Concussion Essay The most known sports in the united states is football. Everyone watches football, especially the super bowl championships some people even throw a party to support and enjoy watching. I would allow my son to play football because it can be build dedication, inspiration, and builds character. One reason why I would allow my son to play football because it can build character “ it's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get back up”. You can play all day, and if you get down it don’t matter. What matters if you have the courage to get back up. “If you can believe it, you can achieve it”. No matter what you do, you shouldn’t have to put your mind into it, but believe in what you put your mind to and make it
I would not allow my son to participate in the sport of football if he asked me to allow him to play. In Scott Fujita’s article “Would I let My Son Play Football?,” Fujita states “But I hated what football was doing to so many people around me, and I hated what it was probably doing to me.” Fujita was a professional NFL player and yet he did not agree with how the sport was affecting those around him. If a previous professional player does not like how the sport affects others, then that is a sign to prevent my children from playing. The author also states “The latest dark reminder came Monday when a 16-year-old high school player from Brocton,N.Y., died after a helmet-to-helmet hit in a game friday night.(Fujita 3). The fact that a 16-year-old
You are a worldrenound goalkeeper play for one of the best teams in the country. The left forward has the ball and is coming at you with full speed, she fires a powerful shot to the lower corner of the goal. You leap with all your might and all of the sudden, everything goes black. You wake up in the hospital bed with an excruciating headache. The trainer rushes over to check your condition and informs you that you were in an awful collision on the field. Turns out, while you were diving for the ball, the Philadelphia right forward came running at you, full speed. She kneed you in the head, knocking you unconscious. She tells you that you have a career ending concussion and you will never be able to play soccer again. This is what happened
Studies show, by law a player must sign off by a medical professional before the player can return to the field. Studies also show, concussions and or head head injuries are linked to permanent brain damage. The question frequently asked is "should injured athletes be required to sit out for periods of time to allow time for the brain to heal completely?" As an athlete, I think athletes should wait. Only because if a player gets one concussion and goes back to their sports and gets hit in the head, that could lead to permanent damage for not giving the brain time to heal from the previous injury.
Football is a dangerous sport. It's a game played by strong minded and physically gifted
Athletes who experience a serious blow to the head on the field, court or ice should seek the attention of a medical professional as soon as possible. These individuals should leave the game and not be allowed to return until cleared by a medical professional. The new concussion guidelines based on the latest scientific research and endorsed by six major medical organization states if the symptoms last more than 15 minutes, athletes need to be monitored for up to a week and return to competition gradually. If their symptoms worsen, he or she should seek the closest emergency room. Just because an athlete states he or she 'feels fine' doesn't mean that he or she should be put back in the game. Concussion have already been the cause of ended
300000; the number of concussions per year in the United States, according to the the Centers for Disease control. A concussion is a blow to head, face, or neck, or a blow to the head that causes damage to the head. Athletes who receive a concussion should be required to sit longer than a day or two, this will allow them to recover and heal properly. This should apply to not just children either, adults should be required as well.
The rapid escalation of attention in regards to concussions, and the harsh long term health issues these injuries produce, has immensely transfigured legislation in society, sports and within the courthouse. These injuries are evoked through nationally recognized contact sports such as hockey, football, soccer and rugby. These sports entail high levels of aggression through tackling, sliding and fighting. Aggressive behaviors are found in athletes who have intense urgencies to compete and win which may result in rough contact with opposing athletes. The increased awareness on the crisis has specifically targeted sport organizations, schools and government to intervene by putting in policies and regulations to promote safety for all athletes.
Allowing your son to play football is of the greatest assets to him, especially with learning teamwork skills. When playing football the athletes have to communicate with the coach especially your teammates. In the article, “7 Awesome Reasons Why Kids Should Play Football,” by Youth Football Online it states that, “Teamwork is a trait that these kids will need into teen and adulthood.” Youth Football Online also states, “ Youth football will also assist in the development of social skills, which is necessary to be successful in not just football but in life as well.” Another statement from the article is, “Set goals and work competitively towards them is what youth football should be all about.” It is not just a sport it prepares the youth for life after school.
Concussions are a very common injury among high school athletes. The majority of people do not realize that your brain needs more time to recover after a concussion. Once getting a concussion you are at high risk of getting another one in the future. Teens also have different symptoms than most adults and may not report the symptoms right away. Concussions can lead to serious brain damage down the road. Health providers should be taking these cases more seriously considering more than 300,000 sports affiliated concussions per year.
Football is a sport loved by so many people, that a whole corporation was made for fans to enjoy it, the NFL. But do the fans know the risk that football players put themselves in when they step onto that field? It doesn't matter if you have experience there is always that risk for a concussion. Even kids playing youth football or teens playing high school football are at a high risk for concussions. Obviously, whatever guidelines out there that are meant to protect football players from concussions aren't working so something needs to be changed. Personally, if I was a parent I would never let my child play football unless the helmet, tackle guidelines, and penalties for late hits were improved. However I do understand why parents allow their children to play football, it is a sport like I said, loved by many and just fun to watch.
Football should be banned in the United States because it can lead to a concussion, can cause brain damage, and can even kill you. When anyone plays football whether it’s professional, college, or high school you can get a concussion. A concussion is also known as traumatic brain injury(TBI), a concussion is caused by the violent movement or jarring the head or neck. Most cases of brain injury are concussions. People who suffer from concussions generally fully recover fast. However, in some cases, symptoms can last for short periods or long periods either days or weeks. The common symptoms of a concussion are the imbalance, confusion, headache, memory loss, loss of consciousness, vision change, hearing change, mood change, fatigue, and malaise. For about 9 to 10 people with concussions, symptoms disappear within 7 to 10 days. The most common causes of concussions in sports is football, rugby, hockey, and basketball.
My first research project was the dangers and preventions of concussions in sports. Concussions can be very dangerous if you are not wearing the proper equipment and do not treat them properly. For those of you who don’t know “a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head or body, a fall or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull”. There are many symptoms of a concussion. “You may be suffering from a concussion if you experience dizziness, headache, off-balance, amnesia for what occurred before the head trauma, anterograde amnesia (a loss of ability to create new memories after the head trauma), difficulty concentrating, irritability and vomiting”.
There are many different reasons why including sports in a child’s life can help build them for their future. A few of the more obvious reasons include healthy weight, social skills, and self-discipline. According to Greg Wells of aboutkidshealth.ca, “Starting a child in an organized sport gives them a healthy habit of physical activity to see them right through to adulthood and help them ward off many age- and weight-related ailments” (Wells). In addition to the short-term benefits, as children develop in life with the inclusion of sports, they learn to become attentive and gain stronger strategy skills (Wells). More specifically, football has the potential to develop strong
Indigenous students need special support to improve school adjustment and academic performance. Instead of using target standards, teachers must consider students’ interest area and adapt to changing explicit teaching methods (Altman, 2009; Bonney, 2018a; 2018b; Klenowski, 2009). For example, Warrego Primary School implemented horse riding, swimming and musical learning programs to increase students’ confidence level, and later that confidence, help students to meet the national literacy and numeracy benchmark (Duffy, 2007). A child’s early experiences determine later success or failure in the school, and that is why the early intervention is essential. However, some Indigenous students may have joined schools later in their lives; for those
