Picked Fence
The pain was greater than any other I had experience thus far, and I was afraid of what would have happened next.
It was spring break a week where the weather is delightful therefore we were heading out to Mexico. I think I was about 6 years old, and I knew I was very excited to see my only grandma and others in my mother’s side of the family. The week went by fast as if by a blink of an eye it would have turn from Monday to Saturday and yet we still had so many places to visit. We were all bored, so we had began playing games. We got pine cones and started throwing them at one another like dodge ball. All fun and games until we began playing follow the leader; I was walking behind my cousin, Stephany, and my sister, Berenice, was walking behind me. I was just tired and wanted to eat; my cousin walked through a picked fence, I followed when suddenly my pants got caught on the wire. The only thing going through my head was, “No, these are my favorite pants!” All I wanted to do was to get untangled form the wire, so I was pulling and I was feeling a burrowing in my skin. The wire had ripped right into me and the pain was so tremendous that all I could do was to yell for help and cry for my mommy. My cousin and sister panicked while my aunt ran to me and carried me to the table and sat me down. As I turn, my parents were returning from picking out food and when they saw me they ran. They ask questions of how things happened. They ripped my pants open, placed a bandana into my mouth and said, “Bite down”; I did once the alcohol slide through my leg I cried as it burned. It was an exhausting pain and they carried me to the truck and told me we were going home soon. Those soothing words to my ears were like a kiss
August Wilson did not name his play, Fences, simply due to the melodramatic actions that take place in the Maxson household, but rather the relationships that bond and break because of the “fence”. The “fence” serves as a structural device because the character's lives are constantly changing during the construction of the fence. It was the day after my sister's Quinceanera, and all my family was here. They were leaving back to their homes Monday morning, so keep in mind it is Sunday. All of our parents were talking outside and saw that us kids didn’t really have anything to do, so they decide to take us to a river that was 5 minutes away from my aunt's ranch. We packed up all our food and stuff and went right away.
Racism plays a huge role in deciding the careers of blacks during the early 1950s and 1960s. As shown in the play Fences, Troy experiences racism which has a strong effect on the direction of his career. Troy is an amazing baseball player but he has a job as a garbage man. When baseball finally became integrated in 1947, Troy is beyond his prime so he never has the chance to live out his dreams in the Major Leagues. His racism experiences made him aware of what his son, Cory would have to deal with in the field of sports during this time period.

The journey began, the first state we rode through was Alabama, I couldn’t see much since it was night time. All I could see was the clear night sky. No stars were shining that night. The only lights I could see were street lights, building lights, and other cars. Looking around inside the car, everyone was asleep except for my uncle since he was the one driving. I must have been asleep the whole 4 hours and 46-minute car ride through Mississippi because I don’t remember anything, same with Louisiana. Finally, when we got to Texas all I wanted to do was get out of the car, so luckily, we stopped by to eat at Cici’s. My aunt said, “To enjoy this last meal since it was the last fast food, that we would be having for a while.” After we ate, it took us about 5-hours to get to Matamoros, Mexico. That was where we had to drive through the border to get into Mexico. Once we got into Mexico, there were lines of cars everywhere from people trying to enter and leave at the same time. It was a spring afternoon. It was my birthday and i was turning 11 and my mom exclaimed she wanted to take me somewhere. So we hopped in the car and we left. Then we were driving and about 10 minutes later we were on Tuttle Crossing Blvd. We turned left and i saw BJ’s Brewhouse. Then we pulled into Bj’s Brewhouse, we hopped out of the car, and on the way inside, i saw some delicious looking food. I could smell the food so much it felt like i was in a new world, I could have exploded because it was making me hungry.

During the summer my family and me went on vacation to mexico to see my grandma at her house it took us 2 days to get to her town is mexico when we got there is was 11 at night my uncle opened the garage door to let us in when we got off the car my grandma opened the door to let us in her house she gave everyone a hug the her and my mom started to cook food for everyone. After everyone got their suitcases out of the car and took them to there room my mom and dad slept in one room, my sister and her daughter slept in another room and my nephew and me slept in the living room. Way before I ever existed, my parents met in Etzatlan Jalisco, Mexico in the month of October. A small town located near the capital of Mexico, Guadalajara. They dated for about two years before my parents decided to come to the United States. When they moved to the United States, they lived in Mount Airy, North Carolina with my current Godparents for about a month. After a month passed by my parents had moved to Virginia, where they stayed living in their own trailer throughout the pregnancy stages my mother was experiencing. Last year in October I came from school as usual I remember that day was very cold and I was covered in winter clothes my stomach growled from the hunger I had, so I went to eat a hot soup so that the cold would take away. While I ate the soup I listened as my parents talked I could not hear clearly so I decided to go quietly to listen to my parents they decided to move from Mexico to United States the reason why my parents decided that it was better to go to the United States was for job reasons, while I processed everything they said suddenly my mother called me along with my younger brother and explained the reasons why it was necessary for us to leave.
We had a great plan, we decided to go explore the fourth room of the basement. Once inside we started climbing and playing with the elliptical. I looked over to the treadmill and said to jerry, “I’ve got a great idea. Why don’t we get on the treadmill with only our socks on and run as fast as the treadmill can go and then jump off.” Now jerry was only a year younger than me but he of course thought it was a great idea. So, we each took our shoes of and stood on the treadmill, the treadmill itself was relatively old and was so close to the wall. We stood there not thinking of the consequences of our actions, looked at one another and grinned a big grin. I turned the knob slowly, we started speed walking the running and running faster till we were panting, the knob was on fast burn the fastest setting on the treadmill. Jerry jumped off, me on the other hand tripped over my socks, I fell and the treadmill still on the fasts setting pushed me up against the wall my neck to the back of the treadmill and my legs bent over my head like a contortionist.
