus was executed at the hands of the Romans for being a Lestes, meaning bandit or outlaw. However, Jesus
It is easy to picture nearly the entire column, which was marching from Fort William Henry to Fort Edwards, being slaughtered when you hear the story. When 1600 armed, Indian warriors are attacking a defenseless, panicked column of about 2400 people (including women & children), there is not much left to the imagination how things happened. In reality, however, it did not happen the way that the most people think it did. Colonel Monro's own estimations were that 129 were killed and wounded among the British troops. Regarding the colonial militia, he said, "No Regular Accot Could be got from the Provincials but their Numbers Kill'd Could not be Less than Four Officers & about 40 Men. And very near as many Men Wounded." There is no doubt some killing occurred, but in the big
“The only two people that know I am innocent, is myself and the killer.” Imagine being blamed for a crime you did not commit, and nobody would believe you no matter what you said. Steven Truscott had forty-two years of his life taken from him for being charged with a crime he did not commit. He was charged at only the age of fourteen for murdering and raping twelve year old Lynne Harper. He then became the youngest death-row inmate after one of the most famous trials in the history of Canada. Steven Truscott should never have been convicted for the murder and rape of Lynne Harper due to the fact the forensic evidence was questionable the
“His testimony was responsible for the execution of some 35 persons, but, as the frenzy subsided, inconsistencies were discovered in his story.”
Debate over capital punishment is nothing new, but it reaches a whole new level when the accused is mentally ill. The question then becomes… was the perpetrator aware of his heinous actions by knowing right from wrong at the time of the crime or was the mental illness controlling his actions? While being sympathetic to the grief and heart break of the victim’s loved ones, I believe that execution for the mentally ill should not be allowed, because often their illness makes them incapable of knowing right and wrong of their actions. Many of those with mental illnesses often go undiagnosed and untreated, either by choice or by financial circumstances, because of the stigma and general lack of understanding associated with this type of diagnosis in our society.
The brigade inflicted great damage to the enemy troops with minimal casualties. Ultimately, Canada’s actions earned them a United States Presidential Unit Citation and prevented the communists from crossing through the 38th Parallel and recapturing South Korean territory once again.
The death penalty is still in use in the united states. The state with the most executions is in Texas with a total of 545 from 2017 to the year 1976 (Number of Executions, 2017). The death penalty is a very big debate. There are many reasons why and why people do and don’t like the death penalty.

In order to fully understand the story of the crucifixion it is crucial that we take a step into the story. We should view it as a doorway and it is important that we go through it in our imagination, in order to actually understand what is happening. said that German soldiers took him and a bunch of other people into the woods
Many believed that the story of the crucified Canadian was a statement of actuality creating an impact on Triple Entente motivation during the war. Although the story was made up, this particular propaganda was a perfect weapon of manipulation that used fear and anger for people to materialize revenge for the lost
One of the most difficult task was capturing the town of Ortona. Advancing through the streets was impossible, so Canadians blasted through the interlinked walls of the town’s buildings and engaged in street fighting with the Germans. The Germans withdrew after more than a week, ending the battle. Following this, the Allies advanced north, breaking through many German lines. Rome fell, followed by the Gothic line, before the Germans surrendered in the spring of 1945. Canadians made major contributions to this campaign, fighting through a harsh weather conditions. Many Canadians are buried in the Commonwealth war cemeteries or remembered in the Cassino Memorial. Today, they are honored on Remembrance Day for their
Here is where the events leading up to the case will start to have an effect. After the they found the body, Christian helped the police create a sketch of the man he saw.. While looking at pictures of suspects Christian picked out Bloodsworth as the man who walked away with Hamilton. Christian was also brought to a police lineup where he picked out number six (not Bloodsworth) as the man who left with Hamilton. Christian did not however, tell any of the officers that he recognized the man. Detective Robert Capel later testified that Christian told him, he recognized number six, but did not speak up for fear that the man would recognize his
The song says, “They are nailed to the cross, they are nailed, the cross, oh how much he was willing to bear, with great anguish and loss, Jesus went to the cross and he carried my sins with him there.” You can believe that Jesus died and rose again, you might even believe that he was crucified and that he is coming again for his church, but if you don’t believe that you have to be crucified with him, then you have a serious problem. My brothers and sisters, for a Christian, taking up your cross and following God is not an option, its a requirement. I pray that you find encouragement to continue on your journey in this section.
Christianity believes that the atonement of Jesus needs to be accepted by each individual and that we are the only ones who can accept God's salvation for ourselves. In addition, we need to be "set free" from the binds of original sin by finding truth in Jesus' message (Stevenson., 2018, p. 131). Instead of seeking revenge, we need to sincerely believe that God will someday make everything right and punish every wrongful action. In the ending scene, Glass, rather than killing Fitzgerald himself, pushes him into the river and lets him float downstream where a group of Ree Indians kill him. Although he wanted to exact justice, by his own hand, for the murder of his son, his improbable survival possibly showed him that there exists something more
