It is with great enthusiasm and pleasure that I recommend Peyton Silverman. Peyton is one of South Windsor’s talented seniors who have left a positive impression on me as well as many others in our school and community. Well known for her skills on the softball field, Peyton does not lose sight of the importance of an education, and works just as hard on her academic skills as she does with athletics. A level of maturity well above his age, Peyton has a promising future ahead. Peyton is friendly, well-mannered and intelligent. Peyton has continued to develop in all areas of her life throughout her high school career, devoting time and attention to the school community. Peyton takes her academics seriously, which is apparent when he speaks to me about her courses. Possessing strong time-management skills, she strives to improve each year. She has developed …show more content…
Peyton shows the same commitment both on the field and in the classroom. As a member of our varsity softball team, Peyton sees his involvement as more than just playing a sport – the experiences and the lessons learned about dedication, winning, losing, leadership and teamwork are most important. It’s enlightening to see how Peyton makes a connection between the classroom and softball. He is able to take the knowledge gained in the classroom and use it in softball and vice versa. Peyton is well prepared and certain about pursuing a degree at the collegiate level. Her eyes light up when talking about her future career goals. Her tremendous amount of experience playing softball and volunteering has only strengthened her future career goals. She possesses both the skills, discipline, and motivation that is sure to lead to success. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I recommend Peyton Silverman. She is excited about being an active member on campus. She will be greatly missed, but we are excited about her
Sarah Clancy is a Freshman Husky here at Chino Hills High School. She is very involved in school and extracurricular activities. Sarah is on a pitcher on the Chino Hills High Varsity Softball Team, and she says she loves playing softball because of the feeling of adrenaline and seeing her hard work pay off. She is also in the Health Science Academy, and she is also involved in Key Club. Sarah says her favorite thing about being a Chino Hills Husky is, “ the support system and friendships I’ve made this school year.”
One of the most well know players of all time is Jennie Finch. Finch, like many great players, started playing the game very early on in her life at the age of five. Just a mere three years later she pitched her first ball. During Finch's high school career she was known for being an athletic girl. Her senior year she was Captain of her volleyball team, basketball team, and softball team. Finch lettered in softball in all of her high school years and most recently in 2016 Finch’s high school, La Mirada, retired her jersey number, the first time for a softball player.
Carol is originally from the Philly Cheese Steak State ( Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). As of now, she resides in the Garden State (Morris Plains, New Jersey). Before landing her job as John Jay’s Athletic Director she came from a very rich softball background. Kashow was a head coach for multiple Division I schools. That includes the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Drexel University. With all these high competitive coaching jobs and as a successful softball player, she got the recognition from the College’s Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Softball Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Board of Officials for Women’s Sport Service Award. It’s clear to say that Carol Kashow has made her impact on the great sport of softball. During her interview she states softball has always been a passion of her. This passion started from about seventh grade and is still around for her. She stated that even though her current residence is “small and little”,it
When I was playing travel softball for Angels Fastpitch in my second year of ten and under softball, this memoir began. My coach would not play me much because he said I was not good enough, he said I could not catch. He said many other things all were horrible. The emotions that came
Next year I will be attending Eastern Illinois to play softball and have to fight for a spot on the field since I will only going to be a freshman. Harper drove himself to be better and he did not stop until he reached his goal of playing in the MLB. Much like him, I am also going to have to work incredibly hard to be able to get onto the field. I have found such a deep passion for this game and when Harper said, “Love the things you are good at,” it hit home for me. I have been playing softball since I was about five or six and have also put in my fair share of time into this game.
Unfortunately, every player will be told something negative in the athletic life. Jennie said, “At the age of 12, I was told I was not a championship pitcher”(Finch 3). Today, most athletes will give-up right, but she didn’t do that. She chose to presevere and kept on working hard; she wanted to prove the coach wrong. During her youth, her love for the game just kept on growing; she never had to be told to go the extra mile, or go and work on her own.
As the level of competition increases among children, they begin developing their skills at a younger age. Recruits attend camps, showcases, home run derbies, and receive private instruction. Continually, parents think they must spend thousands of dollars for their child to play on a highly competitive travel ball team. Consequently, colleges begin recruiting at an earlier age despite the substantial amount of growth and change that occurs during the teen years. Therefore, in today's world of softball, if a player has not verbally committed to a school by the time they are a sophomore in high school, numerous division one spots have been filled and they are most likely out of luck for a scholarship. This problem of children aged 13 through
Not only was she an amazing pitcher but an amazing hitter as well. During her freshman year at UCLA her batting average was .382 with 15 home runs and 128 RBI’s. She hit a .401 her junior year, and in her senior year she batted a .501 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI’s. She still ranks in the Top 10 Offensive players for UCLA. Lisa played at UCLA from 1990-1993 and got a psychology degree in 1995. Later her senior year she was named the most outstanding collegiate athlete in any
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to play college softball. I love the game and have played it ever since the age of five. Softball however, is not the only sport I played and loved growing up. I played basketball ever since I was able. “tough, can take anyone on.”
To whom it may concern, Georgia Beckmann is one of the most intelligent, thoughtful and witty students I have seen in my counselling career. These qualities are impossible to miss through how she approaches her assignments, the quality of her insight into topics at hand, discussions in class and extracurricular activities. Georgia’s hard work has consistently earned her some of the highest grades of her class since freshman year, and she has continuously challenged herself each year to improve the quality of her work and analyses across academic disciplines. Georgia has earned straight A’s throughout her entire high school career, which is no surprise based on the hard-working spirit she exudes every day in all of her classes. This has carried
I highly recommend Allison “Ally” Baccus to receive your consideration as a student athlete for your scholarship.
Taylor Johnson, a student here at Chino Hills High School, is an exceptional player in both track and volleyball. Although she has participated in track for eleven years, Taylor has just recently started playing volleyball as well. For the past three years, Taylor has played as a middle blocker for both high school volleyball and for the Mavericks Club Team in Corona. She practices for two hours three times a week and when she’s not spending time hitting and blocking volleyballs; she sits down to read a nice book. Although Taylor does not want to play volleyball professionally, she still plans to play at Cal Lutheran University, where she will be attending school in the fall. Although volleyball and track take up most of her time during the
I enjoy helping others pursue their passions and achieve their goals. Softball is a sport that has taught me many important life lessons including teamwork, leadership, and dedication. As softball is a sport that has taught me so much, I spent several weeks of my high school summers volunteering at softball camps. It was always rewarding to see the young girls discover their passion for the game just as I did when I was their age.
In class, Bailey is constantly working hard to do her best on every assignment. Not only does she complete her assignments to the best of her ability, but she often goes above and beyond what is necessary. She makes sure to have her work checked before turning it in and asks many questions during class. This hardworking quality will take her far in the future!
“We need to talk about your daughter's performance,” my homeroom teacher, Mrs. Nelson, baldly admitted to my father. “She, no doubt, is a wonderful student,” she beamed at me, yet her smirk did not seem to reach her black, stern eyes, “she has perfect attendance, always has assignments and homework done, never talks unless called on, and just in whole, a polite and good-natured, young lady. But, she is still struggling immensely. As a result, I deem that it would be
