Thesis: Lowering the voting age to 16, will be good for the country and the citizens. Lowering the voting age will be very good for the country and the citizens. According to youthrights.org, “the voting turnout will increase”. Teens can be charged as adults in a crime, but can’t vote? Politicians could actually relate to teens. Teens will be able to make decisions for their future. Teens hear about politicians talk about their future but have no voice in what they want. The voter turnout may increase if the voting age is lowered. More teens will see that they have a voice and will go vote. Lowering the voting age will give them a voice and may get the younger generation to come up with new plans and ideas. Counter Argument Paragraph:
Why? It will give politicians a real true reason to respect the desire of the adolescents wanting to vote. Lowering the voting age could and would be a great idea. This is why the government should consider lowering the voting age to 16 .So young adults, teenagers and adolescent whatever you may call them. Get a chance to choose the right politician in the political election to help then now and later in their future life ahead of them to help them be
I personally don't have much political experience because my parents don't vote. Therefore I don't really care much about voting. If kids aren't exposed to politics or informed on why they should vote then I don't believe decreasing the voting age will make much of a difference. If 18-year-olds do not have a high number of votes I don't see how kids younger than that would make a difference. I don't believe lowering the age is solution to increases voters. I think we should focus more on teaching the importance of voting and why it makes a difference so that when they do turn 18 they will understand why they should vote and by understanding that I believe they will be more likely to
Right now, groups are lobbing for Congressmen to pass a bill extending voting privileges to sixteen year olds. By allowing youth to vote the polls would change forever. For example, candidates running for office target their platforms to voters; who cares about people who don’t vote right? But this leaves out over twenty five percent of the population of the United States. By extending the vote to sixteen year olds the amount of unrepresented persons drops to twenty percent. Additionally by having people vote younger they are exposed to
Suffrage has been a universal right in the works for well over centuries in America. At its inception, the United States of America only let landowning Caucasian men to vote, while excluding minorities and women. With copious amounts of protest, those groups eventually got their suffrage, and now voting is comfortably open to anyone eighteen or older. One would assume that with such open doors for voting, that the vast majority of people would line up at their voting booths and cast their ballots with glee. Much to the detriment of this assumption, voting percentages are painfully low and those that do vote tend to be either incredibly biased towards their political party or too old to see the effects of their votes come into play. Thus, by lowering the voting age to sixteen, there would be more diversity in the ballots, a larger voting turnout consistently, and little to no downside for doing so.
By lowering the voting age from 18 to 16 some people suggest improvement of voter turnout. On the other hand the problem is that by doing this there would be a decrease in the participation percentage. Most of the younger people would not take the time to vote; much less take the time to understand what they're voting for.
In my position I agree to lower the age of voting to 16-17 years old because it can raise up the percentage of voting. Many people are not voting because they don't believe it can help them and their community also with the support from 16-17 years old, it can show a huge difference on how the votes are increasing little by little. Also it can gives them experience on what's the voting like. Once they get older, they will know what to do because they registered the vote in an
There have been many advantages and disadvantages to the change in the age requirement to vote. Currently the biggest disadvantage has been the voter participation percentage, followed by the demographic of the voters. With the age requirement being lowered to 16 the negatives may out weigh the postive.
By allowing 16 years old to vote, it could make them more interested in politics. Before voting, they will want to investigate about each party and the policies they have. Which in turn could will make them more interested in politics. There is an urgent need for younger people to get involved in politics and by lowering the voting age this could create a new wave of politicians. By allowing 16 years old to vote, schools will have to teach politics in school and go into greater depth about politics.
Voter turnout would be much larger if we lowerd the age requirment, because a bigger percent of the population would be able to vote. Our young people need to be more involved in our government.
first, i will be sharing with you how lowering the voting age could cause more harm than good by increasing the number of citizens who dont participate in voting. only 38% of voters ages 18-24 actually participate in voting. lowering the age would just cause a lower percent of young adult who actually participate. when the largest age group that doesnt participate in voting is the youngest
Many reason why I feel voting should be at a lowering age. I feel like it should be lowered because in other countries people under 18 are eligible to participate in voting. Also lowering the age of voting would have good results becuse the percentage of people voting would increase and America ranks at the bottom. Many countries have a high population of voters because they are allowed to vote at ages under 18. If it is lowered to under 18 people may be able to experience certain laws that require you to be 18 before you turn 18. These are my points on why I think voting should be lowered becuse of America's
Should we lower the voting age. Will it make an impact on participation in our countrie. Will the younger citizens be more intristed in politics, or will it increase our non voter percentages. I think that we should decrease the age of voters.
Lowering the voting age could help out as well. If more kids who know what the right choice is in voting can vote in would even out the voting percentage. Also lowering the voting age could increase the turn out number for our country. Being eighteen is just a number but at the same time its how much you've gone through and life and how intelligent you can be. Lowering the age to vote could help us and it could hurt us.
Disscussions of lowering the voting age has been a subject that most do not want to subject to, but let's face it. The issue at large is that voters in later years will be majority of older people, the youth of our country need's balance. Which in fact should influence young voters to step out there and have a voice, Since it will be our children and our grandchildren living in this country when we are dead and gone. So in turn another issue we will face is the category of what elder's think is right and how the youth feels is normal, time has changed and majority of young adults are doing things now that would be frowned on in a early day and age.
I believe lowering the voting age for the following reasons, does not make sense. The voting participation percentage is already at a low rate, why dig ourselves deeper by widening our age range to non participants, 16-17 years olds are not showing much interest in politics. If we lower the voting age to 16, we will be trying to catch a blind eyes attention. At 16, what were you and a majority of your friends working towards? Your license. Around this age kids are into highschool parties, sports they are active in and staying up late, studying for the civics test the next morning, not politics. There is one reason for that alone, because they are kids.
