Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to do at least one of the following: give a monthly donation, a one-time donation, gifts, food, or toys to the animals apart of the ASPCA. Or adopt a pet from the ASPCA, to advocate, report animal cruelty, volunteer, foster a pet, and spay, neuter their own pet.
Central Idea: My goal is to inform the audience about animal cruelty to persuade my audience to donate or take action to help prevent and save animals affected by abuse.
Organization: Problem-Solution

If you are looking for a new family member but you have to have a German Shepard that is the only dog you have ever wanted the ASPCA is there to help so you don’t have to go to purchase a dog through a puppy mill. All you have to do is go to the ASPCA website and go to adopt a pet and type in the breed you would like and it comes up with hundreds of dogs of all different ages of that breed.
Transition: In Conclusion,
Conclusion
I. Summary Statement: Animal cruelty is a major problem. We need to stand up and help protect and save these animals. They do not have their own voice so we have to be it. Animals are suffering in puppy mills. Dogs are being abused and fought everyday. People are hoarding hundreds of animals inside their homes.
II. Final Thought: No matter what your situation is the ASPCA has a way for you to help out regardless of the amount of time or money you have. You can donate just sixty cents, sixty cents can be found in between your couch cushions any amount can help at least one animal. You can adopt a pet from the ASPCA instead of a breeder. You can donate your time by volunteering. You can help an animal find their happy ending and give them a second
Every 60 seconds an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
Have you ever been watching tv and the ASPCA commercial comes on, you know the one that has the song “Arms of an Angle.” The commercial makes you feel super sad for the poor animals that have been abused and victimized because of cruel behavior. They ask you to donate money to help these animals recover. What if when these animals do recover they were turned into Service animals. This is a matter of great concern in our community because we could help get most, if not all the animals adopted into a loving home. In order to understand the issue more completely, I looked at turning shelter animals into service animals. Other members of my Group project are looking at TNR/Euthanasia, Physiological aspects of owning a shelter animal, and Worldwide
Have you ever seen the ASPCA commercials where they show pictures of abused and neglected animals while the Sarah McLachlan song “In the Arms of an Angel” plays in the background? It is heart wrenching to watch and I always want to help those poor, defenseless animals. I took this opportunity to volunteer at the Town and Country Animal Shelter; a non-profit, no-kill shelter run entirely by volunteers serving eastern Nebraska and beyond. They are dedicated to providing a safe and caring living facility for pets in need until a loving home can be found, as well as helpful information for those wishing to rehome or adopt an animal. I chose this organization because they are a no kill shelter and they take in animals of all different sorts.
“Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats” (Pet Statistics). Many animals are rescued and taken to shelters all around the United States. These shelters provide all the resources and take care of the animals until they are well or adopted. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ASPCA, is a non-profitable organization that is dedicated to preventing animal cruelty. You should donate money to the ASPCA or even adopt a pet if able to because it provides money to the animals to give them the necessities they need, it supports the animals that have been poorly treated, and it helps get animals out of poor
We are helping to shape a society that continuously improves the lives of animals,” as stated by ASPCA President and CEO, Matthew Bershadker. Just like my dog Tank brought so much joy and fulfillment to our lives, so has so many other animals from the ASPCA brought to the lives of others. It is evident that the ASPCA is an organization that all should support considering the fact that it fills the void of both the animals and the families whom are welcoming them into their hearts and homes. Although individuals say substandard comments about the ASPCA organization, there are hard facts that prove otherwise. For example, people often claim that the ASPCA is a kill center, where many animals are euthanized for no apparent reason whatsoever; however, this is not the case. Animals are only euthanized when they are violent and pose a threat to others (Position Statement on Euthanasia,
The world and its people are not the only things that need assistance. We must not forget about the animals.Because animals cannot speak their concerns, we have to be their voice. There are animals roaming around homeless with no food or water and most of them have been abused. Animal lovers including myself, wont let this continue. Yes, there are many charities that have contributed to making animal abuse and neglect stop, but this issue hasn't been fully ceased yet. In result, I would like to support the non-profit corporation, ASPCA (the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). The ASPCA was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world to stop animal abuse and/or neglect. It was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. This organization is a no kill for space shelter. These are only some of the reasons why this organization is a noteworthy
ASPCA helps because animals are homeless and have no food. The way they help is by going out in the city and looking for animals (cats, dogs) that have no home. There basically doctors because like if they find a animal with no legs they give them a wheelchair type. One time I was looking at a story on TV and animal had ran away and the woman had
In the United States, about 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters every year. The overpopulation of these animals and the fact that they have no homes leads to about 40% of them being euthanized (ASPCA). This is a global issue, but the root of it can be found within the local community at The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley.
ASPCA has grown so much even in just a year. In the beginning of 2015, January 1, to be exact, to December 31 of 2015, they were able to rescue, care for, and find homes for large quantities of animals. According to the ASPCA website, on the about us article, ASPCA was able to save 1,200 animals in general. They had 4,600 animals adopted through their organization. ASPCA also spayed or neutered 54,300 animals. Lastly, ASPCA gave $12,000 to animal welfare organizations(ASPCA).
1. ATTENTION GETTER: Millions of animals are abused each year. Over a million of these animals are abused or killed just due to the involvement with domestic violence. Despite animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time for over 15 years and 500,000 dollars in fines, it is still an issue which occurs on a daily basis across the United States. It is important for these animals to not go unnoticed, which can be achieved if society became more enlightened and educated on the topic of animal cruelty. (Pacelle, 2011).
Introduction: I remembered how throughout my life I respected and admired people that tried to help animals in need. I remembered how I felt when I saw first-hand the result of abuse. I remembered how I wanted to help those poor animals that were being treated so cruelly. And for all that I remembered, I decided that the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) was the interest group I felt strongly for and chose to research.
Well, luckily, there are shelters in different places that help animals that aren’t able to take care of themselves. Did you know that every year 3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats enter animal shelters in U.S.? If you think that figure was huge, now imagine around 1.5 million of them are being euthanized every year because the shelter doesn’t have enough money or volunteers (ASPCA) to take care of them. However, this number can be significantly reduced if we start to make a change. With my speech, I would like to persuade you to from now on look for pets in a shelter instead of a pet store. In order to do this, I will provide information about the differences between shelters and pet stores, reasons to adopt a pet, and how to do it.
Animal cruelty has been going on for years at a time. With the illegal hunting of animals and cruel test given upon them it makes you wonder if anybody really cares about what is being done to animals. Author of “Animal Rights, Human Wrongs”, Tom Regan, discusses the cruelty of what several animals go through and what people are doing about it. In this selection Regan tries to appeal to the emotions of the reader, gives facts on the things that are being done by people to animals, and tries to establish his credibility in the reading.
One possible way of helping the animal shelter save more animals is to donate money. If you donate money there will be so much more to use to save these forgotten animals. The money donated can be used to add on the shelter and make it a bigger and better place for the pets inside. Once there is enough money donated
Do you own a pet? Do you know anyone that has a pet? Chances are, you do. According to the ASPCA, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 37-47% of people in America own dogs, and 30-37% own a cat. Most of us could agree we would do anything for them! Because, even when we don’t show them compassion, they will provide unconditional love. So there is no reason for us to shove them too the side. But when people do, they will likely end up in a shelter. This meaning, six, seven, even eight million dogs are waiting
