Frack sites can break down and cause a bundle of problems. Communities with fracking have seen decline in property values, increases in crime, and losses in local tourism. When a community loses tourism and gains an increase in crime it may not be an area where a new company would want to settle, worsening the economy. Fracking is said to have caused earthquakes when a pipe ruptures. If a pipe ruptures it damage a fault line pushing one tectonic plate closer toward the earthquake point. If a storage tank for fracking breaks it may leak out into crops and streams and poison our ecosystem. If the fracking fluid does as much as decimates on of the species in the ecosystem, then it will put the whole ecosystem out of whack causing numerous problems.
“I´m very proud that the state of Vermont banned fracking. I hope communities all over California, and all over America do the same.”- Sen. Bernie Sanders. Although, fracking may seem safe, it really isn't. In fact, many have reported contaminated sources near fracking areas. However, living near a fracking well can cause a hard life in the household, that is near a site. Once again, problems arise as fracking becomes a common practice. Even though, there are advantages they are not reasonable. All in all, there are multiple reasons why fracking is not safe.
Fracking Kills the World Around Us Abbey Burns Missouri State University General Purpose: To persuade Specific Purpose: By the end of the speech the audience will know the negative effects fracking has on the environment. Thesis Statement: Fracking causes detrimental effects to the environment including the pollution in our atmosphere, contamination of water, and an increase in earthquakes. Introduction: “Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented – Barry Commoner.”
What is fracking? Fracking, according to Webster’s Dictionary, is to force water, sand, and chemical fluids into a crack or seam in a subterranean level of rock so that natural gas or oil may be harvested as it escapes through the crack. Fracking causes many harmful effects to the environment, but it does help the economy in a tremendous way. Fracking can cause loads of chemicals out into the air and into the water supply and it can also cause small earthquakes and tremors. It is useful for the economy because there is a lot of money to be made in this new industry and it provides an extreme amount of jobs and opportunity for the public. Although it is very helpful, fracking is more wrong because the damage done to our planet is much more important and concerning compared to the notion of quick cash.
Fracking is a very debated topic around the world, whether we should continue fracking for the oil and gas it produces, or if the pollution caused by fracking is too much of problem. On the negative side of fracking, the effects from include: worsened asthma, stress, heavy pollution around the oil and gas sites, etc. If you look on the positive side of fracking you’ll find it is a way of producing oil and gas that could take America to the top in terms of energy export around the world, and it creates numerous jobs, which surely helps out the American economy.
While this process is happening the chemicals and toxins tend to reach out towards the nearby groundwater and eventually contaminate oceans and drinking water wells. By this time both animals and humans are being affected. It can get into our systems and make us sick. These toxins reach out to both land animals and sea animals. If these animals get enough toxins in their systems, they will eventually get sick and die off. Fracking affects both the land around, humans, animals and plants. While on the subject of potentially hurting human life, there have been known videos of people holding a lighter next to their tap water and it setting on fire due to the methane gas
Energy has always been the driving force that help mankind developed. From the First Industrial Revolution, steam engine powered by coal was developed. Then the Second Industrial Revolution come with the development of combustor engine and petroleum. Today, oil has become an essential source of energy for production and our everyday life. The demand keep on increasing which lead to the growth in scale and quantity of oil production all over the world. It has led many companies to overlook the benefit of other stakeholder beside their traditional shareholder. And the result as many accident relate to companies cut corner to pursuit profit. Although, we have long realize the negative impact of oil and oil industry. But it is impossible to replace them with some other alternative in a short period. With that being said Fracking has appear to be a shiny star and reasonable solution for U.S in this near future. We will discuss fracking current state and future also as the potential ethic issue tag along with it.
Fracking effects the environment and people the toxic substances in fracking fluid and waste water and as well as air pollution from trucks, the wells themselves have been connected to health problems. Fracking requires large amounts of water that may affect the availability of water for other uses, and it can affect animals that live under water. Fracking tacks natural areas, forest, and farmland and replace them with industrial zones, well pads, roads, pipelines and other infrastructure. That is why fracking is bad for the
Another reason I think fracking is a bad thing is because fracking can harm the environment. Fracking can do many different things to the environment the main thing it does to the environment is it cracks the ground, which can cause a major catastrophe on a major scale, like earthquakes. You do not want an earthquake to happen do you?
The mismanagement of the practice has the potential to create environmental damage such as water contamination, radioactive spills, and increased seismic activity that could cost thousands in dollars in damage. Furthermore, the unintended consequences of fracking can have detrimental effects on the environmental. The potential for water contamination can pose both an immediate and long term risk to environmental stability, including landscape distortion, inhabitability and ecological displacement. This contamination of drinking water can also be detrimental to the human environment, limiting the amount of safe water available for both the residential and commercial human environment. With the increase of fracking, the level of disapproval for the practice has only mounted. Concerns including overconsumption of
A relatively new process for extracting desired shale oil from the bowels of the earth seems to be shaking things up around operation sites. Environmentalists and oil tycoons have been debating for years over the safety of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, since areas with a high concentration of fracking operations have been affected by several environmental problems. Though many scientists argue that correlation does not necessarily mean causation, the media and many environmentalists use these environmental problems around fracking sites as proof of the long term damage fracking causes. Although it has domesticated the oil industry and reduced usage of coal as a fuel source, fracking is undoubtedly related to many detrimental environmental impacts, such as water table pollution and increased seismic activity.
While fracking has provided a cleaner fuel, there are many negative effects to the environment, the beef industry, human health and little positive effects. Some of these effects include; ground water being polluted with harmful chemicals, this polluted water can cause extreme sickness in humans. Fracking disrupts the habitats of animals and they have to leave the area to find clean water and a better food supply. Also it has been taking an effect on the beef industry in how farmers raise and sell their cattle. Fracking can have negative long term effects on the people living in the local area and make that area inhabitable.
In America poverty is a problem; fracking helped with this problem because it crated job opportunities. Although people in America have had a hard time finding good paying jobs, fracking has helped solve this problem. Ed Rendell confirms that “natural gas restores jobs for hardworking Americans”, and it created “thousands of solid jobs with good salaries”. While fracking helped people who are having troubles finding jobs, but it also creates new opportunities for other things like businesses. Ed Rendell points out that “It’s already creating new opportunities consumers and businesses and promoting economic growth”. Another thing that has benefitted from fracking is construction industries. Ed Rendell states that “steel, lumber, and construction
This debate covered the controversial issue of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The two sides that can be taken within this debate are, Bruce McKenzie Everett’s side or John Rumpler’s side. Everett believes that hydraulic fracturing is completely worth it, due to the fact that the economic benefits outweigh the negative impacts on our environment. While Rumpler argues that there are very crucial tolls fracking is taking on our environment, and also our health. Throughout the article there are 6 question proposed to each person. The first, and maybe most important, question asked is ‘is fracking safe?’ Everett responds first by saying that nothing in the world is entirely safe, and then continues to nullify the multitude of threats fracking
Fracking has always been a problem, but seems to become more of a problem as time goes on. Although gas, oil, and coal are necessities for living, there is a better way to obtain these substances instead of fracking.
Is there anything better that a cool glass of water on a hot day or a swim in a clear blue lake? We need water for drinking, and we need it for recreation. We use it in a thousand ways. Without it, we could not survive. Yet with more and more people on our planet, we are using a lot and also using it carelessly and that is effecting our everyday living.
