Princess Juliet
The brick road was dusty, The sky was clear, no clouds in sight, and the air felt so good. This was princess Juliet’s first time out of the castle walls. She hated the feeling of being contained and trapped. The castle was tall, luxurious, and was so big it felt like water, it never ends, but it was lonely. Juliet’s parents had been fighting a lot and Juliet had no one to share her feelings with about the matter, so she decided she wanted to do something exciting to get her feelings up. She decided to go out in the town. Juliet had just met a young man named, Jake. He was tall, had long brown hair, and had eyes as blue as the ocean. He had agreed to show her around the village. That day princess Juliet, dressed in plain clothes that she had hidden since her mom left them for her when she passed away. She had only been outside for a matter of minutes when she decided she wanted to come back again. Her and Jake had a great time and had made many good memories together. After Jake showed her around the town and she got to experience the many new things she had not and probably never would have if she had stayed in the castle, she went back home.
After she snuck into her tower she got changed back into a dress and was putting the clothes back into the place where she normally hides them when a note dropped out of one of the pockets. On the top of the note it said “To Juliet”. She opened the note and was shocked at what she saw. It said, “I have been watching
My Juliet was born on the 31st of July, here in Verona, 14 years ago. She was well known here as her warm heart and generous spirit lead her to be kind and gentle to everyone. I remember walking with her through the town square one morning where we came across a small boy sitting next to the pathway. He was thin, dirty and appeared to have no home. When I could have quite easily just walked past him, my Juliet could not. She walked right up to him and took his hand, asking him what his name was and if he had a family and as much as I tried to hurry her along, she refused to move. By then people were beginning to stare and at the time I was convinced they were judging Juliet and I for even noticing the boy. I now realise I was wrong. They were not staring or judging, they were struck with admiration. They were admiring the young girl who was taking time out of her day to befriend someone
In Juliet’s most vulnerable moment as a woman in distress she breathlessly utters words which foreshadow the plays grievous ending. Juliet’s message contains a subtle warning which indicates the outcome of her parents licentious and ignorance towards the unwanted and forced marriage will be the fatal consequence of death. This moment is crucial as the audience understands the arousing of this issue and the reason to which Juliet chose this precarious path.
Juliet then awakes to her dead lover and is very distraught, but Friar Lawrence is there to calm her. But then he goes to leave her because of a noise outside, scaring him. He tries to get her to come with him, but she doesn’t. He then leaves without her. Friar Lawrence says, “Come, go, good Juliet.
Several points are made throughout the novel, proving that the town was very poor. The author states, “There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with, nothing to see outside the boundaries of Maycomb County.” (Lee 5). What the author means by this is that the town was so distraught by the depression that there was absolutely nothing to do because no one had money. The author also states, “Are we poor, Atticus?”
The main character of the novel, Juliet Ashton is a courageous woman. In a male dominated world, Ashton respects and stands up for herself: “Eventually, I said something to the effect that I could never marry a man whose idea of bliss was to strike out at little balls and little birds” (25). Juliet is both sarcastic and realistic, but she knows herself and what she deserves. Mark Reynolds, her suitor, pushes her into being braver than she already is. Juliet stands up against Mark's persuasion and stubborn attitude: “I've known you two months. It's not long enough for me to be certain that we should spend the rest of our lives together, even if you are” (131). Even if no one else does, Juliet values her own opinions and makes her own choices. Juliet's decision to ignore Mark and travel to Guernsey
Juliet is not unlike the typical young women constantly struggling to find happiness and acceptance from those who are closest to her. Young Juliet must confront the harsh reality that exists between her and those who profess to be her friends and family, which is they failed to support her, love her, and lift her up with she needed it most. In the timeless book, “Romeo & Juliet” William Shakespeare writes a moving story about the betrayal, disappointment, love, and eventual death of Romeo and Juliet. No reader can truly appreciate and understand the level of Juliet’s struggles without first understanding the roles the Lord Capulet, Friar Lawrence and Romeo, their betrayal and their role in her faithful decision.
Throughout the play Romeo and Juliet, one of the main protagonists, Juliet, is forced to deal with a great amount of conflict, whether it is external conflict or internal. Juliet has conflict with many people excluding herself, such as with her father and mother, with the Nurse… Equally, she is conflicted on the inside on many occasions.
Juliet changes a vast amount during the play. In this essay I am going to explore the following points:
Juliet was found with a dagger to her stomach. The two had taken the lives of one another.
Juliet’s love and loyalty towards Romeo, and her developing character do not only play an important role in motivating her in speaking the lines that she does, but also in motivating her actions. Despite all the current events that have occurred; events that have affected her state of mind, Juliet decides to remain true and faithful to Romeo.
Or raped.” Heart racing I jog to catch up, grab hold of Juliet’s shoulders and force her to face me. She is breathtaking standing underneath the street lights. Wild. Angry. Untamed. Vulnerable. It’s heartbreaking. Ok, so I screwed up. “I’m sorry,” I whisper in my ear. I’ll never be able to say it enough. I pull back, battling to not kiss her parted lips. Instead, I shove my hands in my pockets and exhale the night air. “All I know about us, all I can say for sure… is that beautiful things never last, Juliet. I’m frightened.”
As she was a mother-figure and confidante to Juliet, immense trust and guidance was expected of her. She however, destroyed this bond by referring to Juliet?s only love as a ?dishclout? and advising her that she ?thinks it best you married the county?, for he ?excels your first?. This then, results in Juliet alienating herself from her adviser-?thou and my bosom henceforth shall be twain?- and in due course killing herself.
Romeo, a young man from the Montague family, is in love with a woman named Rosaline but she has sworn to be a nun for the rest of her life. Romeo and his friend Benvolio happen to stumble across a Capulet worker named Peter, who is trying to read a list of invitations to a masked party at the Capulet house. Romeo helped Peter read the list and decides to attend the party because Rosaline will be there. He plans to wear a mask so that he will nobody will recognize him as a Montague. When Romeo arrived at the Capulet’s party in his costume he sees Juliet. It was love at first sight. However, Juliet's cousin Tybalt recognizes Romeo and wants to kill him on the spot. Lord Capulet gets involved, insisting that Tybalt does not disturb the party because it will anger the Prince. Romeo quietly approaches Juliet, talks to her and then they kissed. After the party, Juliet told her Nurse about Romeo and Juliet asked her Nurse to go find Romeo. When Juliet's’ Nurse tells Romeo that Juliet is a Capulet, he gets upset. Meanwhile, Juliet is similarly upset when she finds out that Romeo is a Montague. Later that night, Romeo climbs the wall into Juliet's garden. Juliet is standing on her balcony and speaks her thoughts out loud not knowing that Romeo is there. She wishes Romeo could marry her. Romeo hears her and
The nurse has a love for Juliet as if she was her own and you can tell this by the way she knows things her mother does not. For example her age.
In the novel I am Juliet, the author Jackie French made use of the four main characteristics of a historical narrative, but added some exceptions to keep the reader engaged and to set this historical narrative apart from the others. Jackie French uses her research into both Elizabethan England and Renaissance Italy to create historically accurate settings, events and perspectives. She also utilises an extra perspective at the beginning and end of the novel to ‘frame’ the main part of the text. Some characters and events were created by the author to assist in the development of the plot and further engage the reader. The main storyline in the novel, Juliet’s storyline is written in chronological order but the beginning and end with the Elizabethan actor, Rob Goughe is set in a completely different time. Jackie French uses exceptions to the conventions of its genre to make a more developed and engaging novel.
