My road to teaching has not been a direct path. With that being said, my journey has continuously taken me back to teaching. I began a career straight out of high school in the corporate world. I worked my way up to be an Executive Administrative Assistant for a CEO of a large Corporation. After ten years of being out of high school I decided to go to college. I earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Texas Woman's University. At one point during my college enrollment, I took a few classes in the Education Program. I was not 100 percent confident in myself to continue with the plan. I ended up changing my major and received a degree in Business Administration. I was very familiar with many concepts and had learned so much working …show more content…
I started to volunteer at my church in the children’s building working with children for ages 5 to 7 and really enjoy it. I have been a Sunday school teacher for first and second grade for 6 years. As my daughter and family dynamics changed I made the decision to go back in the workforce. I quickly realized I did not want to be in the same kind of work I had previously been in. My true happiness is working with children. Through the years, I have been asked by parents and friends why I am not a teacher. For so many years I didn’t have the answer, but I have continuously been shown the path for me is education, from relationships I have gained with children, to other educators and parents. This past school year I started my journey in Education as an Aid for Special Needs for an Elementary School in Little Elm. I spend most of my days with working with First and Second graders. I have 7 students I work with throughout the day. I have learned so much from working with these students; it will only help me to be a better teacher. To know the 3 main keys to success are very crucial in teaching all grade levels. This particular profession is interchangeable with ideas, implementations, and procedures. It is very important to know the keys and how they

I am an English and Math tutor on Bay Farm Island, where I teach children from the main Island and even Oakland. I found I had a love for teaching when I began helping my siblings with their homework in middle school. It was simple homework back then, so I did not think much of it, but it slowly developed into a passion. I was always good at working with kids, but I just thought that meant I would be a good mom one day! When I started working at my tutoring center, I even told my employer that I wanted to work with the younger kids, simply because it was my comfort zone. She placed me with the older students however, and although I was nervous about it, I ended up loving it! I am an avid believer in the power of education, and I see it everyday when I work with my middle schoolers. One of my students, came in shy and reserved socially. Her grades were below average, but she had determination within her. She came in willing to learn, and after teaching her for just two months, she flourished. She is now a cheerleader at her school, with amazing grades on her tests, and continually gets positive feedback from all her teachers. She is only in the 5th grade, but I know that I have impacted her life for the better. The education we gave her, made her have the confidence to put herself out there and do well in class. It is children like her, that influenced me to

I chose discussion question one to discuss, because I consider this is relevant in current society. What does an administrative assistant looks like? In my opinion, it depends on the type of industry an administrative assistant is in. In my career, a downtown business setting an administrative assistant must dress professionally; wearing suits or appropriate business dresses, no visual tattoos, piercings, hair and make-up must be conservative. In a warehouse or factory setting an administrative assistant may wear jeans and a polo shirt; a new tech company may have a creative and relaxed dress code.

After completing my studies in human resources and gaining more work experience in the music industry, I would like to become a human resources assistant for a record company. As a human resources assistant, I believe I could continue to learn more about the different specialities that exist within human resources. By working with and learning from other HR professionals, I hope to develop a more accurate idea of a particular HR speciality that I would like to eventually pursue. Furthermore, as a human resources assistant, I would like to expand my knowledge of entrepreneurial human resources, which I feel I can accomplish by observing how a record company aligns its human resources and business strategies together. By assisting more experienced
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that in my future I wanted to become a teacher. I always looked up to my teachers, especially the ones I had in elementary school. I even played 'school' with my friends and pretended I had my own classroom. I loved being in charge. During a summer, I was given the opportunity to work as an Energy Express mentor and work with a group of eight children. This was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever been through. I was a mentor to help guide the children, and by the end of the summer I felt as if I had really accomplished something. I am planning to pursue a career in elementary education. I love children, and just knowing that as a
