Immigration is what has made the United States what is today. The inflow of immigrants, both legal and illegal has changed the demographics of the United States and it has an enormous impact on the social, cultural and economic of the country. However, the immigration system of United States has always been an issue, especially when it comes to the education system for the undocumented immigrant students.
In the Plyer v. Doe reading, it indicated that states cannot constitutionally deny and are required to provide all students a free public education, regardless of the student’s immigration status. However, the Supreme Court decision does not apply to the education beyond high school and the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) prohibited the undocumented immigrants to receive any postsecondary education benefit. Besides that, many people critics on the undocumented immigrants that they destroy the education system and legal students’ learning environment. Data shown on American Progress website, there are 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school each year, imagine that these groups of students can’t attain a higher education and their future in college is much less certain due to their lack of illegal status. Not only the federal restriction but also the lack of financial assistance caused the undocumented students have the problem to attend the postsecondary education.

Ever since 2011, the war in Syria has made people want to escape their war-torn homelands. Thus, giving these refugees no place to go. These migrants need a safe place to call home and a place where they can get a job. Countries such as Germany, Great Britain, and the United States should accept refugees from war-torn homelands because they want to help the refugees and they are actually going to help the economy, also the migrants are trying to escape the violence, not bring it with them.
Sanctuary cities. The burden of many politicians and the home of many immigrants. California being one of these states that have several cities that are sanctuary including Oakland where a recently controversy brewed up. In late February, the Democratic mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaff tipped off the community of illegal immigrants through a Tweet that helped them escape from the Immigration and Customs Enforcements (ICE). The tweet said the following "I know that Oakland is a city of law-abiding immigrants and families who deserve to live free from the constant threat of arrest and deportation. I believe it is my duty and moral obligation as mayor to give those families fair warning when that threat appears imminent.” ICE’s intended number of captured immigrants was roughly around a 1,000 however, they only manage to capture roughly 200 of the illegal immigrants from Oakland.
Sanctuary cities have been a hot topic in the news lately due to America’s illegal immigration problem. These cities protect immigrants that enter the US illegally. Because there are no background checks, criminals can cross the borders as well as those seeking a better life. According to our current president, Donald Trump, “Our cities should be sanctuaries for Americans- not for criminal aliens.” Even former President Bill Clinton cracked down on federal immigration enforcement. In his 1995 State of the Union address, he said, “We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent
Accepting illegal immigrants gives the opportunity for America to be seen as a good country. America will be seen as a helpful and open place to everyone. Accepting Mexicans will make the other countries see the USA as a country that cares for others and is willing to help them. A country that is willing to help immigrants fulfill their American dream. Illegal immigration has been a controversial issue in the U.S. Majorly race group affected by immigration are Mexicans. Mexicans are hard workers that come in search for a better life and are willing to do anything. They increase diversity and expand their culture in America.
The number of immigrants unlawfully in the U.S. has been steady at 11 million.( number of illegal immigrants in the u.s. Holds steady at all million). Most of these immigrants aren’t allowed to attend university because of the issue that they aren’t legal U.S citizens. ( “I Can’t Go to College Because I Don’t Have Papers”: Incorporation Patterns Of Latino Undocumented Youth.) Everyone as in immigrants any other race should have an opportunity on college access and better education. Immigrants or any other race should not be discriminated by others if all they want is a better life for their children , undocumented parents come here so that their children can have a better education. All immigrants are living people such as white , any other color , residences or not they can feel the same way as an other color of person with a residence
Donald Trump portrays himself as the protagonist, because he thinks Illegal Immigration is a disgrace and that Hispanics are the sole villains to the American dream. This speculation is world-wide, to the GOP, think Trump is the antagonist. So far, the government has let illegal immigrants enter over the boarder to become free Americans. Hilary Clinton is interviewing with CNN News reporters and she spoke about the speculation as this, “Certainly from my perspective, what is being said (on the republican side) is incredibly offensive, it is unrealistic, it’s mean spirited”. She refers to Trump as a bully, and that everyone should follow the American Dream. Obama states after announcing that they can open the gates for the immigrants, “We can-I know we can, because ‘si puede’.”
Should illegal immigrants be deported and not be allowed to pursue a better way of life in America? Immigrants did want, in fact, to become Americans in every sense of the word, not just in terms of the ability to achieve a measure of economic prosperity. Immigrants and refugees are entrepreneurs, job creators, taxpayers, and consumers. According to Center for American Progress “They add trillions of dollars to the U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, and their economic importance will only increase in the coming decades as America’s largest generation...” The goal of this research paper is to construct a strong case that illegal immigration/deportation should be dealt in a different manner, show how America benefits from this and is best addressed in terms of culture relativism, poverty/inequality, and post modernism.
Lots of people move to different states to start a new life and to better themselves. They want better for not only themselves, but for their families. This is also the same for immigrants. As an immigrant they come here to live better. In their countries, they may not have the same opportunities to do want they need to obtain the level of success they desire. They should be able to obtain some of the rights that citizens have. I believe that they shouldn’t been turned away for medical treatment or if they need emergency help shouldn’t be afraid to call the police. America is the land of the free and home of the brave. Everyone should be able to live comfortably regardless if they are a citizen or not.
There has been a huge problem in the past few years with illegal immigrants crossing the border to make it to America. They do it for the same reason immigrants did it in the past. They want a chance at the same economic opportunity that everyone else in America has. Hundreds cross the border everyday. President Obama has been making measures to enhance the border patrol to make sure fewer families are encouraged to send their children across the border in hopes of giving them a better life. He is also making sure that they are only deporting the people that pose a threat to America and not the families. If an immigrant passes all the criminal background checks, they will be able to live in America for three years at a time while paying taxes.
Headlines about illegal immigration blare across the television screen every day: California creates sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants, illegal immigrants are stealing American jobs and resources, and Trump vows to build a wall and have Mexico pay for it.
Our country was built on immigration. It all started with the pilgrims wanting to have free religion. Without immigration, our country would not be the way it is today. It also brought new culture, new religions, and new language. The topic on illegal immigration interested me because a couple of my family members were illegal and they had went through many complications because of that. Then also when Trump talks about building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants is very irrelevant. There are illegal immigrants coming from all over the world, not just Mexico. I believe anyone should be allowed to enter our country legally, yet take our precautions. One of the many reasons why immigrants come to America is to find a better job, to have a better life for themselves and their family. Now the main question we should be asking is, should illegal immigrants be allowed to stay in the United States?
So again, I think that we’ve got to keep all of this into proportion. We had 109 people that were temporarily detained. They’re all in, but they were temporarily detained to make sure that the safety of the other 324 million Americans was put first. I don’t see how that’s a big problem. … And again look at how it worked when you talk about the 325,000 people, 109 were temporarily inconvenienced for the safety of us all - Sean Spicer. The ban was a 90-day ban that didn't allow the people from Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Iran to enter the America starting on March 16th, 2017. The travel ban was abruptly stopped after two federal judges called for an end to the ban one judge stated that it was religious discrimination. The book A Raisin in The Sun
Illegal immigration has our nation divided between those who believe undocumented immigrants are leading to the corruption of America, and those who believe they deserve a chance at a better life and should be able to stay. Many argue that illegal immigration brings in criminals, ruins the economy, and takes jobs from Americans. But the biggest issue with illegal immigration is the safety of our nation, and not knowing who exactly is entering our country. And I believe that in order to secure our nation, we need to initiate a guest worker program, set firm punishments if not followed, and also remember that these are families seeking a better life, not gangsters or thugs.
Illegal immigration can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Millions of illegal immigrants have come across the Mexico border in recent years. Even though these people aren’t documented, majority are good law-abiding people that help the economy with production and putting more money into the economy. The problem is that the Government doesn’t know who these people are and can be enemies of the United States. But it isn’t just Mexican immigrants traveling through the deserts of Mexico to reach America. Here is a story of a fourteen year old girl named Josseline Quinteros. Her mother was an undocumented immigrant working in Los Angeles and over the years she saved up enough money to pay a “coyote” ( smuggler guide), to bring Josseline and her 10 year old brother up from El Salvador through Mexico into Arizona then out to L.A in 2008. After the group she was with crossed the border into southern Arizona they began travelling through the Tumacacori wilderness where Josseline fell ill. She told her younger brother to keep on going to find mom, the coyote decided to leave her in the desert and the group moved on. The young boy went on to find their mother, but Josseline was later discovered deceased. She was one of 183 migrants that died in southern Arizona in 2008. This Government funded program named Program Safety Net will help single mothers and their children crossing the Mexican border.
Immigration as a whole is very healthy for the United States. It promotes cultural diversity within our borders which helps other people get to know what it’s like in other parts of the world. Additionally, it gives people that are fugitives a place to call home and make a living off of the life that they are given. However, illegal immigration has been a problem for the United States for a long time. Thousands of illegal immigrants have come into US through either the Mexico border, the Pacific Ocean, or through many other ways. Some people have entered the country legally through a visit visa, but then have stayed illegally and are working in various places. There are good reasons and bad reasons for illegal immigration. It is great because it provides the local economy with some sort of labor, making them more productive. However, these illegal immigrants do not pay taxes and their employers also do not pay their taxes. Illegal immigration is overall a negative because these people do not abide by the law, are sometimes running criminals, and can make the United States an overall unsafe place to live.
