1. Question 1: The classification of this executive order, whether it is a refugee ban, Muslim ban, or immigrant ban, why is it important for our political principles? Which groups of people cannot be banned from any kind of government services or benefits?
Everyone has something to fear. In this case President Trump fears that refugees are attempting to gain entry to the United States for the sole purpose of attacking. Some of these refugees have been in the process of obtaining their visa’s for as long as ten years. They’re being denied entry at the gates and being sent back. There has always been constant dispute over the boundaries that the federal government and state government hold. Considering that some states do indeed house more refugees than others, I must say I believe states should have some input into such a policy. Those states will end up suffering an offset with the economy on top of the already existent economic difference. Consumerism may go down and that in turn affects supply and demand. In other terms, I would have to answer the same thing again. It’s important we have a balance of power to keep both the federal government and state government in check. Each has the right to sue one another if it is believed that they are exceeding their power, but it also can’t be one sided. Federal government will always for the most part overrule state and that needs to be more balanced. Though it does help to have the judiciary branch as a mediator of the sorts, states need more say and more rights. Sometimes there will be a state law that is contradicted by the federal government and vice versa, but which one is right to follow and abide by? Why are state laws allowed despite potentially being culpable with the federal government? This is where it seems a bit one sided to me and it pushes me towards supporting more power to the
