They label dogs without knowing the basics regarding dogs behavior, psychology, nor training. Dogs are animals and need help in being adapted to the human world. When a baby is born, the mother teaches her newborn how to eat, how to speak and even as a society how to think. When a puppy is born, it is born to an animal world, full of instincts and "proper dog life". Sometimes we get upset when we see immigrants acting in a certain way. Dogs seem to be one of the most common and beloved pets in our society. Many even consider their dog to be a family member. One thing that is especially great about dogs is that there are many different breeds of dogs out there that have different characteristics, and traits. Which gives people the option to choose the type of dog that is right for them, but one breed in particular has been banned in various places, and discriminated against that breed being pit bulls. Breed specific legislation targets pit bulls based on misconceptions, appearance, and poor knowledge about the breed. Breed Specific Legislation and discrimination in general are not justifiable against pit bulls.
Although, not all people have to advocate for the breed because people like specific types of dogs. For example, I personally hate small dogs for no apparent reason. It is understandable for not every person to stop the negative way pit bulls are portrayed. In many cases, pit bulls are not always friendly and their aggressive behavior is not due to stereotypes or abuse. Not all dogs can be loved by all people and not every dog from a specific breed can be friendly to others. In no way are all pit bulls one-hundred percent perfectly behaved, just like any other breed of dog. All you can do is read and understand that they do not deserve the extremely hatred portrayal as they have been for so long.
Dogs are what their owners make of them, they are shere products of their environments and feed off of how their owners treat them. For example, in America pit bulls, over the years have been portrayed as harmful or aggressive. These views have lead to manying uncompassionate acts towards this lost breed. Such as, selling the dogs for drugs to people who could care less about them to forcing pitbulls in harmful dog fights. In America’s society today some often view pitbulls as just a way of breeding dogs. This means that they essentially are not taking part in what it actually means to have a pet. People are suppose to provide, feed, care, and love their dogs and in some cases that’s not their important objective. The underlying issue that
The abuse of pit bulls drew national attention in 2007. “Over 30 breeds of dogs are responsible for over 500 fatal attacks in the past 30 years”. It wasn’t just pit bulls. “All dogs defend territory, they exhibit dominance and if allowed can become protective of their family.” “Aggressiveness has many definitions and its stimulus of the environment that causes behavior problems.” Some cities and towns have banned pit bulls. Some people believe no one should own pit bulls and “the world would be a better place without them”. These people are trying to destroy the breed through “fear tactics, half truths, and lies.” Other people believe pit bulls belong in any dog loving home and can and should be in public eye. Many people don’t have a clear understanding of pit bulls. In that case when the owners have negative effects on the dog because they are a lot more work than expected. Ending in many of the dogs living in shelters. People get pit bulls and fail to give them the outlets they need turn them into “loaded weapons.” Some outstanding qualities can be challenging for people who don’t have a lot of experience with dog ownership or have limited understanding of the pit bull. “It is man who is responsible for the dog’s behavior, not the breed of the dog.” “It is man who is responsible for the dog’s behavior, not the breed of the dog.” It’s up to people who allow their dogs to become dangerous and determine whether they will be useful members of a community or a
The pits that are raised in a fighting environment usually are the more aggressive dogs and the more likely to be euthanized because of their aggressive behavior. These fighting dogs are the reasons for most of the stereotypes directed towards the dog breeds. For example: “Pit bulls are the most aggressive dog breed” (17 Things...) Pit Bulls scored an 86.8% on the American Temperament Test or the ATT, which is a test that all dog breeds take in order to figure out the dog’s temper and aggression. The higher the score the better the dog, and the Pits just so happen to score second best, putting them above other common “nicer” household dogs like the Golden Retriever, the Beagle and the German Shepherd (Pisani). There are also many Pit Bulls being blamed for the actions of their owners, because of many of these actions it has caused many states to ban Pits. There are 17 states in the U.S. that have some type of pan against the breed (Pit Bull Bans (USA)...). Although these bans are places many criminals still continue to breed the dogs under ground and receive no
If you raise a dog With whips and chains, of course they're going to be mean and bite. But that is, the owners fault, not the dogs!!! Besides pit bulls aren’t the only dogs that kill there are many dogs that have taken life’s, and you’re just going to get this one dog? When speaking of “Pit Bulls” it relates to usually three breeds of dogs: American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and American Pit Bull Terriers.("Breed History") These three breed of “Pit Bulls” are all organized into a group of vicious animals because of the history attached to them. The American Pit bull terriers are being wrongfully mistaken for the “American Bully” breeds. These dogs are ones that are specifically bred for the purpose of protection and fighting. The “American Bully” breed is a cross of the American Pit Bull terriers with other bully breeds or dogs that are also bully breeds that will increase the dog's abilities. This association causes anyone who sees a “Pit Bull” at a dog park, or being walked down the street to walk around them in fear. The similar characteristics that the “American Bully” and American Pit bull terrier have makes both breeds look appeasing to those wishing to use them for violence. This is also the case with other dogs that hold strong characteristics that could be used for violence such as Rottweilers and their mixed breeds. According to dogbitelaw.com, “Banning one so-called dangerous breed will merely hasten the upswing in popularity of some other breed that will be used for vicious
Be the voice for the voiceless. Unfortunately, people are not the only ones who face many different stereotypes and discriminations throughout their lives; animals such as, pit bulls face similar struggles. Pit bulls that are often perceived to be “dangerous” animals happen to be misunderstood and stereotyped against the most. Therefore, I believe pit bulls should not be banned in some communities because a pit bull’s behavior depends on the owner, pit bulls are just like any other dog breed and they can be very protective and loving to others.
Numerous people misunderstand the way pit bulls react to situations, or why this breed in particular remains regarded the way they do. Pits remain seen as extremely vicious animals that hold no other purpose in this world other than hurting people and animals. Countless people discriminate the breed for what they hear from others or what they witness on television, but that simply is not the case. Many people have not even seen the loving, caring and compassionate side of a pit bull, yet the fact of the matter remains, no one wants to due to the public continuously giving them an immoral reputation. Pit bulls should be allowed as pets as long as the owner possesses the proper experience with larger breeds of dogs and understand how to handle an overactive and playful type of dog.
Every day in the United States, there are pit bulls be banned, and euthanized. Dog Shelters are overfilled with pit bulls. There are approximately 937 cities in the united states that has some sort of a Breed Restriction legislation. To me this is absurd! People are getting these dogs and are training them to fight. It 's so wrong. Pit bulls are so discriminated against now because how people are training these dogs to fight. Every time I hear about a dog fight or seeing a pit bull chained up makes me really upset. I 'm tired of it. How would those people feel if they were treated like that? I personally love Pit bulls, but some people don 't. I personally own a brindle pit bull named Boosie. I always say how a dog turns out depends on their owner. I had my dog ever since he was a puppy, and I raised him very well. He 's so sweet and loving. I don 't see how people would want to ban pit bulls?
Shelters put down pit bulls every day, thousands of them, because the media has deemed them vicious. Shelters believe that no one would want such a monster, so why should they keep them when that space could be used for a better dog? Animal violence in general is unacceptable, and we should not blame any animal more than another for protecting themselves.
Pit bulls are the most misunderstood dog breeds in the world. When people hear the word pit bull they automatically think of dogs fighting and attacking.
