The Philae mission caused an enormous effect in scientific research In November of 2014. The Philae lander is a miniature probe that was dropped from the Rosetta spacecraft on to a comet to help scientists research the many wonders of comets. The Philae mission was crucial for scientific research because this mission helped scientists figure out and understand more about the early history of our solar system and they were able to take many comet samples.
The history of our solar system is one topic that scientists were able to gain information on due to the Philae mission. “A Success in Space”, an article that reveals the story of the Philae one mission, states, “Researchers consider comets the remains of the ancient solar system.” (Keady 5) This quote shows that comets can be a key to finding more about the remains of the solar system from long ago. Ashley Yeager, the author of the article “Comet probe may shed light on Earth’s past” wrote, “By studying these hunks of rock, dust and ice, scientists hope to better understand the early history of the solar system—including Earth’s early years.” (8) This example proves that scientists hope that comets can help them assimilate more information on the history of our

Cameron Keady, an author, wrote, “It will take photos and dig up samples from the comet’s surface.” (1) This quote proves that the Philae lander took photographs and samples to help solve questions that scientists have been asking for years. The article “Comet probe may shed light on Earth’s past” says, “ The robotic lander has already been sending back photos and probing the rock underfoot.” (Yeager 10) This example shows that the lander has been able to take samples and photographs for scientists to learn more about our solar system. Therefore, when the Philae lander took samples of the comet 67P, it was one cause of many new scientific
Phillis Wheatley was the the first African American writer to have her books published in the United States. Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral written by Wheatley was viewed as a model for the importance of education with religious aspects, as it was often seen throughout her poetry. Formulated mainly of neoclassical elegiac poetry, Poems on Various Subjects triggered several discussions concerning the length to which Wheatley can be deemed a minor poet or whether she wrote to express politics and moral trouble.
Lastly, the Philae mission was important to scientists because they discovered new gasses and matter on 67p. Passage 2 paragraph 10 states, “Philae may even get to observe gasses or other matter emerging from underground as the comet heats to scorching temperatures.” This evidence proves that Philae will be able to find new gasses and matter because the matter on the comet will be extracted with Philae mission was very
I have chosen to teach metin how to juggle a soccer ball as it is a closed skill and the results are predictable and consistent. Closed and self-paced skill as it is under the direct control of the athlete, making it an easier skill to teach over 7 days. Juggling a soccer ball is a gross motor skill as it involves large muscle groups such as the quadriceps and the hamstrings. It’s a serial movement as it in theory it has a beginning and end movement to each juggle making it a discrete skill, however it is also continuous in nature as the intention is to continue the movement for as long as possible
However every scientific field is important, and those rocks gave us a better understanding of the
Scientist have discovered that a meteor, has been lost for 25 years after losing orbit has finally been found headed toward Clare High School. Most of the people in Clare, Michigan were all freaking out, while the student of Clare High were calm and collective. “We say it will hit in approximately 5 days,” one scientist said, “So we shall head to the Smithsonian Institute of Science and Technology in Washington D.C.”
Most of us are familiar with the panspermia hypothesis – that life can be “seeded” from asteroid, comet, and planetoid contents – but to date, no direct evidence has been discovered. So, why should we consider meteorites to be possible parents? The truth is out there somewhere and these space rocks contain the essentials, as far down as to amino acids. Until now, what has been recovered has been regarded as structured. However, the matter of Tagish Lake arose.
Passage one “A Success in Space” has an extraordinary mission. It talks about The Philae lander the passage states, “The Philae lander is about the size of a washing machine. It dropped from the Rosetta spacecraft and landed on comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko, known as 67p.” It landed on 67p to research and conduct experiments. One interesting fact is that by learning about
The lab report this week required us to research the New Horizons mission that is still going on today. We were asked to list some information about the mission, what it hopes to learn and what we’ve learned from Pluto and its surroundings thus far. Personally, I was able to watch the live briefing and seen the first photos released of the dwarf planet in July and I am anticipating the next year of information we we’ll receive. Since the closest passing we have learned numerous insights about Pluto and its moons that were previously unknown. As the world waits patiently to discover more and more as the year of data comes in, we know that this is a giant leap in planetary exploration.
In the excerpt “A Success in Space” it talks about a probe called “Philae Lander” it is the first spacecraft to set down on a comet. The goal for this spacecraft is to take photos and dig up samples and pieces from the comets surface, the
Philoctetes, the bowman, is a most haunting and ambiguous character of Sophocles. He represents the pain which the world subjects all creative people to. Keeping his simplicity and innocence in a world of confusion and lies ends up being his greatest challenge. Through intense character portrayal, Sophocles presents the story of Philoctetes in a way so that the reader can empathizes and truly understand the pain of Philoctetes.
Thesis Statement: With the advances in technology, scientist have opened the door to the discovery of Pluto,
The Rosetta spacecraft has spent the past two weeks studying a part of the comet inaccessible to Philae, but as of August 11th the mother probe has returned to its position above Philae, and is awaiting its signal.
Rosetta was a wonderful and useful spacecraft. Results from Rosetta’s mission were very interesting and helpful to the astronomers. The scientific instruments involved in Rosetta’s mission were very supportive in collecting data. There were lots of people longing for Rosetta’s mission.
The article explains the consequences of their efforts to drill into the Chicxulub crater in Mexico, the site where the asteroid supposedly struck. There was a lot of arguments as to which scientist would take the core section to analyze. In the end
In the outer limits of our solar system there is a planet unlike any other, Pluto. Pluto was discovered in February of 1930 by an American astronomer, Clyde Tombaugh. It is the only planet to have been discovered by an American. All though we have known of the existence of Pluto for over thirty years now, there are still many mysteries surrounding this celestial body. Being the farthest planet has made it difficult to study Pluto, Adding to the obscurity of this strange planet is that the capability to send spacecraft such distances has never been achieved. Through the wonders of science and astronomy, there are many things that can be determined, concluded, and hypothesized about this obscure planet.
