Canvas Update to Students Thank you, dear early adopters of Canvas! We appreciate your skills at embracing the change. You are helping HSU shape this system and will surely help your fellow students through the transition as well.
As you know, Humboldt State University is continuing the migration of our learning management system from Moodle to Canvas. As we all learn this new system together, it is exciting to know that this transition will provide dynamic tools for students that have not been available in the past. Moodle Maintenance and Canvas Building The transition to Canvas will be complete by Fall 2017. In the meantime, most classes continue to be taught in Moodle during the Fall 2016 semester. Instructors will continue to move their courses to Canvas throughout the 2016/2017 school year. During this transition we continue to maintain the Moodle system and ensure that we have appropriate in-house support for the system. As we work through the complexities of implementing this LMS migration on the back end of the system, we are committed to making this transition as easy as possible for our campus community.
Continuing Canvas Contributor group meetings with faculty and starting to meet with students who are early adopters of the system.
Increasing communications to campus about trainings, support, guides and templates.
And building a training support system to help faculty learn about the new tools that make Canvas a more dynamic and engaging teaching and learning system.
Here are some of the exciting features that Canvas has to offer students and faculty:
Grading
Amazingly integrated and easy-to-use grading tools and set-up within Canvas that provide many opportunities for student
I'm Pearl. I'm a student from your EDP310 class. So earlier, I checked Canvas and I noticed that I only got 5 out of 10 on the Unit 2 Study Guide assignment. I checked Canvas for assignments daily; however, I have never been notified about this assignment before, and therefore I am quite surprise with the grade that I received today.
The teaching, learning and support material is provided electronically via the University’s Blackboard Learn system. You can gain access to the Blackboard Learn system via the following webpage:
I am very excited for this semester in ART 135. I have always been very interested in art, I like to draw and use watercolor paint. I also sell little animals made of “junk” at farmer markets during the summer. I am excited to expand upon my drawing ability for personal reasons as well as educational reasons.
While pursuing my Master’s degree in education, I developed all of the skills necessary to design and implement a variety of instructional materials. Through my work experience I learned how to infuse that knowledge with technology to meet the needs of a twenty-first century learning environment.

. The student use of innovative classroom tools will be aligned with the Cityscape School’s curriculum and under the direct supervision of campus faculty. The use of Cityscape School’s technology is a privilege, not a guaranteed right, and inappropriate use will result in the cancellation of that privilege.
Liberty University offers online learning through a tool called Blackboard. In North America, over 90% of postsecondary institutions are using a learning management system such as Blackboard (Bates and Sangra, 2011). Blackboard courses are structured around a standard menu that gives students access to both academic and administrative tools, as needed: Announcements, Course Content, a Discussion Board, Grades/Tools, Faculty Information and LU
I was so incredibly excited when Neal Dougherty began talking in class on Thursday because I was on the wait list for his 306 classes this spring. Sadly, I did not get in, but I was so thankful he came to talk to the class! Hearing about the digital artwork Neal and Dax have created is exactly why I wanted to do the Bridging Disciplines Program in the first place. Graphic design and 2D artwork is one of my passions in life and it is inspiring to hear from people who have been so highly successful in this digital art world.
E-mails, texting, messenger apps like WhatsApp, and other similar software have expanded humanities ability to communicate in everyday life as well as in the classroom. It has also opened the door for homework, quizzes and tests to be done online and sent via Dropbox. The availability of these websites makes completing these assignments easier for students but also easier to grade for professors and teachers alike. Certain websites are made strictly for schools and universities to use for these assignments such as eLearn, used by Walter State, or Blackboard, used by The University of Tennessee. Students can e-mail assignments straight to teachers faster and easier using these sites.
E. Preview of main points: So today I will tell you about a few staples found in the culture of art students, how I have become involved with it, and how I believe sketchbooks are an integral part of art student culture.
To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in a tiny southern town in Alabama in 1932. The tiny town of Maycomb was home to deep rooted racism. Two children named Scout and Jem live in this town with their father Atticus and when their father is sent to defend a black man their lives see a dramatic change. The children soon learn the harsh truth of their little town and lose a childhood full of innocence. In her novel To Kill a Mockingbird, author Harper Lee foreshadows a loss of innocence through the symbolic significance of building a snowman, a harsh fire, and a mockingbird.

As we discussed, I find the Canvas technology related to using data-driven instruction fascinating and an amazing opportunity for the future. In addition, testing is also a major concern; enhancing student achievement would be a top priority for the person in this job. With this in mind, I would love to foster a safe, engaging, learning environment and implement AISD's tools while honing my own abilities though PLC's and professional development .
Mission Statement: As an educator I will provide for students the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives to help them accomplish unexpected goals. I will enhance learning to support my students in achieving their highest potential by integrating technology into the curriculum. I will integrate conceptual technology learning techniques that will implement concrete knowledge of technology that will emphasize mastery of understanding. Through committed support from educators, faculty, staff, parents, and the community, I will advance learning to support my students. This will allow students to become confident, creative, motivated, technology-ready students. I will provide leadership to
Tools like Blackboard, or WebCT can help facilitate both assessment and support inquiries on the subject matter. Having objective criteria will help evaluate students and give the student a guideline for what is expected in the class. Students gain increased flexibility in taking tests or turning assignments in. Gone are the days of slipping the assignment under the professor's door or trusting the department
