When thinking of Asheville, North Carolina the first thing that comes to anyone’s mind is the Biltmore Estate and the rolling mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Biltmore is the largest residential home in America and was constructed in the early 1900s when Asheville was a town unknown to the popular eye. At the time, Asheville was a small town with a population of only 2,000 residents. Nevertheless, Asheville was on its way to becoming a luxurious resort town. Many people were drawn to Asheville for its nature beauty, clear air, and reviving hot springs. These geographic characteristics caught the eyes of wealthy families looking for relaxation away from city life; and the Vanderbilt family was among one of these families.

Trask is able to use logos to prove how tourism has affected the Hawaiian culture. Trask refers to Hawaii as a “She” who “Rubs off” on the visitor with her magical presence. The beauty of Hawaii is used as an escape from “Rawness and violence” for most Americans though, Trask mentions that the land has a “Western sexual sickness” (Trask 1993). “Of course, all this hype is necessary to hide the truth about tourism, the awful exploitative truth that the industry is the major cause of environmental degradation, low wages, land dispossession, and the highest cost of living in the United States” (Trask 1993). Trask says that the areas of Hawaii which were “sacred” to the Hawaiian’s have now been turned into top of the line hotels. The beaches that were once full of fishermen and their nets are used for recreational activities like surfing getting a tan and jet skiing. On most of the beaches owned by resorts, the beaches are reserved for hotel residences only. In the essay, Trask gives the readers logos as to how tourism is changing the land. For example, thirty years ago the ratio of Hawaiians outnumbered the tourist 2:1. Today,

The building, with its desolation, inhabits space in downtown New Port Richey as vandalism take their toll, threatening the vitality of the building’s future. Fortunately, the building will no longer bear witness to silence as it initiates the process of redevelopment. As of 2013, the building has gone through several rejuvenations such as through its recently painted walls and anterior gates, restored windows, and the repairs completed on the fountain. The main motive behind the redevelopment of the Hacienda was the community’s apprehension of the historical and environmental issues concerned with the building. City council members through their several meetings, indisputably decided to bring the community together in order to aid in this significant project. This will not only benefit the public, but it will also help those who desire to experience the era of the 1920s. Lezzoni tells the Suncoast news (2014), “It's a great piece of property, which has tremendous potential.” The community respects the history behind this hotel and wants to support the process of innovating the past, but society must remember, changing an ancient landmark may also modify the history behind

Upon Tracey Minkin journey to find a suitable beach getaway, she discovered the meaning behind the most tranquil places. The simplest things are often the most sophisticated. When searching for a coastal retreat, we are instantly reminded of the so called mecca of ocean fronts like Miami, California, and so on. Minkin highlights that a tightly knitted community often has benefits that can’t be experienced at the large cities. One advantage reminds the traveler that not all ocean shores have to be populated by a multitude of businesses. Ocean Springs is able to represent the pinnacle of simple relaxation and peaceful serenity with the absence of “commercial development [along] the shoreline”. This location communicates with
