Community service is something that as a Junior we have to do till senior year. Community service is when you volunteer to help a non profit organization or a non profit event. This is an unpaid position. There are many benefits to having teenagers do community service. One benefit is that teenagers are learning to be more responsible. If they fully commit to the position that they have agreed to do that shows the responsibility of the individual. They could be doing sports or watching tv but they choose to help a specific organization which proves their responsibility. Something I have always loved doing was working with animals. Cats, dogs, snakes, fish, rabbits, it doesn't matter I love them all. To be able to work in an environment with animals you have to learn to love them all. I personally never enjoyed small dogs but they eventually grew on me because I knew they needed just as much love and attention as the big dogs do. For my community service I chose to volunteer at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm. I was definitely very excited to be able to work with the animals. I specifically work with the dogs. I have learned so much about them. The MSPCA is a very important organization and they do a lot of great thing. But they have also done some bad. They help the community by taking in animals that someone decided they didn't want, couldn't have, or found as a stray. There are many reasons people give up there animals. These animals are pretty well taken care of. We feed them, almost all dogs get a walk 2-4 times per day. To these animals this is a big deal. Many of these animals have never seen what it means to be loved. Its very sad but true. The first time I went to the MSPCA I was very annoyed. I had to sit thru a 4 hour orientation and then I had to follow someone around for another 3 hours TWO weeks later before I could do anything. At this point I was extremely annoyed because I have walked dogs from 5 Pound puppies to 180 pound Cane corso’s. I noticed that a lot of the volunteers had no idea how to actually care for a dog when I first showed up. There was so much stupid going on and so disorganized. Because I was new we can only walk specific dogs. There are levels 1-4. Level 1 is dogs that don't pull,
Community service is an act of selflessness that grows a caring community. Community only consists on what it’s members are willing to contribute to it. Personally, it is my pristine pride to assist the community in it’s development it into a bountiful place for all.
What does community service means to me? Well, to me community service mean helping your community become a better place. When you do things for your neighborhood, it makes you feel like a better person. There are all sorts of activities you can do in your community. You can work with children at school, work with the elderly, or help people that are less fortunate and make their day very special. Community Service is very important because it gives you a chance to bond with the people in your neighborhood. It will also give you a chance to give back to your community , you’ll learn a lot from your experience, and you’ll make a difference in someone’s life. I recommend a lot of people to go out and make a difference.
Since being involved in a dog rescue organization, I’ve learned a lot about how an animal control shelter works. They are not just people who will take your dog if they get out of the yard. They are animal lovers who try their best to educate the community pet population control and help homeless pets find a new home. I sat down with a friend of mine who I met through the animal rescue group with both volunteer with to find out more about a day in the life of a shelter worker.
In my volunteering time, I desire to make the pets happy by socializing with them. Providing the love and care they need. In addition, I will try to convince and find caring individuals who are willing to take these animals as one of their own. Finding an owner for each of these pets might be out of reach. However, that will not impede me from working hard to liberate these pets into a loving home. Therefore, when volunteering I expect to change these dogs and cats
Many People in our community believe that the police and government should be removing the homeless camp away from us. But I think that they should stay so we can come together as a community and help them out and try and get them back on their own feet. Helping them doesn't mean you have to come out and give them money, money isn't everything. Just having a connection with them would be good even just going out and helping supply groceries would be good if we come together as one community, we could easily just donate twenty to thirty dollars a piece and go shopping for them. Instead of kicking them out and sending them elsewhere, why don't we join a fundraising community by doing that we could do many events just a few a month and we could use that money that was earned to help them out. Think about the little kids that are in that camp with their parents and you just wanna kick and throw them out on the streets you don't care as long as they are away from you and your house you are fine. We don't
I use to volunteer at the Humane Society, but since my schedule got busy I don’t have the time like I use to before to go and help. I loved working with the animals, but it broke my heart to see them in a shelter because, I personally feel that every animal deserves to be in a loving home. It also made me really upset
What does community service mean? Community service, to me, means bettering the community with volunteering at local places, business, or helping the people themselves. Community services is very important due to most of the things in a community such as parks, food banks, etc. being ran/used by the community.
Community service provides opportunities for young people to develop the values, skills and understandings needed to contribute to civic wellbeing. It will enable students to address many general
My project involved helping the children in the park to better their skills in Baseball. Many of the children that went to the park had no basic knowledge of playing baseball, so it was my job to help the professional trainers in teaching them the skills required to play the sport well. The original proposal included that I had to maintain the field in playable conditions, but I went ahead and added dirt as well as passed a rake to remove holes in the infield of the baseball diamond. I also had to help the smaller children in batting practice by simply pitching them ten balls each, but I took it a step further by telling them in which way to position their arms and how to better their hitting techniques.
Volunteer work. Those two words are dreaded by millions of people. Some associate it with unpaid, free labor; after all, it has the word “work” attached to it. Those that do “enjoy” volunteer work tend do see it as it being a resume filler or as compliment to their college application; they do not take too much out of the experience. Through the eyes of Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK), volunteering can be seen as so much more than dreaded labor or a resume buff- it can have an impact on the world. Moreover, volunteer work can be the change that fixes the inequalities in this world. On the surface, volunteering may not seem like it’s going to affect someone, much less change the the world. But even volunteering just an hour can impact the life coarse of someone. Specifically, volunteering at schools helps to solve the injustice in the segregated schooling system. Service learning has taught me that taking action is the only way to make change in order to fight inequalities. The only way we can improve the education system today, is if we take action by volunteering. ((Transition Sentence))
My interest and passion for helping animals has been with me for as long as I can recall. This interest stemmed from my love of our family dog and my parents introducing me to the beauty of the animals in nature. In fact, when I was about 6 years old I innocently and confidently declared to my parents
During my time volunteering, I helped walk the dogs, play with them outside, socialize them, and occasionally clean up their room. One of my favorite socialization activities is called Running Buddies; certain dogs are able to leave the Paws building area with approved volunteers to expand their social experience as well as hopefully meet someone interested in adopting them. Volunteers also have the opportunity to learn how to train the dogs, help with Saturday Adoption events, assist in the administration offices, and many other tasks. All of these tasks help make sure the animals are living comfortably and aide in their adoption. Aside from the animals, the staff benefits from the time volunteers
In the wake of crisis, commentators and news analysts have said that United States citizens make the best out of the worst circumstances. Throughout history Americans have shown that they have evolved into optimistic, vigilant people. Civic virtue is a morality or particular behavior that describes the way that a citizen holds involvement in society to a high standard. Civic virtue doesn’t necessarily have to be shown while in a group. An individual can display civic virtue by volunteering, participating in non profit events, or even voting. Civic virtue helps people understand their importance in their community and gives people a way to use their voice for good. Without the knowledge or understanding of civic virtue, people will start to become selfish. They won’t spend their time participating in non profit events or participating in groups that benefit society.
Community service is not solely based around cleaning up your neighborhood. However, some actions that can be considered as community service are the following: Build a house with Habitat for Humanity, donating your clothes to goodwill, the church or red cross, donating eyeglasses to organizations who are in need of eyeglasses, donating your blood in a blood drive, donating food, volunteering at a soup kitchen, helping out at schools and non-profit organizations, send cards to soldiers over seas, hold a bake sale to raise money for a charity, influencing people to not only register to vote but to also get up and vote, help out in hospitals, tutor children, coach a youth sports team, babysit children, help out in senior citizen nursing homes, foster an animal from a shelter, volunteer at police
I have been volunteering before I was old enough to know I was volunteering. As the youngest of four, I happily came along whenever my parents and siblings volunteered. But, community service is not just something I was taught to do; it is something I love to do. Today, I serve others in ways that are closer to my own heart. Serving people and animals “who don’t have a voice” has been and always will be central to who I am. I spent this summer raising awareness and funds for foster children, and I am excited to use those funds this November to personally decorate and deliver new duffel bags with supplies to foster children in my area. Additionally, I have loved dedicating my time to a local animal rescue where I have participated in animal
