What being an American means to me is the opportunities and human rights we are granted the day we are born. What I see as the most important factors of being an American is our privileges, freedoms, and the “American Stereotypes”. In my opinion the American privilege is far more advanced than other nations. For example our country offers public schooling to anyone. According to section 504 in the U.S. Department of Education, public school districts must allow free appropriate public schooling. American privilege in my eyes is also having clean drinking water. Nine out of ten U.S. citizens have access to clean water, while other third world countries such as Africa three out of five people lack clean water. Contributing to the water crisis, 2.4 billion people do not have access to a working toilet. Aw crap that’s a bummer! With privilege follows freedom and our nation's will to be its own democracy. First, we are said to be boastful, and arrogant because we are seen as so privileged that we take everything for granted. I believe this one is somewhat true because we have clean water, free school, and a surplus of food. So much that we don’t think twice of these everyday amenities, that half the world does not have the luxury of. Also we complain about school, but a high percentage of the world is illiterate. Due to the fact that they do not have the opportunity to receive an education. The next stereotype is we are wasteful and disrespectful. I also think this one is true, because I am speaking for myself when I say I don't finish my food or my drinks without thinking twice of those in need. Now for the really fun ones: “We are Drunk gun hogs who do all we can eat buffets and drink a lot of alcohol cause of Freedom in ‘Merica!” So apparently we are just Drunk fat people with diabetes who do not care about anyone else…. Which is not
America has made in the past, to appreciate the freedoms and opportunities that are presented to all Americans, and to celebrate the great country that we live in. Being an American means that people can live anywhere they want, to work in any industry they choose. The Declaration of Independence, Yo soy Joaquin and interviews malcolm x have shown what is means to be an American. In all desire of equality, opportunities and happiness are all true based on to what is means being an American.
What does it mean to be an American? In my eyes to be an American means to have privileges, rights, and freedom. America isn't perfect, but it is one of the only countries that have rights given to people of different diversities and gender. America does not have tremendous poverty. Instead we have choices given to us by the people who fought and died for the American people. Without George Washington and the other patriots who planted the first seed in the ground and help plant the American nation we live in now who knows what America would be like now.
The first thing that comes to mind about being American is to have freedom. Being an American means to have the right to choose what school I want to go to, to travel around the country without any trouble, and be able to achieve my career and educational goals, without any any pressure from the government or military groups. To be American means that you will not be judged by your religion or ethnicity, and if you are, you have the right to defend yourself. It means being especial because you can be from other ethnicity and still be American that’s what it means to be an American.
Since early colonial times, America has had the reputation of a life where dreams come true. People flocked to America for a new chance at life from European countries and many other various locations in the world. America had high standards to live up to, but did they fully live up to these high expectations? This question could be answered on several different viewpoints. The first major viewpoint is the pros of moving to America and the second is the cons of migrate to a better life.
To be an American means to have freedom. The freedom to do anything the American mind wants without being told it is wrong. To be an American means to live in the greatest country on this blue earth. Without a doubt the best.
I believe that being an American means many different things many different people. To me being an American means to have certain freedoms that American citizens have that people around the rest of the world do not have the privilege to do or have. Like every United States citizen has unalienable rights, every single United States citizen is an American, and that the majority of people will have good living conditions.
Being an American means a lot to me because I can do thing that a lot of people might not get to do. I have freedoms that people in other countries don’t have, like being able to wear what I want to without being told no. I believe that being an American means that I can have my own opinion that could possibly change the world one day. Being an American means so much to so many people, not just me which is the best part about being American. I can go anywhere I want to beable learn something new about a different culture because being American means that we are able to celebrate our diversity. There are so many different people that I am able to meet because I live

To be an American can mean a lot of things to others, but one thing everyone has in common on what they think it means is to be free. It means you can vote for who and what you want. It means you can say “The Pledge of Allegiance.” It means you can have a good education and the job you want. It means to be proud in living in the United States of America. What does being an American mean to me? That is a question that many people over their entire lives have at least once thought about. Being an American citizen gives me many rights and liberties, and that makes this country so unique. I have visited other countries on my vacations, and many have relied on people coming from other countries to help make money, mostly from tourism. These countries have been changing their laws and government to make them more free, but visiting those countries as a tourism-which in some countries I have for months at a time-is very different then living there and being a resident.
What Does It Mean To Be An American? So I think that to be an american is that you have the rights to say I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and so on. Also to be an american you can pick the job you really want, what shift to work, and the most important thing of all you can get an education. To be an american there is a lot of duties to do.
What it means to be American? Everybody you ask this question to will have a completely different response. Some responses might have similarities but none will be exactly the same. In the beginning of the year my response was “To be an American means having a rich history, having opportunities to better ourselves, and having freedoms.” Unfortunately not everyone has had the same opportunities or freedoms. Native Americans, who are indigenous, dealt with having their freedoms taken away, less opportunities even though they had rich history in this land before it was taken away from them. Look at what Zitkala-Sa endured. Not only that, but African Americans have fought long and hard for freedom and equality as well. W.E.B. Du Bois stood for
What Being an American Means to Me Being an American is associated with many things but I believe it all falls under freedom, opportunity, and acceptance. When you are an american you automatically you get that freedom every American has. The Bill of rights protects Americans freedom. “ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ;or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press ; or of the people peacefully to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
What does being an American mean to me? Being American to me, means that you have the right to freedom of speech because some brave American soldiers risked or are now still risking their lives, maybe still in the future we will have more people stepping their game up, then they will be one of the brave Soldiers fighting for our country. Being American means to me? Being able to talk about whatever we wanna talk about, knowing that whatever we say, we know that it is a safe place, and that we won’t get shot and prosecuted if reasonable. Being American is probably one of the best things that can happen to you as a person, there are some people out there trying to make this world a living hell for us.
Being an American means to have opportunities that are available to us that others don’t get in other parts of the world. The United States of America is a country that is based on being a free country for citizens to have more freedom than anywhere else. It is one of the only countries that give rights to people of different diversities and genders. To be an American means to have opportunities, rights, and freedom.
