A very common argument is whether or not medical marijuana should be legal throughout our country. As some states choose to be legal, more research is being done to show the impact that it is made. Many worry that it will do more damage than good, giving people to opportunity to abuse it. What we need to be paying attention to is the effect it has on people with diseases, the money involved, and whether or not it is proving itself. I will argue that medical marijuana should become legal in all states of the United States of America. A very important start would be understanding the difference between medical marijuana and regular marijuana. Knowing the differences can help educate and put forth the benefits for those who doubt the safety of using it. There is an article from "Civilized" that really points out how deeply medical marijuana goes for safety.
The main difference between cannabis flowers you find in medical marijuana dispensaries and those you find on the street is the knowledge behind each strain's genetics and cannabinoid profile. Questioning whether or not they can benefit from it, the states that have legalized marijuana are seeing the benefits pour in. "Medical marijuana sales are projected to grow from $4.7 billion in 2016 to $13.3 billion in 2020. Adult recreational sales are estimated to jump from $2.6 billion in 2016 to $11.2 billion by 2020" (Borchardt). How is this helping the states it is sold in? The purchases will be taxed. This money will not only help those with diseases, but also put more funding to other things such as
In this essay I will be giving reasons and evidence for the use of medical marijuana to get taken off the ban list for the NBA and NFL. I will go in depth on why this could help athletes take the edge off and much more. there are plenty of reasons such as it can treat glaucoma,it can help control epileptic seizures and a chemical found in it and many more reasons.now lets get focused on why it should be taken off the ban list for athletes a major reason is it can help recovery go a lot faster. “This pain is never going away. My body is damaged,” said Eugene Monroe, 30, who was released by the Baltimore Ravens last year three weeks after becoming the first active player to publicly call on the league to permit medical marijuana. “I have to manage it somehow. Managing it with pills was slowly killing me. Now I’m able to function and be extremely efficient by figuring out how to use different formulations of cannabis.”. That’s not the only source advocating for medical marijuana there are many more retired nfl players that use it that we will get into later.in summary of the introduction there are many reasons why it should be taken off the ban list and I will go into more depth in the rest of this essay.
The legal states that started to make Marijuana legal they had to waste money first ,for example they had to waste money on opening the dispensaries and having the money to grow their own Marijuana in the state. Investopedia.com was able to explain on all the financial benefits from being able to legalize Marijuana. For instance, it will save the government a lot of money, to even saving our taxpayers a lot of money, and legalization will boost our fund for schools, roads and etc. Let’s take for example Colorado, they were able to collect over 135 billion dollars in taxes for the usage of medical and recreational Marijuana in their first year. Now in 2017 the sales was able to total to 996 million dollars ,and Marijuana is the strongest economic out of all other industrials active in Colorado. Colorado is now able to spend all that revenue money to fix their street, improve schools, get more after school programs started ,and money also went hospitals to. I am from Chicago, Illinois and my state is in debt they tried charging our grocery bags and soda drinks to try to pay of the debt but that left many people unhappy. If Marijuana was legal nationwide Illinois will probably match or pass over Colorado’s 135 billion dollars they got Marijuana. That money will be able to go and pay of the debt that Illinois has and even to other thing that Illinois need like fixing streets, school and etc. Even Marijuana Police group showed that legal
Research has showed that 1 in 3 people in America have tried marijuana at one point in their lives. Marijuana is even referred to in today’s media mainstream sources that people enjoy like cartoons, music, movies, and TV shows it’s sad that you can’t even watch a good family show with your kids without drugs. Imagine you are 10 years old again, playing a basketball game in front of all your friends and family. You are running down the court when all of a sudden you see everyone around you concerned and calling for help. You just had your first seizure and have no recollection of the event. Now imagine having that happen to you over 10 times a day, every single day. Doctors have told your parents that you should not play spots, drive, or even walk across the street alone. This is the story of my younger sister. She was lucky, however, and as she got older her seizures vanished. Many children are not so lucky. How do we cure people who do not respond to medication? How do parents consider giving their child an illegal drug? Medical marijuana is one of the most controversial topics between the 29 states that have legalized it and the 21 who have not. We need to be educated on why we should legalize the medicinal drug and why people believe we should not. Medical uses of cannabis date back to ancient Egypt, China and India. (Marijuana and Cancer para.2) I sit here at my computer desk, wondering where to begin on such a serious debate. I have been researching for this paper for all most a month now. I would like to start with an Irish physician named William Brooke. He popularized Medical marijuana in the west. In, 1830 he was introduced to medicine while abroad in India. Since then cannabis was entered into the United States Pharmacopeia in 1850. (Marijuana and Cancer para.3) Some of marijuana’s uses were for, Alcoholism, opiate addiction, gout, insanity, and excessive menstrual bleeding. In Israel cannabis has taken off in research, they have legal medical marijuana studies. Study show two hundred cancer patients found that cannabis led to significant improvements with all cancer treatments and Cancer treatment related studies. (Tens Ways Marijuana Can Help Cancer Patients para.3) If cancer patients can consume cannabis and say if helps with side effects tremendously in chemotherapy, shouldn’t we use this to our benefit? Cancer patients should have the rights to use Medical marijuana in every state.

Legalized and medical marijuana in Colorado is generating 1.3 billion dollars in tax revenue, which is 20 percent of their annual budget! This crop needs to be legalized because of the millions of dollars of tax revenue it would bring in. As a result of this, the government could fund much-needed underfunded government programs. The governments of the different states are spending a great deal of money to try to prevent drug use. Newly found evidence states that marijuana does not increase the risk of lung cancers, which are typically associated and correlated with this type of drug. All this money that is being used could be going towards local/global programs that are way too underfunded. Although marijuana is still considered an illegal substance in most states, legalizing, regulating, and taxing it would create endless revenue that could fund a variety of government programs.

The legalization of marijuana was accepted in some states, for medical purposes only. There happens to be two states that made marijuana legal. Washington D.C. and Colorado made cit both medically legal, and recreationally legal. Medical marijuana should be a privilege for patients, that indeed need the prescription. When people abuse the right to receive medical marijuana, it should become illegal. Legalizing marijuana to illegalize it again, could be done by the people; not taking full responsibility for the privilege they are receiving. But, how would we determine some that needs it, from someone that doesn’t ? In order to receive medical marijuana, you need to get a prescription. There are doctors that prescribe patients legally. But, you also have some that do it illegally. Could this jeopardize the people that need medical marijuana, from the people that, receive medical marijuana for fun?
