In fact the Prohibition Act was effective in reducing the amount of alcohol consumed by the public; it, however, trigger an up-roar of organized criminal activity like the Mafia during the Prohibition movement.

It solved men becoming violent to others but also created a way for the mafia to create a profit from the alcohol. Production of any alcoholic beverage was illegal.

So imagine the money that would be saved if marijuana were legalized in the whole country.
