For many people the idea of the government limiting something they love, is preposterous. Over the past few years the gun mortality rate has rapidly increased because of the accessibility of getting a firearm. Although most gun owners believe that there should be no new reform on their firearms because it would simply violate their natural rights, there are numerous others that do see why the system needs to be more secure in allowing a person the right to own a weapon. A new set of laws should be mandated to prevent just anybody access to something that can potentially risk the lives of one person, but many others as well. However, how would putting limitations on guns, change people´s actions and views on their government.

A statistic from a webpage called The Trace, says that since late December, “ … a total of 12,942 people had been killed …(Mascia)” whether they were killed in a homicide, unintentionally, suicide, or murdered. Gun owners would argue that guns are not the problem but the instability of a person or the inadequacy of enforcement to prevent certain people from getting their hands on a dangerous weapon. Many people, to justify their right to possess a firearm, say that this sort of violence would not occur if there were more regulations on the jail system rather than gun ownership. However, with the increase of deaths by guns in the last few years, many believe that now is the time to act on the growing issues of weapons
