Pit Bulls What do you think of when you hear aggressive breed or dangerous dog? Pit Bulls have been given the label of an “aggressive breed” or “dangerous dog.” A dangerous dog is one who inflicts serious injury, or poses an imminent threat of serious aggression toward people or other animals. One reason a dog may become aggressive is their living arrangements. Living indoors compared to living outdoors affects their behavior greatly because a dog who lives indoors tends to have more positive socialization than a dog who lives outdoors (The Star). The most aggressive dog can be a dog who transitions from living indoors and outdoors. Another reason a dog can become aggressive is the amount of positive socialization the dog gets (The Star). Their living arrangements affects this as well, but so does the type of socialization a person gives to the dog. A dog that has negative or very little socialization may not know what to do in a positive social situation and may become aggressive towards the people in the situation. A dog that has lots of positive socialization tends to have more people skills and is likely to be more friendly to new people and other animals (The Star). Attitude is another cause of animal aggression. When people give positive attitudes towards animals, the animals tend to give a positive attitude or behavior back. When someone has a negative attitude towards an animal or to something they are protective of, like a mom’s puppies, they tend to protect themselves or others by being aggressive (The Star). Also, when a dog feels he or she is in danger, they will tend to take an aggressive action to protect themselves. It does not matter if the person causing any danger is friend or foe (ASPCA Aggression). The environment of the animal matters because it can greatly affect their aggression
Cesar Millan who has his own show on Nat Geo Wild called Cesar 911 works and owns his own pit bulls. He has had a dog named daddy who was raised with Cesar since 4 months old. Cesar had a large pack of dogs so it made daddy well socialized and never aggressive with other dogs. Daddy with two small boys of Cesar’s laying and sleeping on daddy he got the best play time with his kids and was calm and soft with Cesar’s kids. If other dogs were being mean to him he would just walk away and not start anything(Millan). With that in mind I feel that pit bulls are misunderstood and can be very good pets if raised with the correct and proper training. These dogs might look mean and aggressive If the dog is trained by someone to fight they will take the most time to open up.
Pit bulls do not inherit dangerous characteristics, it is the way the owner trains the dog. Every other breed of dogs has bitten a human before. Pit bulls guard people’s houses from burglars and just people in general they guard. Pit bulls are not even in the top five aggressive dogs! The most aggressive breed of dogs is a wiener dog. Pit bulls love adults and children.

Incase we’ve forgotten, all dogs are descendants of the wolf. Somewhere along the line we assumed that because the dog has been domesticated that we no longer have anything to fear. This concept, however, isn’t true. All animals act instinctively, they don’t act accordingly to their training. As long as their owners are present they might behave properly but who is to say how they will act when their owner is no longer present. We have to remember that we all have that flight or fight mode and therefore when faced with fear or danger we might not act logically but instead instinctively. The reasons why a pit bull or any animal may attack are to protect, for territory, possession, out of fear, to defend, for social status, frustration, and when in pain (ASPCA, para. 7-13). The dogs’ wild relatives are territorial and they live in certain areas and defend their land from intruders. Anyone willing to enter will face a charging dog. Dogs are a social species and if left alone they would create small packs of family and other dogs. If one of them
Did you know that pit bulls were one of the most popular dog breeds in America? Well, today pit bulls are considered either vicious or dangerous. I think that not all pit bulls are dangerous like a lot of people think since they can save lives, other breeds can be just like the pit bull, and they are over-reported on the news. First of all, pit bulls are over-reported on the news intentionally. That causes people to think that all pit bulls are dangerous.
The problem is that pit bulls have been bred by humans in the wrong way and that is what causes them to turn out to be an aggressive dog.
