Please describe a meaningful event or experience that made you reflect on your life. Explain how that experience affected who you are or your life’s direction. Please limit to 250 words or 1,650 characters with spaces. This past summer I lived and worked as a model for six weeks in Milan, Italy. I worked hard physically and mentally and I developed incredible life skills. I was living a new city where English is not the primary language and was responsible for finding my way to various jobs and castings. I augmented my perseverance and independence, by eagerly adapting to the public transit system, becoming intimately familiar with the city and picking up a surprising amount of Italian. I also seized the opportunity to absorb as much culture as I could during my stay. For example, the amazing opportunity I had to do a photoshoot in Lago di Garda, to commemorate the 750th anniversary of Dante’s birth inspired me to read his famous Inferno from The Divine Comedy. I expanded was my financial literacy and obtained a better understanding of the economics of a business. I had to keep an eye on my income versus expenses and conduct thorough reviews of my finances, proving extremely useful when I discovered clients’ attempts to short change
The date of the offense was July 19, 2014. It was a night full of mistakes and bad decisions, which I will never make again. The charges that I have been cited with are 1 Class B Misdemeanor (Driving under the Influence), 1 Class B Misdemeanor (Unlawful Consumption), 1 Class B Misdemeanor (Possession of Paraphernalia), 1 Class B Misdemeanor (Possession of Marijuana) and 1 Third Degree Felony (Possession). Since that night I distanced the people who were bringing me down in life and they ended up dropping out of my life as they only wanted to bring me down and I would not allow that any longer. Since the night of the arrest I have not participated in taking any narcotics or any illegal substances since. I have been extremely focused on my work and making
I was born the fourth of December 1991 in Cranbrook British Columbia. I lived there for 18 years. Before joining the military I worked as a fry cook at a Burger King for three years and held part time jobs working for the College of the Rockies summer camp programs during the summer. My parents are currently living together in Cranbrook BC. My father works outside the province testing railway tracks for two months at a time, then returns home for two to three weeks. My mother acts as the main contact point of the family, she works as a financial clerk. I have a 22 year old sister who will be attending university in Calgary this September. I attended Mount Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook and graduated in 2009
My life has prepared me well for a future in helping others. Having overcame multiple instances of emotional abuse as well as social isolation throughout the course of four straight years, I have developed deep compassion and empathy for others. Being faced with multiple different instances of abuse that not many adults have gone through during my childhood has forced me to view the world in a more serious and objective manner. I have spent endless hours reflecting on my past experiences, comparing myself to others, wondering why things have happened the way they did, and how I can make my life better, even with the poor circumstances I had been given. I’ve remained adamant on becoming selfless and learning how to help others. I’ve

Interaction between teachers and students in a classroom supports the development of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and distinctive emotions of children at various age levels. If a teacher initiates positive interaction early, he or she can provide a supportive foundation for the students which develop productive motivations and positive emotions in school and life. This semester my practicum experience has enabled me to clearly identify the positive interactions and make connections with the way my cooperating teacher interacts with middle school students. With my observations, I understand how my cooperating teacher responds to students who lack motivation, how she builds students’ self-efficacies, how she develops growth mindsets in students, and how she identifies personalities in students to help her understand how to motivate her students. Largely, my cooperating teacher utilizes patience, perseverance, and makes
I am excited to experience the graduate level coursework that is more about methods, theories and learning how to apply what we learn in our classroom. Graduate experience to me is digging deeper in to the purpose and getting the needed information to be a successful and purpose driven educator. The graduate learning community is going to provide an abundance of experience from many different backgrounds, levels of education, and opportunity to get ideas from those in our learning community to make us even better educators.
I became interested in cancer research after working in Dr. Barcellos-Hoff lab during college to help pay my bills, helping with husbandry support. This involved palpating the hundreds of tumors. It was fascinating being able to track the growth of a tumor. Seeing the tangible effects of our manipulations,I have developed an appreciation for our research and its medical implications. After college,I came to work at the lab full time,I was excited to learn and better understand the experiments.Quickly I gained the necessary technical skills to work in the lab,and I developed lifelong skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. When a problem arises,I have come to enjoy trying to solve the mystery as to

The existence of various languages around the world only prevail in specific regions, while the dominance of the English language overseas such existence. However, its dominance has not discouraged the practice of other languages such as Spanish. Moreover, in Aria: Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood, Richard Rodriguez, divides language into two ways; the language he speaks in the private sphere “Spanish” and in the public sphere “English”. This division between these two languages enthralled him to assimilate and encouraged him to pay close attention to the sounds produced by the different ways of speech. Since the impact of the different sounds and language spheres increased the distance between his first language.
My vision in how I will take this opportunity and pay it forward to others would be sharing my own experience with others. I would want to allow others to learn and grow from me. I want to be that individual that passes on my knowledge and provide coaching so I can encourage other people to achieve their own goals. I have come across many people who not only have a single parent but financially it is difficult for them since that parent does not really have a high paying job and being a graduate of SCSU I can be a role model for those individuals.
Life is full of exciting experiences for us to enjoy. However, these experiences are meant to teach life lessons that should remain with us. In my 17 years of living, I have had many lessons to be learned from events I have gone through. One of those lessons sticks out above the rest and it has a humorous story to go along with it.
Explain the impact of an event or activity that has created a change in your life or in your way of
When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer, on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview.
My life has been a crazy roller coaster with many events that have affected my life all in different ways. There have been times where my life has been at its highest peak in the world then it falls down, right into a deep valley. From the time my lovable younger sister came into my life to when my grandpa had a near death experience, I have learned many valuable lessons through the rough times as well as the more happy times. When I was a young girl, my mom had always told me the same thing over and over again. I never really thought about how a few words would have a deep effect on me in a short amount of time.
The choices we make early in life have an enormous impact on our future. I have always known that I wanted to directly impact people’s lives. My personal experiences have had a large impact on my motivation to accomplish all my dreams. In the future, I would love to influence another generation of students to soar for their dreams.
