A woman gets sexually assaulted and the outcome is a baby. The woman is deeply upset and doesn’t want to remember what happened to her when she looks at her child. What should she do? Many people will argue that she should get an abortion, but the better alternative is put the child up for adoption. Although abortions have the ability of not bringing a child in the world that’s going to suffer, it should be illegal because it can be unsafe, there’s better alternatives, it’s immoral, and it can be taken advantage of. To start off, every time a woman makes the choice of an abortion, she’s gambling the chance of something bad happening. Per a study, after abortion 65% of women report symptoms of post-traumatic stress. This can lead to depression among women and possibly suicide. Other physical symptoms of abortion are comas, excessive bleeding, infertility, and convulsions. A woman can live the rest of her life in traumatizing pain that may be irreversible. If a woman were to put her abortion in the wrong hands, serious problems can arise. An uncertified doctor who does not know what he or she is doing can cause great harm to the women and baby. Mental symptoms of abortions are anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and remorse. To sum it up, abortions can be dangerous physically and can cause life-long mental illness. Secondly, there are better options than abortion. Instead of killing an unborn child the parents can give up the child for adoption. Many husbands and wives who
The procedure used for abortion is not only harmful to the baby obviously, but it can be dangerous for the mother both physically and mentally. Many of the risks of abortion include bleeding, infection, damage to organs, and sometimes even death but it is very rare (considering abortion). It is healthier for the woman to have birth than going through this dangerous procedure, and if the mother is not ready or does not want the baby, she can give it up for adoption. It is only fair to the baby to at least give it life to live with a family who adopts it than no life at all. After the abortion is over, women think that they are going to feel relieved to finally get this over with. For most women, this is not the case. After going through the procedure and seeing the baby get removed from their body, they almost always feel immediate regret. Seeing a dead baby the size of the palm of the doctor’s hand catches mothers off guard and traumatizes them and it should. Studies show that most women wish that they had known more about abortion before they got one (considering abortion). So, even though there are physical risks to abortion, the mental risks are the most harmful.
The strain of an unwanted pregnancy would double the risk of developing mental illnesses, such as depression or anxiety. Negative social, health, and psychological repercussions of unwanted gestation would generate greater chances of illness and possibly death for both the mother and child. Recent studies show that getting an abortion would not increase the risk of mental health disorders, nor would keeping the baby.
Some women turn to having an abortion when scared and just a few don’t care about children and kill their child. Only if those women knew what the negative effects of having an abortion before they made their final decision. Woman should have the right to choose whether or not if they should go forward with the abortions with the knowledge of the negative effects. The negative effects about having an abortion are postpartum depression, damage to the organs, and highly complicated risks and if women knew these risks they’ll probably never have a abortion again.
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” These pro-life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro-life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro-choice.
Abortion in America is a hot topic in today’s society. With 1.21 million abortions in 2013 (Pro Life Action League), many people are starting to question if abortion should be outlawed. In 1973, the supreme court issued that banning abortion took away a woman’s right to life, liberty, and property (Pro Life Action League). This ban overlooks the fact of taking away another human’s right to life, liberty, and property; that human, is the fetus growing inside of the mother who aborts it. Abortion should be outlawed in America because it kills innocent human beings, frees people from taking responsibility for their own actions, and because there are other options to not having to raise a child.
For many years this issue of abortion has came out, giving a huge debate about it. Right now, in the United States abortion is legal but may be restricted by the states. The states have limited degree of power. Some of the laws passed by some states are the requirement of parental notification for minors, the term of pregnancy, the abortion risk information given to the patients for the procedure, etc. Abortion is becoming more pro choice. I wanted to research abortion because I didn’t really know anything about it when we had debates in class.
In 1973, Supreme Court made a landmark decision on the Roe v. Wade court case; affirming abortion as a constitutional right for all. This was the beginning of the fight for women’s equality and autonomy. However, women still have been forced to defend their choice against those opposing these decision rights; against politicians and organizations that have dedicated their life to undermining and slowly getting rid of women’s rights until legal abortion is no longer a choice. Each year there have been hundreds of laws restricting women’s constitutional rights; from limiting access to safe, legal
Though the Supreme Court voted pro-choice in the 1973 court case of Roe v. Wade, abortion still remains a hot topic among the American population and political parties. The case was based on an argument on the 14th amendment: right to privacy, that made it the woman's decision to have an abortion. This amendment, however does not protect the liberty and privacy of the fetus, meaning, the child does not receive his or her inalienable rights until after birth. Ever since Roe v. Wade was enabled, there has been a strict division within the United States between the pro-life, and pro-choice believers. The idea of pro-choice negates the 5th amendment rights to life and liberty. What does it say about the right to kill in the constitution? Nothing. Surgically aborting an unborn child is unethical, cruel, selfish, and most importantly, it's murder.
Abortion is a contentious topic; people are either pro-abortion or pro-life. The pro-abortionist are strong on their views, along with the pro-lifers. However, there is a way that people can agree with each other and come to a solution for the issue of abortion. The best way to come up with a solution is to answer the following question: Which laws should be passed that support both pro-abortion and pro-life without leaning towards one side over the other? There are numerous laws that could be passed dealing with abortion, but only few will cause both sides to agree with each other.
Abortion a very touchy subject that can spark debate, whether for or against. But what is abortions and why does it cause so much controversy? “An abortion is a medical or surgical procedure that deliberately ends a pregnancy before an embryo or fetus is born” (“Abortion”1)
A option instead of abortion is a surrogate mother and/or adoption, there's so many women on this earth that cannot conceive children for different reason, but would love to have children. The only bad thing about surrogate is how
Currently in the United States, abortion among many other topics is controversial and causes an uproaring due to the many divergent opinions. The argument behind abortion in America is that when a woman goes and follows through with the procedure, it is viewed as murder in the eyes of many. Religious groups tend to lean towards anti-abortion, and see abortion as a ‘sin’ due to their beliefs, which causes unavoidable debates.
The simple fact that a woman is able to carry a fetus in her womb, and that it will develop into a baby in the course of nine months is miraculous. Being able to procreate is a blessing that not every woman has the privilege of possessing. However, it appears to be that people are forgetting how precious the gift of life truly is. They do not take into consideration the consequences of their actions because they believe that all their problems will disappear once they dispose of the results of their negligence. In this case, people use abortion as a method to escape their obligations. This situation, however, does not apply to all women that feel that abortion is the best option. For instance, the baby might be the result of an abuse.
There’s a lot more to abortion than a woman being in charge of her body though, there’s the topic of rape. Rape is a very strong subject, and can be very hard to discuss. Even in this case though abortion is wrong. Even though the baby was conceived under horrible circumstances their life is still precious, and important. If a woman doesn’t think that she could keep a baby because of how they were conceived, abortion is not the only option. The woman could have her baby adopted whether through an agency, or done privately with parents she could get to know personally. If the mother decides to have her baby adopted then she has a lot of options to decide from, somewhere if in a few years when she knows she’s ready she can have the choice to get to know her child. These methods are called guardianship, kinship and open adoption, all allow the birth mother to have access to her child. If the mother is sure she doesn’t want to know this child because they will bring back painful memories, then
Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and worldwide. Far more human lives have been violently ended by this immoral decision than any other war or genocide in history. It is one of the most controversial issues in today’s society. Abortion is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures. Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for your mistakes. Don’t terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at all.
