The popular build-and-survive video game Minecraft could very well be the most surprising tech success of this decade. Created in 2009 by programmer Markus "Notch" Persson, expanded by a small team, and advertised mostly by word of mouth, it has more than 100 million users. To drive home its success, Microsoft bought the game a few months ago for a staggering $2.5 billion.
I'm sure you've heard many kids, teens, and adults in your life talking about Minecraft. Here's why that might be a good thing, and how to keep it from turning bad.
1. It builds creativity
I'm a huge fan of Lego. My son and I have spent hours building the model on the box and then taking it apart and making whatever else we wanted by rearranging the parts. Minecraft gives kids the same creative freedom, but it's easier on your bank account. Plus, you'll never step on a loose piece barefoot in the dark.
If you haven't played or seen it, Minecraft is a very blocky world, i.e. everything is built from blocks. The ground is made up of blocks, trees are blocks, and even your character avatar is very blocky. You get progress in the game by scavenging or mining blocks of various materials such as stone, wood, lava, etc. You use these as the basis for your creations, or combine them in "recipes" to create more advanced materials, tools and objects.
Some of the things Minecraft players have built are truly staggering: massive vehicles, intricate skyscrapers, working analog computers, and even the entire
I have had Minecraft for around 2 years and 3 months. I bought it on May 22. 2013.
I have been playing Minecraft for a quite long time. Around 2 - 3 Years.
I would like to tell you a little bit more about the way Kidslox works. Our app was created to block third party apps, but not the in-built phone functions like calls, text messages, etc. So, if you switch the app to the Lock Down mode at night, the in-built functions of the phone will be available, but the access to the third party apps will be restricted.
How long have you been playing Minecraft? Since 2012. I was playing on my brother’s account for a while and then I bought my own one.
Jim Crow laws does not play a role really in today's time, but there is still some racial problems. Predominantly white schools sometimes have better education systems, and get paid more on a job than any other race. Sometimes mostly black/Hispanic (lower) communities look nicer than a community with mostly white or higher income communities.
We have now gone through 3 games and a scrimmage, with another game tonight. Now, You can make all the excuses in the world for why we lost the first two. “They’re like number one in the state”, “That was a bad team for first week”, “We didn’t have all our guys”, the list could go on and on. But one thing is for sure, and that’s that there is no excuse for the way we played those first two weeks. There’s no excuse for missing blocks, running by tackles, and taking plays off! Not a single excuse you give will make that ok! You can’t do those things and expect to win games.
I was old, but not deaf. I easily discerned the familiar jibes as I made my way through the restaurant. “That’s Congresswoman Underhill. Boy, is she over the hill.” “Yeah, and she’ll be under it pretty soon.” I didn’t respond, partly because I was late for my party. Also, I didn’t want to embarrass the speakers, who might once have been my constituents. I loved that they still recognized me. I even agreed with the sentiment, which was truer than they realized.

As the Olympian watched the flaming torch blaze past him, he felt nervous and excited about representing U.S.A in the Olympics. Next, he walked with his teammates in the parade of athletes during the opening ceremony. The butterflies in his stomach fluttered more and more. In just a few days he will be competing in basketball. He hopes to win a gold medal and make U.S.A, coach, and family proud of him. Before he knows it, he will be standing on the champion podium receiving the gold medal around his neck with the U.S.A national anthem blaring in speakers and the crowd cheering loudly. With tears rolling down his cheek as he hold his bouquet of flowers high, and knows that he has accomplished something great!!
The aircraft carrier project led me down a path of learning, solving, creating, and building. I started to build Lego projects, but found that I would rather design projects than buy kits. I loved the fact that I could build anything I could imagine. What really kept drawing me back to Legos was
At thirteen, I began to play the popular sandbox game, Minecraft. As I became more familiar with the game and how it worked, I started to puzzle it and how it was made. I found that the developer, Markus Persson,
Imagine a world, that is anything and everything. Race a dream car. Meet a superstar. Go to Paris, New York, London, or even see the Great Pyramids. A virtual reality - an idea that is coming to life, an idea that will change the world, whether it be good or bad. Ernest Cline, the author of Ready Player One, warned us that virtual reality is going to change the world. Ready Player One is a story about a teen named Wade, in a world where video games are everything. A virtual reality world called the OASIS changed the world into a place where people are antisocial and don’t care about the world anymore. Change with VR can already be seen with the invention of the TV, the phone, the iPhone, and numerous other inventions, It’s already happening - the world is blowing up over Vive, Oculus, Hololens, and more, and VR is going to make things happen: such as solving problems. Is change happening? Are problems going to be solved? Yes, we can already see change.
Minecraft is a game where the player uses their imagination to shape the world around them using the resources they find. In the world everything is shaped like a block or a cube, this includes the trees, the dirt, the water, the clouds, even the sun, everything. This simple game hasn’t even been released yet but has already sold over one million copies. Minecraft was created by one man, Markus “Notch” Persson, and this is his story.
1.8 Billion, 1.8 Billion gamers in the world! That is more than the population of India or China.
