Ivy returns to Gotham enraged and resolves that she can not leave Gotham until the world is safe for plants. She is known to have a man-eating plant named "Harvest" in which she feeds random people to. Their death is slow and painful, Ivy calls these murders "guilty pleasures". Poison Ivy is more plant than human. She breathes CO2 and requires sunlight to live. She can also manipulate the growth of all plants and even communicate with them. She can also control minds, paralyze, and has hyper-immunity. However due to the fact that she has such
The death of the mysterious Ivy was no accident, for it was murder. He was stabbed to death by Joe Lacks, Henrietta’s youngest child. This caused the family to panic, because one of their own was going to jail for murder. Joe made everyone’s lives difficult, because he decided to commit the worst crime that a human could do. The entire family wanted to help him, and Sonny and Lawrence wanted him to go to Clover. Deborah was the only one who thought that he should not do such thing as she said, “‘He’s got to turn himself in,’ she told them. ‘The police got a warrant out saying he wanted dead or alive’” (Skloot 147). Thankfully, this was exactly what Joe did. He did a horrible thing, but at least his family knew, that he would not do anything like that ever
In chapter 1 titled “Chloroform (CHCI3 )” of The Poisoner’s Handbook by Deborah Blum, the most interesting story developed within the chapter was the unsolved mystery of eight deaths in a refuge called Odd Fellows Home. Frederic Mors, who claimed to be responsible for all these eight murders, confessed his own guilt in front of the district attorneys. As it was said, “To prove that these elderly residents had been poisoned, they needed solid evidence. [Rumors, suspicions, and anecdotes, a confession by a suspect who might just be crazy, weren’t enough to charge a man with murder.]” (Blum 13).

Family is the most important thing in life. Ivy sacrificed herself for Tess. Tess was taken and might have been killed; her captor wanted Ivy to get his son a pardon, she wasn't powerful enough and couldn't get one for him. So Ivy gave up herself for Tess. Ivy thought that Tess’s life was more important than her own. She had put her own life in danger instead of living with the guilt if Tess was killed.
Anacostia is a residential neighborhood in Southeast, Washington, DC, with a rich history. The neighborhood is named after the Anacostan or Necostan American Indians that called the riverbanks and the surrounding area their home. Anacostia was was founded in 1854 and has grown a whole lot since. At first, non-irish white people were allowed to live there. As the neighborhood grew and more rights were granted to African-Americans, the demographics of the area had a huge change and now, the neighborhood is over 90% black. Demographics weren’t the only change the neighborhood saw. The area also became a place of activism and Anacostia has come together on several occasions throughout history in order to achieve social change. These include the
When Garnie leaves his family to join Sam Russell’s travelling revival and returns to Sugar Fork, he is a completely different character. He starts spewing words of hatred and condemnation. Ivy’s child Lulda dies as an infant, and Garnie tells Ivy that it was her fault and calls her a whore. Garnie gives a speech about Lulda at her funeral until he is interrupted when Oakley returns. He then condemns his sister, Oakley, to Hell for having an affair with Honey Breedwell. This demonstrates that Garnie is a dynamic character because he has changed from the sweet little boy he was when he and Ivy were children and is now a hellfire and brimstone preacher. He calls both of his sisters whores because Ivy had a child as an unwed mother and Oakley for having an affair. Any connection Ivy had with him beforehand is now meaningless because he now despises her. Ivy detests religion because of how people use religion to justify condemning people and making people feel guilty about themselves. However, on her death bed, Ivy begins to read the Bible and finds comfort in certain verses that introduce her to a religion that allows people to enjoy their lives the way they see fit and does not serve the purposes of the people who preach the religion. Through Garnie’s usage of religion to shame his sisters and threatening them with damnation, she recognizes religion as a sincere confession of the flaws of man. However, this is a tragic revelation as she has this epiphany at the end of her life and learned this from her brother, who she had cherished beforehand, telling her that she is damned to Hell for
Can you imagine seeing the glow of a blazing fire killing thousands of your people trying to set you free? Or having to crawl through a small hole to get food for you starving family. Or having to see the man that made you see and do all thoughts things. This and more happens to a little boy during his survival in the Warsaw ghetto. Rose simply isn’t the same anymore, she is quiet, depressed, and angry. She is finally forced by her mother to go back to school for Rose only wanted to sit by Ivy’s hospital bed. The thought of her older sister waking up without Rose by her side hurt the teenage girl even more. Rose hears the people talk about her sister, saying Ivy is a “human vegetable” so Rose quickly shuts her peers up, still not giving up on Ivy even after the doctors said there was no hope. Everyday William T., the Latham’s neighbor, and Rose go to the hospital after school to see Ivy.
The health care profession I chose to research is the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Venom Response Program, also known as the Venom One team. The Venom One team is an elite group of specially trained firefighters/paramedics that is part of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. They are the only emergency response team specializing in antivenom treatment, and they run the only anti-venom bank open for public use in the United States. They once had a documentary series on the channel Animal Planet called Swamp Wars.
Before going to prison Pamela was the life of the party. She loved the attention that she was getting. Going to jail made her change especially when she realized the people that she called her friends did not come to visit, write, accept her calls or deposit money on her books with the exception of Alicia.
First of all, the part of the story of Ivypaw taught me that sometimes even the worst things that you imagined happened could possibly make your life better. For Ivypaw the most important thing is not what she knows or who she know, but who knows her. Thus, she worked so hard that even risk her life to be the spy in the dark forest, and the origin of this idea was just envy. In the end, although she is not one of the power of three, she played an extremely important rule of saving the four clans and beating the slayers from the place of no star. As Steven Paul Jobs said “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you
Immigration is one hot topic in today’s conversation and society. Many think that immigrants coming to America are taking many jobs away from who need them. Some also think that there are jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans would not perform due to the horrible working conditions, low pay, and lack of important medical coverage. The immigration issue has come to a point where the United States must make a decision to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount of immigrants coming here.
The North American Free Trade Agreement has often been on the end of never-ending scrutiny; many say the loss of jobs in America are because of the agreement, and others say that the US economy was already on its way to losing them, and the agreement is helping drive prices down in America to make goods more affordable. With how much negative review it has in the states, one has to wonder how it has influenced the states’ southern neighbor, who has also bought into the trade agreement. Like within the states, some argue it has negative consequences while others believe it has bolstered the Mexican economy and positively impacted the country. If the countries trade as a percent of GDP is anything to go by, the latter seems to be correct. While
Many people have been in situations when they are in a group and a dilemma comes up. When they come up with a solution, things can go so smoothly at first but over time someone in that group overpowers the lower class. This is an example of absolute power and is a very corrupt way of ruling. Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely because they will always take rules and twist them around just to fit their satisfaction, the person in power always hurts the lower class just to stay in power, and they stop making good decisions for their people. When someone owns absolute power they twist the rules just to fit their satisfaction.
