First, the government shouldn’t banned candy and soda from schools because it doesn’t let them experience what happens and the things it can cause to you. Next, teens have cravings for things they can’t have it's called forbidden food theory basically when you prohibit foods they can’t have it makes them more interested. Furthermore, teens should be allowed to learn on themselves they can’t have someone telling them what they can’t and could do that won’t teach them on responsibility on making correct decisions themselves . The government is just making things worse by building a boundary and the way teens think is they think they can do decisions themselves even if it's not the right decision it teaches them the correct decision and teaches
The biggest new trend here at college campuses across the country is to become tobacco free. The reason behind this is that too many people become annoyed and sick from tobacco smoke that is not from there own doing. Tobacco is the number one killer year after year in our socitey. Enough people die every year to fill up an entire National Football Leauge Stadium, which hold around 400,000 people. Now isnt that crazy. A stop needs to be put to all of these deaths and the number one way to start this trend is to enforce tobacco free rules at extremely populated places, college campuses for example.
Many of us have attended school once in our life. And many of us have tasted the dreadful school lunches that are served. Various people believe that schools need to provide more food in a meal. Society has been conversing about the nutrious value in a school meal and they wonder if the meat in the lunches are real or completely fake “beef”. School lunches have become even more unacceptable and need to be re-thought for the health of the younger generations.
One in six children in the United States do not know when they will get their next meal. Children who are facing hunger struggle in school, are more likely to repeat a grade, have developmental concerns and have behavioral problems. The National School Lunch Program has brought meals to millions of children from food insecure families for free or reduced rates.
Have you ever thought why you’re school lunch looks so disgusting? Have you ever thought what it’s actually made of? Or why doesn’t this look like the way I ate it at home? For some schools, lunches lack in many different categories from visual pleasure to taste. If the school lunches taste so bad, why don’t we try another way to make them better. For a school in Greeley, Colorado, they’re doing just that. They’re firing up their stoves and are ready to get the ball rolling. There are many reasons on why the school is taking such a huge step backwards. Like, the routine of buying reheated foods and serving them without hesitation. The schools budget cuts or the kitchen being too old and small for the process of preparing such foods. As well as, the list of ingredients that do not need to be in the foods and the risks of diseases/bacteria in the reheated lunches.
The soda industry has been influential since its breakthrough such as companies like Coca-Cola “giving money to and maintaining a cozy relationship with the Global Energy Balance Network, a nonprofit that promoted exercise over diet to combat obesity, the financial relationship between soda companies and public health groups have been scrutinized” (Blackmore). The city of San Francisco is bringing back the soda tax proposition which will add 2 cents on soda per ounce. Last time around it wasn’t as successful only getting half of the votes when they needed, at least, seventy-five percent. This time around they will only need the half of votes they got the last time. San Franciscan's should pass the soda tax because it would discourage people
One major question that is asked today is whether or not the eating habits of kids and teens be regulated by the state? This is a big problem today with young ones. No young teenager or child has ever grabbed an apple over a snickers bar for a snack. Although a snickers bar once in a while is not a bad thing, every day consumption of products like this creates a long-term problem. In the article Junk Food Nation: How Parents are Ruining Kids’ Health, there are a couple different standpoints from select individuals on why or how to solve this problem. The main issue is whether or not parents are doing a good enough job teaching their children to make health food choices.
High School Students wait all day for lunch, not just to socialize but to actually eat. I know changing to a healthier lunch menu os a good idea because not only would make high school students happier but it would also make their parents happy, make students healthier, and get them through the rest of the school day energized. Unhealthy lunches can make students lazy throughout the rest of the school day, gain weight, and make kids sick. if students are coming to lunch and not putting the right type of foods in their body that's not good because that can translate to body composure in class and also make students lazy and not want to do anything because of all the grease, fat, etc that their lunch meal is giving off. say a student has PE
School lunches have been a hot topic in the Education and Agriculture department for decades. It is noticeably debatable on whether or not to tax more or make costs less, or both. Many students opt out of school lunches due to how unappetizing/non-nutritious it has become, but not every student has this choice and over the past few decades the rate of obesity and type 2 diabetes has doubled, if not tripled, and it begins in the cafeteria. The articles, “Bad Food? Tax It, and Subsidize Vegetables” by Mark Bittman, “Attacking the Obesity Epidemic by First Figuring Out Its Cause” by Jane E. Brody, and “No Lunch Left Behind” by Alice Waters and Katrina Heron, each gave complex views on government intervention, taxing junk food, and enhancement
School lunch: Do we eat what we pay for? Lunch is a very important time for students all over the world. It is the time when all the students talk about what has been going on in their lives as well as what they plan to do in the future. It is also the time when they complain about how bad the quality of the cafeteria food is and how expensive it is.
Sherwood schools decided that students don’t have the right to chew gum. Thinking that the substance will cause a sticky mess and popping will cause a distraction, Sherwood banned chewing it. Chewing gum is helpful in many different ways. However, it can also be harmful to the people having to listen to the dreadful sound of the popping of your gum, while they are trying to work on their classroom assignments. Students with ADD and ADHD sometimes require to chew gum to actually get them to learn. Limiting gum is limiting their ability to take in new information, and isn’t that what the school is trying to do, teach students new things? While gum helps some people focus and learn, it can become a major distraction for others. There are multiple reasons why Sherwood attendees think that gum is acceptable or unacceptable
I think that should should be held all year long, for many reasons. The majority of students want their summer vacation, which is to be expected, but you really do have to look at the bigger picture; there are a lot more solutions to issues that come along with summer vacation. Year round schooling would help teachers with their teaching, the parents with financial issues, and the marks of students. This is really the best choice for everyone, especially when this way of learning boosts grades. The whole point of school is education; not summer vacation.
stated, “Except for smoking, obesity is now the number one preventable cause of death in this country. Three hundred thousand die of obesity each year.” Obesity is a growing problem in our country, and as a result, it has doubled from 1980 and tripled for teenagers. One of the causes of obesity is the choices for school lunches. For example, schools offer pizza, burgers or a sandwich, with little nourishment but should include healthy options such as salads with oil and vinegar or a burger with veggies instead of fries. The latest data shows the childhood obesity rate from two to nineteen years old is 18.5 percent (State of Obesity.org). The first National School Lunch Act was passed in 1946 by Congress because it away to boost the well-being and health of the Nation’s children who were malnourished in the Great Depression. As a result, school lunches are a significant contributor in our youth becoming obese, along with a sedentary lifestyle, socioeconomic status, genetics and lack of income. Salad bars in all schools serving low-calorie dressings, lean meats, fruit, and vegetables would help kids reduce their chances of health issues. Furthermore, revisions to the policy from a fast food concept to healthy lunches would benefit kids in numerous ways. Similarly, healthy food equals healthy students both physically and psychologically, while putting the power back in the hands of the parents making decisions instead of companies like Schwan Corporation.
There is much controversy over school lunches at PCEP, our sample of the students was almost divided on the issue. In a survey of 80 students attending PCEP lasting from Monday to Thursday, we found 35 Students (44%) bought school lunches. On the other end, 42 students brought lunch (52%). We also found 1 person (1%) did not eat lunch and 2 (3%) said they only eat lunch sometimes. Overall, the majority of student brought lunch.
In the article Should Candy and Soda be Banned from Schools the writer of this article shows the both sides of whether candy and soda should be banned from schools or not.I agree with the writer that candy and soda should be banned from schools because it is our first step in stopping obesity in our nation. The reason in why I agree with the writer is because that our generation is known to be overweight or even obese, but if we can switch out the unhealthy food and bring in healthier food we can stop obesity before it even happens.
As I sat there and thought to myself what did everyone thing of me after hearing what I have done. “Taylor Bloom responsible for the deaths of 53 high school students. My head started to wander back to my high school days. In my sophomore year, I was bullied nearly every sing day by the stupid jocks. I started to hate myself so I decided to change my look. The next day I straightened my hair, put a black skirt on, and a white button up shirt with some heels, I left a few of the buttons on my shirt unbuttoned. I was making my way up to the school, I saw all eyes on me even the jocks could not take their eyes off of me. WAS I BECOMING POPULAR? Two weeks later I was the most popular girl in South Lake High. I had a tall, handsome boyfriend and my two new best friends Karli and Rebecca. Everyone wanted to be like me, everyone loved me or as I should say “worshipped me”. Until one night at a party I got super intoxicated and ended up doing things I probably shouldn’t have. That next day everyone was talking about it and all eyes were on me not that I am complaining, but it was not a good look they were giving me… they all knew what I had done that previous night. I did not show up for school the rest of the semester in fear I would lose my reputation so I started getting homeschooled.
