Most of the time, when we listen to a song, we don’t listen to the words, or what message they are trying to give us. Each song out there has a message in the lyrics somewhere. For this assignment, we were to analyze a song and the lyrics and find the thesis of that song. With thesis, I mean what the message within the song is trying to tell us. The song “I hope you dance” by Lee Ann Womack has a good thesis in some ways, but the thesis could also be argumentative also.

The theme love dominates Romeo and Juliet, and the subject commitment underlies this principal theme of love. Shakespeare presents commitment within the love relationship in Romeo and Juliet through out the play. In the Prologue, Shakespeare introduces Romeo and Juliet to us for the first time as the “star-crossed lovers” who “take their life” and immediately we are aware that this is a play about the most powerful kind of love and commitment. Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet, fall in love against the backdrop of their feuding families.

The Theme of Love and hate is very important and prevalent in this play and is one of the most relevant to the development of the story as it encompasses both of the main focuses of the feud and Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. Interpretive Example Four An artist’s craft allows them to express deeply held emotions. Symbolism and metaphors can hide these meanings, but with music the lyrics often express emotions clearly. In the song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, the message in the song is to always be happy, and that the sky is the limit. When I was younger I always had big goals and I still believe it, and I keep reminding myself of the message in the song when I’m upset or angry.
