The personal prism gives the people of the present an insight into, as stated by Edward Rothstein, “the deeply personal experience of the war” of those who were in the war or impacted by the war regardless of whether the effect was direct or indirect. The “Visceral Reality” is great for allowing people a look at how different people were personally affected in a given time. As there were a lot of participants of many different occupations, there exists many pieces of literature , memoirs, art, and pictures that depict the personal experience of the war and, as Rothstein states, much of the knowledge and perspectives we have of the war front and the experience of being in the trenches comes from the individuals that participated in the war. A pitfall that lies within the personal prism perspective is that more often than not, the narrow scope of view that the prism offers is such that doesn’t fully contribute to the the interpretations of an event's …show more content…

HBTLF’s personal prism content includes articles such as “Prisoners Make Good at the Front” by Annie Anderson and Erica Harman which talks about how prisoners from the Eastern State Penitentiary contributed to the war by first producing items needed by soldiers and eventually some of those prisoners were able to serve as soldiers in the war.
