Prevent Alzheimer’s
Of particular interest to seniors, is how they can prevent neurological disorders, like dementia and Alzheimer’s, and possibly reverse the damage. Alzheimer’s develops when a type of plaque forms in the brain, which will eventually lead to damage of the neurons in the brain.
Tea can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s by preventing the formation of these plaques and breaking down existing plaque formation. Tea can repair the damage by creating new neurons in the area of the brain that is responsible for memory.

Tea gets its health benefits from the potent antioxidants that tea contains. These antioxidants have anti-inflammatory properties that can prevent or reduce the risk of many types of health issues.
Tea, known to Asia as a luxury used for medicinal purposes, became a way of life for Europeans. It served as a huge asset towards the growth of Europe and Britain’s status as a world power.
Drink tea and experience the relaxing effects of this flavonoid on the central nervous system, and lower your blood pressure at the same time.
My basic knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia comes from my work experience and from my classes. I’ve also attended many educational Alzheimer’s seminars, and I know that maintaining a healthy diet, exercising, avoiding mind-alternating drugs, and sleeping more all help in preventing or delaying Alzheimer’s.
What is Alzheimer’s? It is characterized by plaques and tangles in the brain. According to Alzheimer's association Plaques are “microscopic clumps of a protein fragment called beta-amyloid” (Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia.) The tangles are another protein called tau that is twisted. When the proteins are twisted they are not able to receive proper nutrients. The cells start to decline and not work as well, and they eventually die. The tissue that the cells make up deteriorate and the person begins to lose memory and some brain activity. This is a fatal disease and no cure has been found yet.
Alzheimer’s disease effects hundreds of thousands of older adults. Research has been done and a cure is being searched for, but so far there is no way to cure it. There are treatments for Alzheimer’s that may help, but the cure is slow coming and few things have been learned about it. Older persons who experience the disease can experience a wide array of effects such as confusion, depression, violent tendencies, and many other things of that nature. There are different stages of the mental sickness, from minor, to severe. Different research states that the more schooling you have the, the less likely you are to develop Alzheimer’s, it may also be genetic and passed down through generations.
Brain health is included and it is not uncommon for people to overlook the importance of feeding and exercising the brain properly, just as every other part of the body. There has been a sufficient amount of data to support techniques that will help in reducing the risk of dementia, Alzheimer’s in particular. Among these are increasing physical activity, receiving treatment for depression, quit smoking, control type two diabetes, have a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, fostering social engagement, control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and participate in intellectually stimulating activities. The research currently documented does not necessarily state that these measures prevent Alzheimer’s directly, but rather enhance the overall health of people, which in return aids in preserving brain health as well. Research is continuously being conducted on Alzheimer’s and other related disorders of dementia, but for now the most widely accepted methods of prevention are becoming and staying healthy. Proper nutrition begins at an early age. It is easy for people to disregard the importance of their health when they are young since their choices are not typically directly affecting them. This is what needs to change. People need to be properly educated on the effects that their current life choices have on them in the future. In conclusion, there are many ways that have been proved scientifically on how exercising regularly, having a quality sleep and practicing Mediterranean diet on daily basis can help us to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. With the growing number of people becoming diagnosed, and experiencing symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, we must begin to take precautions and somehow attempt to gain knowledge of how the disease can be better treated, and ultimately prevented.
Central Idea: To be as healthy as we can be, we need to be informed about what certain things, specifically tea, can do to help improve our bodies overall health.

Although, there are currently no known cure for Alzheimer’s, researches about Alzheimer’s has helped health care providers provide the best care and understanding of the disease to improve people living with Alzheimer’s today. This herb has been used throughout time to treat a variety of illnesses. According to multiple sources there are a variety of health benefits that green tea has on the body. From burning fat to curing cancers, green tea is hailed by many to have a positive impact on anyone who uses it. When looking in any magazine or TV show there is typically someone saying the health benefits of green tea. Everyone is on the green tea bandwagon, from Starbucks to Snapple with products that claim that by consuming or using the products customers will be health benefit of green tea.
On average 158 million Americans drink tea a day. Within that population 85 percent drink black tea, 14 percent drink green tea, and the remaining amount drink oolong tea. Tea is derived from an evergreen shrub called Camellia sinensis native to Asia. At its origin, tea was used medicinally in empires such as the Shang dynasty in the 16th century. Furthermore, tea is linked to many health benefits such as weight loss, immunity support, bone strength, lowers blood pressure, and reduces risk of both heart disease and cancer. Although tea is associated with these, and many more health benefits, it is difficult to scientifically justify a positive relationship between drinking tea and reducing the risk of heart disease. It has been found that drinking tea can reduce the risks involved with heart disease in experiments done in vitro. No further research explores the effects of tea in vivo. It has not been entirely proven that drinking tea can eliminate the risks of developing heart disease, but there is evidence for reducing the risks of developing heart disease. The benefits of tea are maximized when it is drunk daily, in large quantities, and in high concentrations.
