POTENTIAL COLLABORATORS
Potential collaborators in our campaign include on-campus health clinics, El Paso public health clinics, the Texas DSHS, hospitals and medical treatment facilities, and school and local government policy makers. The various health clinic and medical personnel will be a vital part of this campaign as they will be the professionals responsible for the administration, testing, reporting and counseling services necessary to accomplish our mission. Education and local government policy-makers will also be necessary components to ensuring full execution and funding of our campaign.
El Paso Community College (EPCC) has the largest student body of all the higher education institutes in El Paso with almost 30k students enrolled annually. EPCC has its own health clinic, Rio Grande Border Health Clinic, which offers HIV testing upon request. To accommodate a significant increase in HIV testing during “peak times”, intricate planning with clinic staff such as human resources, laboratory staff, nursing and medical staff, as well as purchasing, finance and reimbursement directors, would be essential. All of these personnel would be highly involved with the successful implementation of universal HIV testing upon enrollment. Collaboration on staffing with this institution would be crucial to ensuring temporary provisions are put in place during “peak times” of testing such as enrollment and registration periods.

Arizona General Hospital is examining ways to deliver and expand quality healthcare to as many of our clientele as possible in the rural community. I would like to propose an organized community health fair that will offer various practical benefits for the public as well as our facility. We can utilize our highly trained and motivated professional team along with community collaboration to resourcefully contribute to the needs of the community. A health fair will enable Arizona General Hospital to extend our services through health education, disease prevention, and diagnostic screening, which in the long run is a cost effective intervention. An attractively planned community event will create a purpose for the scattered community to unite and be well-informed. Examination of barriers to healthcare can be addressed and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) benefits can be reviewed to encourage full use of the indemnity. The health fair will target children and adults to accommodate the entire community. Giveaways, incentives, and items with our advertisement and contact information could be handed out so that everyone walks away with something special and useful for future reference. A prosperous health fair requires the essential components of planning, health education and screening objectives, and executing an evaluation. I will review each element with supported research on the benefits of creating a community health fair to enhance optimal

The education programs will initially occur by targeting urban housing areas with a high census of Hispanic population and then identify what venues such as recreation and resource centers are appropriate for various campaign efforts. During the outreach events, resources such as Spanish literature and interpreters are available that promote prevention health services and state and federal resources to enroll in healthcare
This program will help to bring healthcare education services closer to the people in my community. Personally, I encountered many challenges in my childhood due to poor health care services in the community. The idea of having access to a good healthcare provider was unheard of in the Latino circle because they were unreachable and expensive. Secondly, affordability of the healthcare due to high costs of having health insurance was also popular among the Latino community. For those who could access medical facilities, the challenge was related to the health insurances did not cover all their needs. These challenges were too pronounced.
