Middle School? What advice would you give to someone starting middle school? For starters always put school first. If you get school work done right away you won't have a stormy cloud above your head the whole week, and you can get the chance to focus on other things like friends, family, and even sports and the things you love. Getting it done right away will help you be successful in the long run. If you can get all of your homework done well and on time you can up your grades, because grades are more important than you think. Failing grades are such a big deal because you can even lose a scholarship from them. Don’t let that happen! Secondly never plagiarize, quote the ideas that you borrow and write in your own words! In fact it is such a good time to learn, while you can brush off any mistakes I feel middle school is the most important time in your life to grow in character. Learn to make the best version of yourself, the best student, the best athlete, and the best friend. Also this year you will need to learn to accept a bad grade. Once in a class I checked my grade and I had a D which I had no idea about, I cried about it and was so confused, because I turned in all of my assignments and scored well on them. The next thing you have to do is talk to your teacher most of the time it is a mistake, or the teacher will more than willingly let you fix your grade. I found out after I talk to my teacher and told her everything I would do to make it up I figured out that a single assignment grade didn't get put into the gradebook by a TA and it was an A again after she put the grade I got on the assignment in the gradebook. To summarize fight for good grades but you also need to learn to accept a bad grade you need to try your best but it is not humanly possible to be perfect so you also need to learn to accept a bad grade once you've tried everything to fix it and it's still not an A you need to learn from it and take the bullets. Next, you need to build your character, but you also need to build a student. You need to figure yourself out your strengths and struggle spot so you can set yourself up to be successful.
A handful of 8th Graders are furious of the cancellation of the 8th Grade advancement. We believe that there is no reason to cancel the 8th Grade Advancement. There are numerous reasons why students here are capsized. We postulate that it has been a BTMS tradition and should not leave for the sake of us and other upcoming 8th Graders.
Do you think that middle school should start later or later in the day or early in the day.
As a passing middle school boy, I feel like I need to share my knowledge with you newcomers. Personally I think middle school stinks.
People often say that the reason middle schools don’t have recess is because it will take away from learning time, and since in middle school you can get gym every day so you don’t really need it. On the other hand recess is a physical activity that can give you a good amount of exercise in a day, better than gym can. Recess is also a fantastic way to improve your social skills, and your fitness. Recess is a good, and exciting way to improve your health, social interaction, and it is beneficial for you to focus better in class.
The question, when should school start has become a very controversial topic over the course of the last few years. Many schools are considering changing school start times to a later time, or have already implemented later start times in middle and high schools. Parents, students, and educators have had mixed responses toward this change. Students are coming to school sleep deprived, and many people feel the answer to this is changing the schedules. Starting school later is not beneficial because many students will not be receiving any extra sleep and this change would only complicate schedules for sports and parents.

Jr. High can be a nasty place. Notice how I said can? You control how you are going to handle it. A very important thing you need to have is study skills. You need to pay attention in class and not slack off or you will not understand what you’re doing. Procrastination is also a huge issue in Jr. High and that is not a trap you want to fall into. Without academic success, middle school can turn into a dark, dreadful place. You won’t want to come to your classes anymore because they have become exceptionally demanding. Having study skills will help you succeed and maybe exceed expectations. If you study for every test and quiz and you do all of your homework right when you get home, your life in Jr. High will be so much easier. Take it from me, a professional procrastinator myself; do not keep your homework until the last minute and have good study skills!
“Ahh...Middle School. So I guess the phrase “they grow up so fast” seems true. I can finally start acting like a mature young adult so to say. But there’s one problem: I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. The night before I just came back from Florida thinking that it would be a piece of cake. BUT I WAS WRONG. Here’s how it went down or at least how I think it went down. One warm crispy September morning I woke up ready to enjoy another day of summer vacation when I realized middle school was starting. I started to panic thinking to myself, “I missed orientation so I have no idea what to do. What will everyone think of me. What if I can’t open my locker?” I get nervous on the first day of school and I broke out in a cold sweat. I was so

One piece of advice I would have to say is not to wait till last minute to turn things in. I personally did that a lot and it lead to a lot of stress and also lead to less free time at home. I remember times where I would come home and would have to stay up till 11 or 12 because I had all my homework to do from school and I would have to Finnish my projects. My next piece of advice would be to enjoy the year. While yes there are going to be a lot of reports and project I had to remind myself that this is my last year of middle school. I could look back later in life and think, wow middle school sucked or , wow middle school was fun and sometimes I wish i could go back and relive so of those moments. My final piece of advice would be to make
Middle school is hard. The homework, your schedule, different teachers, switching classes, friends, not having friends, different groups of friends, girls/boys, projects, band, sports, not making the sports, and homework are all a few things to mention that come along with middle school. Even thinking about these things, middle school is such an exciting, new time that needs to be enjoyed by all students. There are so many fun field trips, experiences, and sharing times, that make seventh grade an amazing time. To make the most of seventh grade, you need to always get a good night’s sleep, you need to always turn your work in on time, and you need to stay on top of all your classes, notes, and assignments.
Although the first year of high school is a big transition, it’s crucial in determining the remaining years of high school because, First, having good grades will determine whether or not you get accepted the university you want and there are more opportunities for scholarships. Second, joining a club in high school will give you an insight in leadership and teamwork. Third, Slacking of your freshman year in high school is a bad thing to do because it will affect your senior year and all the classes you missed or failed, you will have to retake all of them. Lastly, all of these factors all come into play your senior year they can either help you or make your high school years miserable. First, having good grades in your freshman year will open up the doors to more opportunities coming your way. My freshman year wasn't the best I got D's and C's and almost failed two classes. Laziness played a big factor in why I got bad grades I was lazy to do homework and any projects. I had some advice from my cousin’s they would always tell me not to mess up freshman year, but, I ignored them and you start to pay for it senior year by retaking all those classes you failed. To get better grades I set up a planner and wrote down due dates and set up a time organizer at home and this helped me better organize my time to do the work. My advice to all new freshmen is to set up a work schedule for your work it will better your studying habits and make you aware of due dates and the time you
As a typical All American twelve year old girl, Mallory Grossman participated in gymnastics, cheerleading, and made jewelry by hand to help raise money for children with cancer. Mallory was known to be a good student and popular within her group of friends. On June 14, 2017, Mallory committed suicide. This was the day her mother would not get to hug her child anymore, the day her smile would no longer be seen, the day her classmates lost a friend. No one saw this coming, because Mallory seemed a cheerful, untroubled girl who had a bright future ahead of her. The only problem was the relentless bullying that came her way through the use of social media outlets such as snapchat or instagram. Some girls in her middle school used Snapchats features
As you already know, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are clumped into elementary schools with younger grades. If we add a middle school, it could potentially make our community and school system a better place. I think it would be a beneficial investment to build two middle schools for the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders Floyd County. This would help ease the kids into high school and they won’t be as stressed about leaving elementary school. Also, kids aren’t being thrown in with students they don’t already know. I know there probably isn’t a lot of money in the budget and that you wouldn’t want to waste it on a middle school. But, I would like you to at least consider this when you are discussing this with the school board.
¨Change is very difficult, but in the end, it is worth it.¨ said Mr. John Porter. Change in a school can be very difficult, especially when people that have been there are used to the old way. But sometimes, change is good for everyone, especially when it comes to support. We need better support for school sports, in after school programs, ourselves, and most importantly, for our fellow classmates. That's only the beginning.
