Topic: illegal immigration

General Purpose: to persuade

Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to be pro illegal immigration.

Central Idea: I will persuade you that illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the

U.S. by sharing with you some information on the subject, arguments on the subject, and

also some solutions to the problem.

Introduction:

Imagine a teenage girl, only seventeen years old having to go three states away to

visit her father. To see him she must enter a building and before she can get to the main

door she has to go through the first fence door, and wait for it to close before the second

3. America was built by immigrants. C. Many immigrants who cannot gain citizenship, who are denied access into our

country, come here illegally. 1. As I stated earlier, immigrants come here looking for work and/or education. 2. Many illegal immigrants who are in the U.S. have families they support

back in their home countries. 3. Their home countries are sometimes dangerous, and America offers a

better life. 4. America has some of the best educational opportunities in the world. a. Illegal immigrants want a chance to better themselves, and have

a good education, to support them selves, and often times most of

their family.

D. One side looks at crime. Failing schools and soaring welfare spending and sees

too many immigrants. The other side, the side I am on, sees America, the greatest

nation on earth, built on the backs of immigrants and still benefiting enormously

from the brains, energy and determination of the nest generation of newcomers.

III. Lastly, I will give you solutions to what people call “the problem”. A. There are many solutions to illegal immigration. 1. People against illegal immigration will tell you the solution to the

problem is more border control and stricter laws. 2. However, just like when you tell a child they can’t do something, it
