“Failure” or bad things really does help shape you into a better person and you learn from mistakes. For example in a relationship when people break up there's usually a good reason for it. So learn from your mistakes. If those people were to get back together remember what tore you apart and fix those mistakes. A lot of times after people break up they do regret it, just like Gatsby. “Angry, and half in love with her, and tremendously sorry, I turned away.” That’s how it can be good. It can show you what not to do this time. “People disappeared, reappeared, made plans to go somewhere, and then lost each other, searched for each other, found each other a few feet away.” This has happened to me before. I have had a breakup before and gotten back together with that person. It really made the relationship stronger. You will always be able to cherish the good memorie in that relationship. “Then he kissed her. At his lips’ touch she blossomed for him like a flower and the incarnation that was

You can’t change the past the outcome will be different each time. There’s no guarantee that the outcome is going to be what you want or like, because each time the circumstance have changed. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, tells of a man name Gatsby who came from a poor upbringing believed he was destined for greatness, and set out to obtain the American dream, and wanted to be acceptance by the rich society. While in the military he met Daisy Buchanan, who ended up symbolizing everything he wanted wealth, class, and being part of a high society. She was like gold to him, and the idea of her inspired him to pursue his dreams of having it all. I disagree with Gatsby who believed he could change the past, it’s okay to remember the past, but when it consumes the future then he is stuck hoping for something that has long passed him by, or no matter how hard he tries he cannot duplicate it.

The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald and Passing by Nella Larsen are two significant historical novels that highlight the problems of the nineteen-twenties. These two stories, written within a decade, contrast each other deeply as The Great Gatsby investigates the deep socio-economic tensions of the early twentieth century whereas Passing investigates the deep racial tensions throughout the beginning of the twentieth century. Why is affluence so significant? It was not always this way. For hunter-gatherer and agricultural societies, personal properties were insignificant or even disadvantageous unless it was food. For the sake of development and standards of life, this had to change. As wealth gained in value, people also lived better, longer lives, but at a certain point, it began to manipulate the society around it. Some may argue that this occurred around the 1920’s in America. The changes of this time were monumental. People were moving to cities in large numbers, the party lifestyle was adopted by men and women alike due to dramatic social change, and the economy was booming, they were not called “the roaring 20’s” for nothing. The large economy enabled people to gain more wealth than ever. A multitude of people, primarily in older generations, did not encourage this lifestyle, finding it fake, licentious, flashy, and unchristian. This disapproval of change is apparent in The Great Gatsby due to Nick’s distaste for the frivolous and gaudy lifestyles of the East and West Eggers and Gatsby in particular. This distaste, also conveyed heavily by the author, is most significantly formed around the iniquitous value of money and adultery. Ergo, In the novel The Great Gatsby, F.
