Topic B: Some students have an identity, an interest, or a talent that defines them in essential way. If you are one of these students, then tell us about yourself.
My identity is the nice, shy, and quiet guy who is good at school. If you are having trouble in class, or you didn’t quite understand the homework assignment, I am the guy to ask for help. When I started school, I was usually bullied pretty bad because I got good grades. But I figured out that if I help other people, that instead of bullying me, they will appreciate me. Plus, it’s a good way for a shy guy like me to make friends and meet new people. My best talent is that I usually understand the whole point of our assignments from the start. I can usually visualize what
Personal identity is essential in the human experience. Identity is complex and can be broken down into two main groups: introspective identity, and bodily identity. Introspective identity is based off of the groups, mentalities, or beliefs that you align yourself with, and bodily identity is based off of the physical side of yourself. Whether physical or introspective, your identity impacts every action you take. Whether choices ranging from what colors you prefer to which college you want to attend are primarily based off of your introspective identity, which is a combination of both memory and consciousness, physical identity impacts how others perceive you. Consciousness is mainly the awareness of bodily identity as well as continuous introspective identify, while memory is awareness of introspective identity. These two different facets of identity are imperative in the distinction between bodily identity and introspective identity. In means of personal identity introspective identity (which is evident in memory), is essential, while bodily identity (based partially in consciousness) has less credit.
Currently, I am in the process of not only becoming comfortable in my identity, a black queer woman, but, also attempting to find solace in my identity as well. Something that all women, especially black queer women, should achieve in their lifetime. It is that dream that inspires me to travel to experience other cultures and to unite with women from various cultures across the black diaspora. Throughout many cultures, women’s identities are defined by their male counterparts and the labor they provide to them. Therefore, a major goal of mine is to create a space where women are able to exist outside the scope of their relationships with men and live uninhibitedly to become their best selves. That is why I find it pertinent to travel not only
As of today, the most important aspects of my intersectionalities are my age and race. When I was a child, my mother would often specifically say a Chinese word and show the object itself. The one I can recall most clearly is “Li”, which means pear. Furthermore, she would exhibit various things that are from Chinese culture, such as a Chinese New Year festival and dragon dances on television, the Chinese dragon my brother made in preschool, or Chinese music. Also, I was addicted to fried rice at a young age and I often consumed at Asian restaurants, persuading me to accept my background. As a result, I perceived that my Chinese heritage was an idiosyncratic aspect of myself, making it a foremost aspect of my identity. Furthermore, I was born
The main focus of this paper will be a Profession Identity Statement, where I will state my experiences and areas of interests. The Professional Identity Statement is important for those who are graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree because it allows the student to adequately articulate oneself when discussing future career or graduate school goals. The Statement also allows students to reflect and understand their own goals, so they are able to answer questions about their plans after graduation and have an idea of what one would like to do. It is important to have some sort of understanding of the direction an individual would like to go in after graduation or else it could lead to a delay in possible opportunities. My Professional Identity
Interview Write-up Through the interview that I had with my friend, I had learned a lot about his experience inside and outside of his education. Some of his identity is what I would have expected, being his friend and knowing a vague background. Alex introduced himself by saying, “I am 20 years old. I am a male. I am from Mason, Ohio.”
I was born _name__ on _date__ in _place__. I am a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. I was desperately shy as a small child, but grew out of it. My teen years were happy times sports, friends, summers spent in __place_. It all helped shape me into who I am today. My interests are many. I have always enjoyed reading about history and follow the history channel faithfully. I love music. It's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I find it calming when life gets rocky.
For my identity project, rather than being creative by tying my identity to something symbolic or creating an extended metaphor, I realized the best route for me was to write a paper. This wasn’t because I was too lazy to find some sort of creative outlet, but I thought that the best way for me to evaluate my identity is by telling my coming out story and how it was affected by my identity and eyedentity. I tried to think of some way to make this creative, but I realized that the best way to do this would be by just writing about my experiences, and then talking through it.
Identity is very significant in one’s life. Every person in this life goes through a phase of self-assessment that involves trying to identify the different elements that compose one’s identity and personality, which can be perceived as an ultimate personal quest to answer the question “who am I?” Many cultures have rituals that provide the foundation for self-development of the individual and provide a pathway that guides the individual to the answers he or she is looking for. Since my birth, I belong to certain Community or Social Groups which can influence my identity and personality. The first was my nationality and family. I have been born in India and I belong to Hindu Culture and Religion group. I had been given my name “Harshit” by my aunt which means “One who gives happiness or Joyful or Happy”. I represent my Identity by showing my group which I belong to and how the group affects my personality. When I came to the United States for my further undergraduate studies, I joined classes, sports clubs and university clubs. These activities were part of my college curriculum. Overall, now I belong to multiple Social Groups such as my family, my classes, Hindu culture and religion, universities clubs, community groups and sports club. Within these groups, I have acquired good knowledge and have completely changed my conduct, how to get involved in social life and how to communicate effectively and fluently in English.
Topic B: Most students have an Identity, an interest, or a Talent that defines them in a essential way.
Everybody has an identity, it makes them individual and unique, and it defines who you are as a person. This project about my identity showed me what makes me unique. I would have never known how much my friends mean to me or how my identities connect with each other. I have three identities that make me who I am, cultural, personal, and social. A specific quality that covers my cultural identity is being Czechoslovakian. Both sides of my family have at least a part of Czech in them. My great-grandparents are from Czech Republic and my grandpa was the first generation in America, he was born in Ohio. This is very important because I have always identified as Czech and it is a big part of me, as I am so interested in ancestry. For my personal identity, the biggest part is my personality, being loud and outgoing, has always been important to me. The reason being, it is how people view me. A lot of people know me as the loud person or the person who talks a lot. That is meaningful to me considering I like people to view me in a certain way The last identity, social, is one of the most important to me because it involves my friends, and through this project, I learned how vital they really are to my social identity. I realized that I have a good amount of friends in this project. It is nice to have people as a support system and to relate with. These qualities show that I value being loud and outgoing. It also says that I value my family and they are a big part of life. The last one, social, ties in with the first one because it shows I am outgoing and friendly.
For the Parsons Challenge I took inspiration from my previous piece, "It's What's on the Inside That Counts" to create a new embroidered work titled "I know the Feeling".
Everyone is unique in their own way, no matter how small. Many things show who you are as an individual. These “things” are beliefs, traditions, interests, hobbies, passions, skills, and even family. These contribute to you as a being, if you are one, and who you are. This essay will help you understand who I am.
Who am I? I can think about a million different answers to that question. Everybody has their own story. Who do you see when you look in the mirror. For starters, my full name is Sarah Najah Haddawi. I am Arabic, Muslim, Syrian, those are some of my identifiers. My ethnicity and religion are a big part of who I am and they both play a big part in my life. I make a lot of big decisions based on my culture and its traditions. The reason I am the way I am is all because of my beliefs. My mom chose the name “Sarah” because ever since she was a little girl, she had a doll named Sarah and since then has wanted to name her daughter Sarah. My parents are both from Syria, my mom is actually half Lebanese and half Syrian. I was born in Boston,
A talent/skill i may have obtained over the years was how i am able to look at things through a lot of different people’s perspective. For example back then if someone may have came up to me with a serious situation and the old me would’ve gone and gave the easy way out type of answer, while the new me wouldn’t give an answer until i’ve viewed the situation from multiple standpoints. A way that i’ve honed this skill and been able to be a key factor with it in certain scenarios was once in my freshman year of high school, a friend of mine had gotten jumped by a group of students and he always felt revenge was the way to go but i had talked him out of it and to him to let karma come back around to them and he did, he felt that the karma thing would never work but the next day those same kids had gotten called up and arrested because some who had witnessed it and spoke out. I feel that this had shown growth as a skill of mine as time came along because ever since then i had realized that i could help friends out and avoid them from being taken over by anger and possibly make the avoid them from making a decision they’d regret making.
I grew up thinking it was normal to be in invested everyone's problems. Throughout middle school and highschool, I grew up not knowing what it was like to have a secret. Everything that was mine was hers, and she felt that it was her right to bring it up whenever and wherever she pleased. She was always in my business. I began investing myself into my friends’ problems.
