After having a very successful performance and getting second place on the first Littlefield simulation game we knew what we needed to do to win the second simulation game. We were very eager to outperform our competition and we almost did so, but ended up in second place again with a cash balance of $2,660,393.

A Federal Judge temporarily barred Trump’s Executive Order concerning the travel ban. This has caused extreme controversy among American’s as topics such as immigration, refugees, vetting, and religion all take tolls on the perspectives of the media as well as the average American. Nevertheless, the travel ban has been critiqued as well as praised by different groups and the Federal’s Judge’s emergency order has sparked debate on the constitutionality of the order.

In attempts to protect the United States from foreign terrorists, President Trump has banned seven different countries from any access into the country for ninety days. The seven countries included in the Travel Ban are Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen (Jackson). As for Syria, Trump has placed a ban that has an undetermined length of time. Another aspect of the ban is, “The order also introduces a cap of 50,000 refugees to be accepted in 2017, against a limit of 110,000 set by former President Barack Obama” (BBC). This order not only drastically affects the amount of immigrants entering the country, but also the number of refugees.

Much like many white people in the South believed black protestors had no right to infiltrate their cities in the 1960s, a large number of Americans are against the idea of letting refugees or anyone that follows a strongly stereotyped religion into their country. However, like King says, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” (78). Over the course of history, the United States have established themselves as a major power with the intentions of helping others. Whether the tactics for this have actually been successful in the past is a different discussion, but if the motives are pure, then this country has a moral and ethical obligation to help those in need. In this case, that would mean allowing these refugees into the country and not continuing to stigmatize an entire group of people any further. This country turned away refugees during World War II, and a portion of them were killed in the Holocaust. The exact same thing could potentially happen if these refugees and muslims are banned from traveling into the United States.

These people cannot go back home because they fear something bad is going to happen again, their only choice is to flee to another country and start a new life, but not many countries let most refugees in due to their religion or race, and the United States is one of them. For example, in the many articles that I have read in my English Humanity class, there's an article from Donald Trump, where he says: “We cannot let them into this country, period. Our country has tremendous problems. We can’t have another problem.” And this is one of our candidates running for president talking about the refugees in this type of way, saying that they will cause more problems, due to the fact that they are dangerous. But not every refugee is dangerous, especially the ones that come from Syria at this time due to the Syrian war. As many people know since Trump claimed the president's seat in 2016 there has been a multitude of problems with his presidency. One problem that has arose is that he is taking benefits from foreign countries without the consent of congress. In Article I of the Constitution there is clause about Foreign Emoluments (Emoluments Clause) where it says that “ No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States; And no person holding an office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.” The constitutional problem that has arose is that there has been three different occasions where President Trump has been known to break the rules of this clause. He has taken 40 trademarks for his company from China, housed foreign diplomats in his hotels, and foreign officials have rented out his property.

Over 300,000 refugees are waiting at the borders of our country waiting to be accepted into our country. My question is why. Why would our great country want to weaken ourselves by letting illnesses and terrorism into our country, especially when they did not help us in the past? The United States should not accept refugees because of many reasons including terrorism, stealing jobs from U.S citizens and bringing sickness and unknown illnesses into our country. Hundreds and hundreds of terrorist attacks have occurred in our country the only blameable menace are us letting in refugees in. Thousands of refugees are working immediately, and illnesses are spreading to Americans in our country as soon as these refugees enter our country. Knowing all of these issues is it really worth letting them in?
